It is my understanding that the $5 GC is not an advertised bargain, it is just a sticker on the DVD's.....I hope that someone who has seen the DVD can advise us on this.

Yup they have all those DVD's I listed with GC's that you have the cashier peel off and activated at the registers. Most cashiers know about the deal.

So, did you use the gift cards in the same transaction? Thanks.

I didn't. I actually got 5 of the Tinkerbell DVD's. Two seperate transactions. First 2 and then 3. I used the 2 $5 gift cards from my first transaction on my second and then got 3 more the second time I checked out. GREAT DEAL!!!

I got one. DD (5) was with me, so she saw the movie, or I would have used it for christmas :( Anyway, I think they would have let me use the gift card on the transaction if I wanted too. I didn't use the coupon $3 off, but I am going to do the MM rebate :)

Thanks! I got mine. Lucky too. Went to electronics didn't see any movies with a $5 GC and didn't see ANY Tinkerbells. Asked and the associate went right over and picked up one from a stack of various DVD's on the counter. It was the last one!

THEN I went to check out. I told the cashier that I wanted to price match the Toys R Us ad and showed her the price. She tells me "We can't do percents off"! If you look at the ad in addition to the 9.95 price it says "50 percent off". I tried to tell her that this did not make any sense since ANY sale is a percent off. TRU just decided to make a point of how much you were getting off. In other words if it had just said 9.95 she wouldn't have had a problem giving it to me, but because it said 50 percent off above that it was a problem. Anyway she called the CSM over and the CSM AGREED with her. Again I pointed out that ALL sales were by their nature a percent off SOMETHING. The cashier then says "well I guess we can call toys r us and see what their regular price is"! What?! What does that have to do with anything? And if 9.95 is 50% off doesn't it stand to reason that the regular price was ummm... I don't know.... DOUBLE that? So I asked to speak to a manager. The manager was very nice and actually intelligent. She explained to the cashier and CSM that it was okay, they couldn't give 50% off only if there was no price listed in the ad. So she price matched the 9.95, gave me the GC, when I handed her the coupon she looked agitated (what are they working on commission now?) but gave it to me anyway. I don't understand what the deal with not wanting to give coupons is anyway. Coupons are reimbursed by the manufacturer so they don't cost the store money. Oh well, got a deal in the end.

Later, I did notice on mine that the actual gift card is inside the shrink wrap. Not sure how the cashier was supposed to activate that. She just gave me one she had by the register.

I got one, but they gave me a hard time too. The cashier didn't know how to do a price match, so she asked the cashier beside her. She said that she didn't think that they would do a pm because of the $5 gift card. I told her that I didn't think that it should matter, so she went and got a CSR. The CSR looked at it and said, "no, there is a $5 complimentary gift card." I told her that complimentary meant that the card was free and had nothing to do with the price. She rudely said, "I am going to do it! I was trying to explain to her (the cashier)." I told her that was fine, but she didn't have to be rude about it. She said that she was not trying to be rude, but she had a tone when she said that. I guess I should have waited and let her finish what she was telling the cashier before I said anything, but it sounded like she was telling me no. Anyway, I'm debating calling and complaining about her rudeness, but I don't know that it would do any good.

Wal-Mart makes me mad with the price match thing. They always act like I'm trying to rip them off. Hey it's their policy so they should honor it. Besides the cashier dosen't own the place so why does she care? Not that they should let everything by. I once had a cashier tell me the price at the other store had to be the same exact price at Wal-Mart before the sale price. I told her no... if that were the case no one could price match because Wal-Mart is always a couple of cents cheaper. It's extra work for them so it's easier to just say no because of this or that.

My Walmart gave me the same song and dance when I tried to pricematch too. So I just went to Toys R Us and was luckily able to get them both there. They still had a whole bin full of them in the video game department.

I don't necessarily blame Walmart but rather the general stupidity of the masses. This could just have easily (and has!) happened at any other number of establishments. Just think of the number of times this has happened: your order rings up to $20.15 you hand the cashier $25 and then after she punched it into the register you hand her another 15 cents you just found in your pocket. THEN you get nothing but a blank stare because the register has already told her what the change should be and YOU just screwed it up!
