heatherkw Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 Hey guys Amazon still has the deal on the FLY pen just wondering if anybody has this and if you think it would be to juvenile for my 12 y.o DD. I think she would find it useful. She struggles in quite a few school subjects esp. Math and English. What do you guys think? Heather
houseof5 Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 I have a 12 yr old daughter and she uses hers not alot but she uses it. She did ask for the fly journal this year so that's positive.
logannamath Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 Well my 9 yr old DS asked for it for christmas last year. He has hardly used it and many program boxes are unopened. I wish I didnt get it. I think its a great thing...but only if they will use it.
kstategrad Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 I just bought it with the great amazon deal. My son is 9 and really wants it. I hope that he will use it, because even though it's a great deal, it's worth nothing if they don't use it!
shanni Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 What is a FLY pen?http://www.amazon.com/LeapFrog-Interactive-Pentop-Computer-Bundle/dp/B0009NDRJE/sr=8-1/qid=1165406853/ref=pd_bbs_1/104-4033601-0243114?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games
meyou Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 My daughter has been wanting this and shes 13, I was wondering if she would even uses it. She has Algebra 2 now, and I havent seen anything higher than Algebra 1 .
houseof5 Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 i believe they even have stuff for ACT/SAT's
rimshot Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 I ordered one for my twelve year old daughter. She's been asking for this since it came out and I said we'd see when they went on sale. Just took 2 years or more for me to finally see a sale lol I hope there is some cool software that comes with it until we can find some after holidays sales for more
heatherkw Posted December 6, 2006 Author Posted December 6, 2006 Ok I did it, such a good deal and even if she out grows it she has a younger brother and a BUNCH of younger cousins! Thanks for all the input!
elena_398 Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 My son is 12 and they have a lot of nice stuff for that age range. Algebra and Spanish. Actually about 5 of the games and/or extra software says for ages up to 14. So no, not juvenile. Besides that, once he feels hes done with it, my daughter can have it so it works out.
sinvids Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 I'm wondering though, can they cheat with this thing? On exams and such? It looks like just a pen...
Gator Pam Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 I'm wondering though, can they cheat with this thing? On exams and such? It looks like just a pen...My sister's sending one to Beorn, so I need to read up on them. I don't think they can cheat with it for two reasons: 1) I'm pretty sure it only works with a special type of paper. I may be wrong though. 2) Aren't the answers given verbally through a small speaker? Unless the proctor was hard of hearing, I am sure anyone trying to cheat with the FLY pen would be instantly caught.
nat1jen Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 I didn't realize how expensive these Fly Pens really are! Are they really worth it? Does Amazon still have the best deal? I have a DD that needs help with math.
