wx4svr
Ok... I don't think anyone has brought this one up yet. I searched. Now, we are all having economic hard times, I know that, and you know that. Are you expecting to spend less this year? Are you not going to those stores that are a little further out of the way? How are these economic times affecting your plans for shopping this year?
julz0420
So far everything seems to be set in place for me to do exactly as I did last year. (same stores, about the same amt of money, etc) Now if Walgreens opens in my town before then (its supposed to but it looks like they still have a lot of work to do) and Target moves to my town before then (thats never gonna happen but a girl can dream) I'd stay here instead of driving to another town(s). wx4svr
I can't believe I forgot to tell you what I am going to do... the only change I have made, I'm not going to be taking a generator this year. I will likely spend around the same, but gas is tooooooo high to run a generator. I have calculated the cost of my generator on BF last year, and it ended up costing me $38. oO I know that doesn't sound like a lot, but that could be a LOT of DVD's at certain stores. =)
abentley
Most of my purchases on BF are extras for my family, so it always depends on what is on sale for me. This year most of our gifts are purchased, and we are going to Disnleyland for the week before the big day...once again for me it depends on what is on sale!! If they have a lot of dvd's for my kids to watch while traveling I will be very happy!! I will spend according to the quality of the ads!! If they are awesome, I will buy a lot! If they sucks agian, it will minimal!
cherry33778
Well money is definitely tight this year since I haven't worked since the beginning of May due to my illness. It's so tight I think I might have to skip Christmas this year if I don't get cash pretty soon.
conj
I'm spending less this year in general... as much because other people's money is tight and I don't want it to be awkward. I am hopping to focus on the kids this year... we've gotten out of control in the past, buying for everyone... I don't regret it... but they don't appreciate it, either... mgmckny
We will be spending less this year. Both DH and I have had health issues and even with insurance the extra on medications, gas prices and food prices for 2 hungry teens is taking a toll! WhiteOwl
I live across the street from a toys r us, staples, and a mall with two Game Stops :-D a five minute walk from the mall is Wal Mart, so the money I save on gas, will be going towards other things, I guess since this will be my first friday, I'll say that I'm able to save money compared to how I usually shop, though. :)
bugsette
will be spending less.... just makes me nervous the way things are going
shopping mom
I will be spending less, but my kids don't believe me. I am sticking to the budget though and if I find deals on things I know they like great. They are older now and I would rather get them a few things that they would really like and use. Now the budget is harder when it comes tomy 5 year old. I know I want to get the dollouse, but there are so many other cute toys out there that she would love. leefamily23
I'm still going to go shopping on BF. I will be picking up some extra hours throughout Oct-Dec to try to pay for Christmas. The difference is I won't pick up anything "extra" on BF. I usually buy things for the household because they are a good deal. I won't be doing that this year. It will be strictly gifts. My company is doing really badly too- so that is scary. The joke is that we're going to show up one day and there will be locked chains on the doors. It's really not funny, but it's kind of stressful. I know we're trying to merge w/ another clinic and being management- either me or the other person at the other clinic who does the same thing I do will be let go. Doesn't help either........ Anyhow, yes I'm going to shop. I'm going to stick to the same holiday budget I had last year- which was greatly cut back.
babygirl913
I will be spending less as well. Seems like a lot of people will be doing this.
JohnnyLaRue
Probably spending more. Not affected by the poor US economy and I figure the deals will reflect the consumer crunch.
kboyts
Well less then I used to but more then last year. Last year I was unemployed at the time, and this year I at least have a job. As well as a new son added to the shopping list
smfritz03
Spending just a little more on the kids since they are older. I've gotten alot of my shopping already done so BF will be girl time and picking up things as I see them! I've saved all year for BF this year! angelbabymommy
I will be spending the same, if not more. I save throughtout the year, so Im not really affected by the economy.
zim05
Well my family is already doing some big ticket shopping (we just got a wii and two wii fits), so it will be easier on the pocketbook starting now than in November. Every year my family says it will not be as much as the last but all in all we probably spend the same.
sdigman6
I think it helps me out that my kids have less on there list then ever before...well the older ones do! the 2 younger ones have yet to actually do a list. my 1 dd who is turing 6 her birthday shopping is done. My other dd who turns 3 in Dec. her shopping for that is done too. That leaves just Xmas unlike other years seems I get hammered with all of it and end up broke! I think when we buy for the god parents we may do a family gift they can all use or do together. we will see!
arci122
Or E, I am going to get all done by BF, to save on gas!!!
KrisinTn
I'm thinking that it will be less this year... but you never know. Either way I've saved for it all year long- but the economy scares me. Hopefully the sales will be better this year.. I was disappointed last year. pampam
Early last Black Friday morning I was sitting across from the mall watching the parking lot as it filled. However, instead of shopping I was at the emergency vet clinic where my entire Christmas budget went towards trying to save my precious 20-year-old kitty. It's now a terrible, sad memory... my sweet old girl didn't make it and I was broke. So, yeah, I'll be spending more shopping this year than last. kellygirl911
I will be spending less than last year only because my DS has his college tuition due again in Jan.
Tara3117
I think I'll be spending just as much as last year. I have a Christmas Club, so I save a specific amount from every paycheck and that's my Christmas shopping money. Last year, my list doubled when I started dating my boyfriend, but I think I did okay building that into the budget this year.
MeliesMom
I will be spending the same, if not more. I save throughtout the year, so Im not really affected by the economy.Same here. We will probably be spending more than last year. Well, I know we will due to the fact we had a baby in April. But we too, save throughout the year. PikkasMom
I save up for BF, so not too bad for me, but unless there is something that I just cannot pass up, meaning that I've been drooling after all year... HDTV comes to mind:D, then I will let it stay on the shelf. Like leefamily 23, it's usually for the 'extras' that are on sale anyway...plus the girlie girl time ~ lubs mah friendgurls!! PeachieKeen
I have my BF/Christmas savings, however, the economy is very bad off and that does frighten me. So, I will definitely be spending less....the $ will come in more handy should I need it for things like bills, etc. a little on down the road. MathGirl
I have picked up a few items already, mostly small pieces and stocking stuffers. I haven't really figured out a budget yet. I have 4 new people to purchase for this year. My new SIL, her DD(8) and DD(21) and my new nephew(5mos) I think my budget will be pretty much the same or slightly higher. I always find good deals when I shop and no one has anything expensive on their lists.
ushneb
I think I'm going to be spending alot more this year than the 2 previous BF's. It's time to get a new TV so that's itself is going to make my bill exponentially bigger. I'm finally getting tired of my 16 year old 27" CRT.
