landdaisy Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 I know they've been running a deal on no interest for 3 years for TV's but, I need a laptop. So, here's the question, do they ever run no interest for 3 years on computers? I was going to go buy one but if they do run that kind of a deal then I can wait. Has anyone seen this before?
scrabbler Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 Not on computers typically. The latest time I think was 6 mos. A year or so ago, it was 18 mos or 2 yrs. We asked that question around Christmas time and although they didn't give us an answer, the next flyer had laptops/desktops for 6 mos financing.
rlp2451 Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 Dell has a no interest til 2009 on certain models: http://www.dell.com/content/products/features.aspx/dpa_bundled_offers?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&~ck=mn
Marcster Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 I think 24 months on computers over $1,000 is the most BB ever offers.
landdaisy Posted January 23, 2008 Author Posted January 23, 2008 Thanks guys! I'll check out dell for sure. I keep building computers there and then canceling, I just need to pull the trigger but I hate paying for these stupid things... =)
rachealb Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 When we were at BB this last weekend, we asked the salesgirl if they would match Circuit City's 3 years no interest deal on TVs and she said they dont really match that the same as prices, but that if you get a manager and have another place that will do your credit terms they will usually work something out to keep your business there
littlesdcen Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 I bought a laptop $600 last year and they had 12 months no intrest. Keep checking the add.
landdaisy Posted January 23, 2008 Author Posted January 23, 2008 12 months no interest would work too. It doesn't have to be BB, that's just where I found the one I wanted but I'm sure I could find it somewhere else. I just would like the no-interest thing for as long as humanly possible! =)
Marcster Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 Newegg occasionally offers 12-months-same-as-cash through Bill Me Later (currently, the deal is only for 3 months) Here are a few places that are offering 6-months-same-as-cash through Bill Me Later:http://shopping.billmelater.com/offers/6months.html Fujitsu makes nice laptops, best known for the 14.1" size and SMALLER. CyberPower offers plenty of "cutting edge" laptops. JR Music & Computer World and PC Universe have laptops... I bought my HP laptop directly from HP.com with 6-months-same-as-cash. I've been sending them payments anyway, I owe them $160.00 before March. They still have this offer going too.

Deviant5ouL Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 landdaisy- You can buy both a laptop AND a tv on the same receipt and you will get everything under the 3-years no-interest promotion. Don't open the tv and just return it a day or two later. :) For the sake of disclosure, I gotta say that i DO have a best buy credit card and it is what I use for those kinds of purchases.... although I am not sure whether it is necessary to use one for this kind of deal. I also would like to point out that in order to qualify for the promotion, the tv needs to cost at least a $1000. Keep this in mind to make sure you have enough credit line. Instead of a tv, I would also suggest asking whether they have a qualified projector. As long as the projector cost at least $1000, it should qualify for the promo as well. A projector box is significantly easier to carry out of the store than a tv box. In this way, you get 3 years no interest on your shiny new laptop... and all you have to do is carry out and then return a measly tv/projector. :) As an aside, I'd like to point out that BBuy will have this promtion every year in the 3 weekends prior to the Super Bowl. Last year, they also did this kind of promotion in the 2 weeks surrounding Memorial Day.... although this was the first one i've seen them do around this time so i'm not sure if it's an every year thing. -Dev.

Are you serious?? First, will they really refund a $1000 item?? So basically I'm buying like $1800 worth of stuff but returning $1000 of it and still getting the 3 years no interest?? WOW. That is a good deal. Are you sure this works, that's quite a gamble!
reereejones Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Landdaisy Right after Christmas they had 18 months no interest with a $499.99 purchase you just have to watch the ads. Also, I believe Deviant5ouL is correct. Good Luck:cheesy:
Deviant5ouL Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 Are you serious?? First, will they really refund a $1000 item?? So basically I'm buying like $1800 worth of stuff but returning $1000 of it and still getting the 3 years no interest?? WOW. That is a good deal. Are you sure this works, that's quite a gamble! It definitely works. I'm sure you've read about how Best Buy is one of those evil corporations and to a certain degree, I will have to agree. However, their 3-years-no-interest promotions are without a doubt one of the best in the brick-&-mortar industry. Since 2004, I've practically worked around these promotions and timed my purchases accordingly. In fact, if you look at my Best Buy credit card bill, all you'll see are Black Friday purchases OR 3-years-no-interest purchases. So yes, to answer your question, they will refund a $1000 item. One thing to make sure of is that you return the item for a refund within the alotted time. I usually do so within a week of my original purchase so there's usually no problem with that. Secondly, I make sure that there is no possible question that the item I will be returning was ever opened. I pretty much sit it in one corner of our house untouched until I bring it back to the store for the return. Thirdly, make sure to hang on tightly to your receipt. All returns require it for the most part. Fourth, when they ask you why you are returning the item, just say (lie) that you opted to purchase a similar item (from them also) and you're just returning this one so as not to have two. Fifth, make sure you check your credit card statement in a couple of business days to certify that the refund made it back into your account. And there you have it. If i remember anything else that's important, I'll add to this later. But as long as you follow Best Buy's own return policy, I don't see why anyone can't work the system. Been doing it for a few years now and it has worked like a charm. Not to say that I don't have the money to pay for my purchases already. Some people on here will say that it's better to have the cash on hand when you're making your purchase. Saves you from the REALLY HIGH interest (as high as 27%) that Best Buy will charge you if you miss the final day of your promotion. But in reality, i DO have the cash in hand already. I just put it in a high-yeild savings account till my promotion is over and pay it in full then. Until then though, my money is making me more money! But I digress. I just really wanted to say that it DOES work. In fact, you'll see me this Saturday at Best Buy doing this exact same thing!! .
Deviant5ouL Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 Btw... I suggested the projector in my first post because 1) it should qualify for the 3-year-no-interest promotion as long as the projector cost $1000 and above (you can ask the Best Buy employee first whether the projector you have will qualify) and 2) it's easier to lug out of the store and then lugging it back in for the return. The easy-transport of the projector will minimize any kind of damage to the box and will make it easier for a no-questions-asked return. Definitely easier than taking out and then bringing out the box of a 47-inch tv. .
landdaisy Posted February 1, 2008 Author Posted February 1, 2008 Well, that just seems great to me. I think I finally convinced my husband to give it a try so we may head over there tomorrow. We may have to do the projector thing since the temptation of not returning the TV may be too great! =) I'll let you know how it works. The whole thing does make me nervous though, I hope I'm not trying to rip them off here. But, I figure if they allow it then it must be ok. Surely I'd have it paid off before the 3 year period is up but at least I know I have 3 years! Thank you so much for your help!!
davidcmal Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 Just make sure to pay it off before the 3 years is up. Best Buys financing is great, but they do have the exclusion that if the balance is not payed off in the 3 years any interest that would have occured will occur. Sometimes that can end up being hundreds of dollars. ~David Well, that just seems great to me. I think I finally convinced my husband to give it a try so we may head over there tomorrow. landdaisy Posted February 2, 2008 Author Posted February 2, 2008 I would surely have the thing paid for in 3 years! I'm kinda nervous about doing this deal only b/c of having to return such a high priced item but I think we'll try it out today! Thanks for all the great input!
miatapaul Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 Yea if you don't have it paid off in 3 years, you will be buying a new one before this one is paid for! Though that is the American way! This should work as long as you get the projector returned. Though I have to say projectors are way cool! I love mine. Big screen where ever I go! put a sheet outside on the side of the house for a back yard drive in! They should not give you a hard time as long as you do not open it.
