Tessangel Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 I thought it would be great to hear about past awesome BF deals!!! I love an awesome deal, they taste like chocolate!
Tessangel Posted August 6, 2008 Author Posted August 6, 2008 (edited) So I guess I will be the first one..... About I think 3(possibly 4) years ago Target had a misprint in their sale ad. It didn't really define which video games were on sale. Well I ended up getting the new Star Wars Battlefront II for 12bucks!!!! I was so excited I couldn't contain myself. If was the one thing that my oldest wanted for Christmas that year. It had just come out 2 weeks before this sale for $50!! Edited August 6, 2008 by Tessangel looked up the aid! :)
bigjimslade Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 The best BF deal I got money can't buy. It is the friends I have made while camping out in line.
4gr8girls Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 I think I have gotten better deals throughout the year then on Black Friday but like OP said it's the things that money can't buy. It is a tradition I do with my family. We have such a great time together and we talk about it until the next year. You can't buy memories like that!

A few years ago my friend and I started going together and it has been a tradition ever since. We hit a million stores, have lunch and drinks :) then hit some more stores and collapse! I love that time I get to spend with her and we have a blast!
DramaQueenLucy Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 I have gotten tons of time with my family that would have been wasted sleeping...lol BF is a tradition in my family we camp out make friends...just have fun. One of my best friends I meet in line at BB on BF.
jarerice Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 I think every BF has been great!!!! I love it all. I liked the Walmart Secert Sale with the Basketball thing. We got there like a 1am, already knew what we wanted and had the store pretty much to ourselves for a while. It was regular 250.00 and we got it for 99.00!

My dad was with me, and he kept saying there was no way they would give it to me that cheap, but they did. That was one of the better deals I was really excited about.
cassgurlie04 Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 hmmm i dunno, let me think about this and ill edit my post
Scanner420 Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 The best BF deal I got money can't buy. It is the friends I have made while camping out in line. That was right before the doors opened and you screamed "EVERY MAN FOR THEMSELVES!!" While you trampled the people in front of you into the ground. Oh wait... That was me last year! :)
Marcster Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Last year I got a 2GB Kingston flash drive at Inkstop for $9.99. Not a good deal anymore, but it was then. The kicker was that we didn't go out till after 9:30 am and they still had plenty.
jerseygirl Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 My 1st BF deal that hooked me on the whole BF shopping experience was an Intellitable fr:Kohls about 6/7 years ago http://www.fisher-price.com/US/products/demo/intellitable.asp I picked up an air hockey table fr:Target on BF a few years back - was only about $39 so I didn't expect much. My kids *still* use it & still love it!!! (DD now 8 & DS now 6) the Kitchen Aide mixer deal @ Kohl's about 3 years back was good for me & the Sears Nikon camera deal for DH this past Christmas. oh........ allllllll of amazon's deals last Christmas!!! cha-ching!!
lightguy Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Last year I got a 37" Olivia Flatscreen TV at Target for about $550 including tax. Doorbuster price plus 10% off for opening a target card earlier in the week. Still haven't seen anything that cheep.
Donnask8pro Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Last year we bought 8, 46in sharp aquos at Sears. Everyone I know now has one.. LOL
tokanm Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 I was with a friend and we were at this now closed store called Ann and Hope. It was a huge 3 story mill store that sold everything. She had in her carriage a Super NES about 5 games, extra controllers plus a ton of toys and other fairly expensive items. We went to the checkout and she paid by check it was $500. + (which was huge 15 years ago) we get out to the car and she looks at her receipt only to find she was given her check back. We go back to the store to get in line and explain to the security guard what happened. He shrugged and said "forget it...Merry Christmas, this place can afford it" We were shocked and so she never felt quite right about it but off we went. However being the good person she is, she went and sponsored a needy family and provided them with a wonderful Christmas
siczlo Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 2 years ago, Wal Mart had a 50 inch projection screen for $500. I was 4th in line. There were only 4. When the doors opened this BIG dude jumped the line from behind me and power drived me into the glass doorway between the two opening doors. Just about knocked me out! I had a head injury and floor burns on my knees and elbows! The store manager felt sorry for me and sold me a Philps 50 inch High Def that was on sale for $1200, for the $500 bucks! I also bought the computer tower for $198 and he threw in a flat screen monitor for free! As we were leaving, the guy who pumbled me, couldn't fit the HUGE projection screen box in his SUV. Ahe....my Tv was light as a feather and flat. No problem fitting it in my van!
Tigger97498 Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 That has to be my best deal too. I was in line at Target at 5 and a security guard told us that those tv's were in Jewelry and NOT electronics so we really were lucky because a lot of people lined up at the electronics door for it. As soon as the doors opened I ran for that tv and held onto it for dear life until mom caught up a few mintues late with the cart (I left her and the cart back at the door when it opened LOL). That was my one thing I wanted more than anything on Black Friday and I love that tv. I use it all the time infact its the one that my Wii is hooked up to. I really didnt think I would get it though before I tried starting at 4 am or 5 (I forget which) thanksgiving day to get the 32" at Kmart.com and they sold out in 5 minutes so I didnt have high hopes for getting in the Target doors fast enough. The guy who was in front of me in line and was also looking for the Olevia just started cracking up laughing when I grabbed onto that thing and saw that I had left mom way back at the door lol. Last year I got a 37" Olivia Flatscreen TV at Target for about $550 including tax. Doorbuster price plus 10% off for opening a target card earlier in the week. Still haven't seen anything that cheep.

luckynutmeg Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 My boyfriend got me the KitchenAid mixer that's usually $350 for only $120 because of a misprint in an ad. Would've only been $90 as he also had a $30 rebate, but his dad cashed the check and kept the money for himself.

Ahe....my Tv was light as a feather and flat. No problem fitting it in my van!I too went for this deal. Not really a super deal here but a funny story. I am a "big dude" like the one you described. My sister and I waited since 10 oclock the night before and was told that they only had 2 tvs. We both wanted one but we were first in line so I wasn't all that worried. My sister had a baby the month before so I was looking for her as well. We were informed that the tv's were located in the opposite corner of the store. Well... 5 or 6 am came and it was time to open up the doors. Here I am a 6'2 270 lbs man wearing 15 lbs worth of padding to stay warm getting ready to go. Right behind us these 2 thin and athletic, I'd say 18 year old kids show up. I didn't see them all night but I was in the zone. The doors open and I sprint in my big winter boots throughout the store with my sister right behind. To me everything was silent as I could feel these kids right on my heels until I heard my sister fall and yell "I'M OK...JUST KEEP GOING! GET ME A TV". So... I keep going. I ran right up to customer service just inching out these two kids. There was a one per customer limit but I explained to the cashier and grabbed my sister through the crowd at the register. We got our tvs. I to this day have no idea how I beat those kids in a 100 yard dash. I was moving faster than I ever have moved before and will probably ever move again. Everytime I turn on the tv I remember that morning. However, after that experience I took last year off. I might come out of retirement this year though.

rwking75 Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 2 years ago...Sears had Sony rear projections dirt cheap...$1200 on 50" 1080P...plus 24 months no interest! It's been paid off for awhile. Walmart had a Sony home theater unit for $250, HDMI pass thru, 5.1, 1000w. Last year...BB had 22" widescreen LCD monitors for desktops for $150.
ilgetumipretty Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 (edited) Probably 3/4 years ago Walmart had a laptop for $388. So, my FIL (who was on oxygen) and I trek to Wally world about 3 or 4 in the morning and get in line. We were probably 30th or 40th back. I knew the only way I had a remote chance of getting one was to make a run for it. When the doors opened I made a dash for it, with FIL in hot pursuit. Well, as much as somebody with an oxygen tank - who gets winded in about 5 minutes - can be in hot pursuit! When I make it back to the electronics there is already a big crowd around the checkout (they were keeping the laptops behind the register), with 1 girl at the register who CLEARLY had never worked BF before. The poor girl just stood there with this "deer in the headlights" look on her face as people with wads of money or credit cards in their hands were screaming at her. "I have money! I was here first! I want a laptop!!!!" Just then another male clerk comes over to this checkout and says "hey I need another laptop for someone over here" as he is pointing to the other register in electronics. I thought to myself, hey, its worth a shot... So as soon as that he handed the laptop to the third clerk I tugged his sleeve and said "Hey can I get a couple laptops and pay up front?". He just reached over and grabbed two and handed them to me!!! OMG, you shoulda heard the people yellin at him and me, as we made our way out of there. One lady was yelling at me "you didn't wait outside as long as I did!" (which for the record I did too! I remembered seeing her in line outside about 10 people behind me). I just smiled at her and said "hey, I can't help it if I'm assertive!!" Edited August 15, 2008 by ilgetumipretty grammar

lyn_k Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 I'm not one to stand in line for a toy but I was tired of the toy clutter in my home so last year I decided that the kids would get a Wii and some games for it. I figured I wouldn't find them laying around on the floor a week after Christmas. I had no idea it was going to be so hard to find one in stock! I snagged one at Game Stop BF and entered a drawing while I was there. I won a $100 gift card to our mall and used it to buy some controllers. Two birds, one stone- great deal!
lovens12 Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 The best BF deal I ever found happened 2 years ago. I was in Walmart and overheard someone asking the manager if they would price match a laptop another store advertised. He said yes. I also got the laptop Toshiba 60GB which I am using now, for $199 now that was a deal.
suunflowrr Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 Last year, after hitting Walmart first thing, I hit Burlington Coat Factory for a Kitchenaid set of pots and pans that were on sale for $99. Well, I got there and found that there was only one set left and it was in my desired color of red but it was marked as 39.99. They gave it to me at that price!!! I was walking on sunshine after that. Black Friday is probably my favorite day of the year. Something amazing always happens!
wx4svr Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 I have a good one... I went to Wal-Mart around 9:00 AM on BF, after all the good deals were "really" gone. I needed to pick up a gag gift for my friend. He HATES the show House. So, what else would I get him?! The ENTIRE series on DVD. Now, generally, these series DVD box sets run anywhere from $100 - $120 depending on how many seasons you get in a set or how many disks are in a series. I go into Wal-Mart, and into the craziness, expecting to find a box set for around $60 or $70. (Side Note: I knew when he opened the set, he wouldn't like them, so I was banking on him giving them back to me. I love the show!) I walk to Electronics, which looked like a bomb had gone off, and I find the series on DVD rack. I look... $.99 WHA!?! 99 Cents!?! I ask the lady if they were priced wrong. She immediately called the manager who came RUNNING. He said that they were suppose to be $99. Seems like someone marked them wrong. As per Wal-Mart policy... if it is marked wrong, they give it to ya for the marked price. WOOOOT! GOOD for me.. BAD for them! I was SOOOOOO Happy! The manager quickly put a new price on the DVD's and stood there to see if I was going to tell anyone about the AMAZING deal I got. I loved it! It was the best deal EVER! lol. (For the record, I now have a box set of House setting on my DVD shelf. lol)
Strawberrie6801 Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 This happened to be last year. My brother and I decided to get my mom a digital photo frame and Target had them on sale for $49 I believe. I specifically told my brother make sure you go straight to electronics and get one! I was headed to get the rocker/radio chair thing for my brother without him knowing. As I was walking back in the store from hiding the gift I asked my brother, "you got the digital frame right"? He said no! OMG!!!! I was mad a heck. We ended up at the mall and they were handing out goody bags at customer service with different coupons to stores they had and an occasional prize was in random bags. I was sitting in a chair in one of the stores resting when I opened an envelope in my goody bag. I had to read the flyer 3x! I had one a $500 shopping spree with Master Card!!!! I was excited to be able to give my kid a better Christmas than what I had money for. Oh and I went back to Target Saturday morning; I was first in line thank god and got the only 1 digital photo frame that was on the shelf. Glad I was first because a lady who was head set on the same thing was right behind me!
