  1. My secret recipe is buy a butterball, slap it in the oven, 3 hours later I take it out and serve. Kinda sad but i don't trust myself to even add herbs to it!
  2. This year I bought my dh a gas pressure washer. Ours isn't working very well and he loves cleaning the car. I was also thinking of getting him and gym membership for the both of us, but I'm not sure we'll use it. I guess it's just as bad watching the kids open gifts on Christmas day and playing with them, then never to by touched again and thrown out in April:) I also got him a ski pass for the whole family for a day. The tickets are $70.00 each so he better enjoy it! One year I got him a new set of keys. He lost his keys and kept on using mine. So I went on Ebay and found him all the keys (these door unlock keys are expensive!). Even got him the same keychain he had before. He thought that was one of the most thoughtful gifts he's ever got.
  3. My Christmas list keeps growing when I read forums like this! So many good ideas I haven't even thought of! Here's my list: Dh Gas pressure washer (ours crapped out, this time I think he needs a decent one) He's also getting a family pass to go skiing with the family(he keeps talking about it!) and a night at a hotel (I work for the Fairmont chain so I'm lucky to get hotels for 90% off!) DD14- DSI, ds game, ipod touch, pj's, and highlights for her hair (mom, everyone at schoooool has them....) I hate myself for it but she's been bugging me for months, a watch DD12- Laptop (thank you WM!), Pictionary, Jenga, Ipod touch Bunch of DS and Wii games too. Teachers are getting wine glasses (we import glasses and my poor kids always have to cart the heaviest gifts onto the bus!) Mom- she loves those bath & bodyworks plug-ins so when I go to the States i pick her up a bunch, an electric snowblower so she can do the walkway without much effort. phew, I think I'm done. Not as big a list as most here but I'm already fed up of shopping!
  4. Vermont odes not charge tax on clothing or shoes
  5. Yeah! Finally got the ipod and the harmony remote!
  6. i hope lenscrafters is having a bf sale because after staring at my computer screen for so long I'm going to need glasses...

  8. i've been refreshing for hourrrs. my eyes are about to bonk out of my head.
  9. i think bb went on a coffee break
  10. I saw a trend while I was waiting and refreshing. It seems as though they did the least popular categories first (games, movies etc), then moved on to gps, cameras. I think they are giving everyone in each category time to checkout so they don't overload the system at once. of course the laptops and ipod are the last to go up(both of which I'm waiting for), only the morons like me will stay up till 4am to wait for it. I guess it beats hanging out in the cold!
  11. I think it's better to wait. I think when it gets updated, it somehow gets removed from the cart.
  12. Last year I bought a box of the beads to make jewerly at Kmart for a friends kid. my friend never forgave me for that. She said there were beads for 6 months all over the house. I don't have kids so at the time I didn't really think of it. Just thought the kid would like them!
  13. I have three roomba's (found them all at the flea market for $30.00 each!). I really love them. They were my best purchase for the house so far. I have a central vac I never even pull out. I just turn the roomba on in the morning and when i get home floors are spotless and it's back charging. Wouldn't give mine up for anything! Even got my Mom and a couple of friends to buy them and they love it too! Everyone thinks their a crock until they get one for themselves. Then they don't know how to live without it!
  14. I'm feeling really guilty about what I bought this year. I talked to a few people and I think they think I spoil my stepkids. After reading some of these forums, I feel a little better:) Here's my list DD 10 LCD Monitor for her computer Crayola Glow Station Little purse with a stuffed dog in it (she loves that stuff) Rockband for Wii DS Games Dance Dance Party for Wii Fleece bed sheets Scrapooking kit DD13 Digital Camera Green Ipod Nano Sony Ipod Clock Radio Manicure set DS16 Hockey Skates GC to shopping mall ??? I don't even remember the rest of the stuff I bought for them. Christmas is getting wayyyy out of hand in our house!
  15. I was at BB at 5am but after that I went to Walmart. Couldn't understand why at 6:30 or so they had 90% of their stock still on the floor. I didn't really want anything there except the Shopvac, and was surprised that they had a pallet not even touched! Just as I was going past the TV's, I seen people yelling and screaming over them. I thought, why are they doing this at 6:30 and not 5am? My question was answered when I got to Staples. At 5am WM had a transformer that blew, and they threw everyone out of the store (made them leave their shopping carts and everything). I didn't realize it, but I was one of the first to be let back in the store! What a mess it must have been! Anyway I got everything I wanted (less the Shopvac because I thought it was a 5hp and it was only a 2hp). Here's my list Target Little Tikes Digital camera -$20 BB 2 Acer monitors -$99 each Staples 8Gb USb-$15.99 Staples Motorola headset $9.99 AR Sams- got 7 Scrapbook sets at $9.99 each(usually $35.00!) great for birthday gifts for the kids friends!) Sears $99 toolbox BB Green Ipod Nano $149- 20$ GC which someone stole from me (just the GC) Kmart $30 carpet Missout on the Lowes Dewalt $20 set Otherwise got all my stuff and was home by 8am :)
  16. Anyone know if these are going to have a rebate? Reading the forums here I saw rebatestatus is going oob, and am uncomfortable with the rebate situation this year. Is it just a instore discount? Man, I'm reading into Black Friday stuff way too much!

    Are Ads Changing?

Hi All, I just wanted to know if anyone else noticed the Ace Hardware Makita drill ($49.99) has been removed? I'm sure I saw it as a doorbuster, but now it seems to have disappeared. Also the Sams club Wii deal supposedly is a fake but it seems to still be in the ad scans. Are there last minute changes always? PS Love this site!
  18. I have a hard time buying for my stepdaughters, 13 and 10 because they pretty much have everything from previous Christmases and birthdays (ipods and ds's etc.). This year I'm getting them for the 13 year old a new ipod (someone stole hers at school) a digital camera one of those ipod clock radios fleece bedsheets manicure set movie theater gc's For the 10yo she's getting the Crayola Glow Station a Scrapbook set a dance mat game for the wii and a coin jar that counts the money you put into it(she loves to save $$). Movie theater gc's Hopefully they give me their lists soon, I can't think of anything else (that's why I'm here ;-)
  19. Gr8girls- thanks for letting me know about ELF! My stepdaughter is just getting into nails and makeup, and their prices are so reasonable! And I used a coupon that got me 50% off on top of that! Thanks again! 1 christmas item off my list!
  20. We actually have taken him to a school therapist as well as a psychologist. The therapist said he seems well rounded, just badly influeneced by his best friend. He was at a point 2 years ago where he didn't have many friends etc.. Now he's got alot of friends and I think tries to act cool around them. Talking in class, hanging out with them after school, not listening to us. We want to bring him down a notch, but don't want to bring down his self esteem as well. This is why we are having such a hard time deciding whether he deserves these items or not. One good suggestion is to give the wii to the family. I love that suggestion as he never lets his sisters use his stuff most of the time. But I definately will be "holding" some items until his grades are up. Man, were we this bad at that age???
  21. Thnak you all for the advice! I love these boards, they are always so helpful, even with real life! (and you can get some great deals here too!). People may think I'm going over the top buying him a wii and a nano and a 19" monitor, but the thing is we don't usually buy things for the kids all year long. We buy them clothes and other little things, but we always saved the big stuff for Christmas. DS may sound spoiled, and maybe he is a little bit. But alot of kids in my neighborhood have all these things and he actually has way less than them due to his attitude. I really like the idea of holding the gift until he does better in school, the problem is, it really doesn't bother him if we take the item away from him or not. I guess the best option would be like a poster said, to buy items like sheets and so. And explain to him what he's missing out on by misbehaving. Hopefully this will work, I've tried everything and the kid just hates to listen. (his best friend is a kid who is 16 and in grade 7). On a lighter note, I did get a duvet cover when I was that age, and I hated it! My parents thought I was grown up enough for it, but they were wrong... Thanks Perkyn punctual for reminding me!
  22. Hi All, My ds 15 has been doing poorly in school this year (sheer laziness), has gotten into alot of trouble skipping school (he got caught) and lies about doing his homework (hence the doing badly in school). Also doen't listen to what we say to him. I have several items on my list to get him including a 19" lcd monitor, 8gb nano and a wii (already purchased). The problem is I can't bring myself to think he deserves these gifts. About $600.00 in gifts for a kid that just lays around doing nothing. His sisters have less expensive gifts (nintendo ds's and littlest pet shop items etc..) but have several gifts to open on Xmas day (13 each). My problem is do I get him the gifts and reward his bad behavior? We got him a pair of pants for his birthday but he was so sad after. I know he's a teenager, but when I was young and did something terrible, I certainly didn't get a $250 wii. Anyone else with experience would be greatly appreicated!
