I'd strongly advise against this. The letter was sent by Walmart's legal representatives. Walmart is their client and they just do what they are told to do. They didn't make this decision, Walmart did, so please do not hassle them as nothing good can come from that.

Tablet PCs are still very good for some applications (health care, education, construction), but not for 99% of the general public. As for the netbooks, they really are underpowered for the most part, and their small size (and small keyboards) make them really hard to use for more than a few minutes at a time. I'd suggest taking the $ that you would have spent on a netbook and put it towards a real laptop. Price isn't everything. But yeah, the BF ads will have a lot of these $199 and $299 "laptops" but there will be a lot of disappointed buyers when they get them home and find out they can't do a lot of what they want them to be able to do. And the ones that have bigger 9-10" screens and any version of Windows cost just as much if not more than a much more powerful 14-15" regular laptop that are always cheap on BF.

if you remember last year, there may or may not have been a "preview" for certain forum members... my memory is a little hazy though

something like that would also be deleted. it's hard to feign ignorance eith something like that. they give us a little bit of leeway in that they won't take action right away if someone posts something as long as we delete it right away, so we're not going to take chances.

lol. i have a scanner but i use it so rarely that it's packed away in a closet, while the digicam is right here in front of me.

obviously we cannot stop people from posting things, but we have to remove anything (actual info, links to where to find it, etc...) as soon as we see it. besides the legal issues, we also have affiliate agreements with many of the major retailers that we have for the main GD site that is open year round. in many cases the retailers threaten to terminate the affiliate agreement as well if we post the ads, so that's more of a concern than the legal threats, as without these affiliate agreements, GD (and the BF site) would not exist.

instead of contacting walmart like we did last year (which got out of hand when a couple people crossed the line), if anyone is upset about this, consider reporting this news to your local newspaper or tv station, national news organizations, major blogs, digg the story on the home page, etc... just point them to the black friday site home page: http://blackfriday.gottadeal.com that serves to both get walmart some bad publicity as well as get our site some good publicity :)
