Turtle Mommy Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 Normally at my Walmart at 5 a.m. the shrink wrap comes off and the associates move out of the way and let the grabbing begin. I walked in to Walmart at 4:45 am and people were already standing at the check out lanes waiting to check out at 5. There carts were full!  If the sale starts at 5 then it starts at 5. Next year I will get there at 4 so I wont have the same trouble(I have been going to Walmart on bf for almost 12 years and have never had this happen.). So what was your experience? Did they wait or not?
rimshot Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 The hot items were already unwrapped or just in carts to grab when I arrived at 4:45 am. They put my tv in my cart for me and told me I had to stay at the display until 5 am before moving on. DD was in the area with the PSP's, 1gb sd cards and MP3 players and they let you grab what you wanted and stay there too. The computers were in the back so not sure how that worked.
misshayley Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 There were some items that you had to wait on the plastic wrap to be removed and other items were just sitting out in the open. But mainly people were waiting
shanni Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 You couldn't get any of ours until 5AM, they were all wrapped or out back until then.
laffnatu Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 Everything was wrapped until 5am. Hardly any of the pallets had prices on them. If you didn't have an ad, you had no idea how much something cost unless you checked it.
Illinoismom Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 When I went to Walmart at 2:00am I put all my price matching items in the cart. Then walked around for a bit, I saw people I was in line with last year and chatted, and then put the people I was with at pallets that had things I wanted, Now I spoke with a walmart employee I knew and asked if an Item is out in the open and not wrapped is it fair game, two of them said as long as I didnt touch the shrink wrap I would be fine, I put the PJ, 2 one and two pairs of jeans, and the sewing machine, and the memory cards in my cart, then I and my girl who works with me son went and waited for the MP3 players, Had my daughter waitng on the movies, My son on the camara's he and a lady worked together she went to the flash drives and he got her her two camara's, my other daughter and her friend were at the brat dolls, and the girl who works with me was at the TV's, . I did do what I said and passed out donuts and we were checked out of the store by 5:15, they got got what was needed as soon as the wraps came down and met at the check out.
coldmorning Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 5 a.m. Things were still shrink wrapped. Some items the Wal Mart workers didn't get too and the customers pulled off the shrink wrap at 5 a.m. Nothing at our Wal Mart had prices on it either. The employees were writing with black markers on the boxes as people were grabbing items.
Guest JeepMom Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 At our store some of the toys were half wrapped, to where, without touching plastic I could put items in my cart. I had an ASSociate remove the items herself and put them back.
sherrinfred Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 The Walmart I go to doesn't open til 5am but this year they let us inside the store at 4:15. They told us to go stand by the item we wanted or walk around the store but we couldn't pick anything up or put anything in our carts. If you did then you would be escorted out of the store and couldn't come back until the sale started. They had employees walking all over. All of items were open in the isleways. Nothing was covered up. At 5:00 they announced us to begin. I didn't mind too much since I wasn't standing in the cold anymore......lol.
sherrinfred Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 Everything was wrapped until 5am. Hardly any of the pallets had prices on them. If you didn't have an ad, you had no idea how much something cost unless you checked it.My store was like that also. I did notice that they had a large sticker stuck on one item in the bunch.
Bunniq Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 I went to a SuperCenter which didn't close. We walked around a bit getting PM items, and then found the pallets with the sales items we wanted and stood by them. A little before 5am someone decided they had waited long enough and ripped the wrap off of the portable dvd players and getting several and then a chain reaction started.
theboyzmom Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 ours had posted that they would be closed 12-5, so we went at 4 planning on standing in line....store was open and people had their carts FULL...bunch of the stuff we wanted was already gone...and ours was one that pulled possible price-matching items too
elena_398 Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 All Walmart items were on the floor and announcement was made by 3:30am that any item could be put in their cart. I got my items and just stood from there at a checkout until 5am. It was great. Out of the store by 5:10am
2apples Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 The wrap came off at 4:30, but you couldn't touch until 5
jennirv4967 Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 Most stuff was shrink wrapped until 5, and customers tore it off to get the items. But most the electronics items weren't wrapped, and we all had to crowd around the items and put our hands on it.
heavenlysshine Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 When I got there at 3:30 nothing was shrink-wrapped, but they wouldn't let you walk away with the tvs. I walked around putting all the other stuff in my cart and by 4am they decided we could put TVs in our carts. I was third in line at a cash register at 5am! I didn't see anything that could be pricematched removed from the shelves, thank goodness. ~H~
civicracinggirl7 Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 We got to ours around 4:30 am, and everything was unwrapped already. A lot of people were in line with full carts as well. We got everything we wanted (except for the Star Wars DVDs, since they decided to put the Xbox/PSP/GB Micro in the middle of the aisle by the electronics, so that entire area was pretty much blocked off with people waiting), then had to wait about 10 minutes in line to check out at 5. Got out of there around 5:15, then had to go back after being at CC for 40 minutes, and still not moving in the line.
angel-too Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 Well I had the one item I wanted at Meijer "hidden" but there were workers guarding each stack of doorbusters, they wouldnt let you touch them till 5. I waited near the register at about 4:55 to check out. The lady said come on thru, I said I dont think I can pay for this yet, she said we'll see and they rang up DB price. I was out at 5:01
sleepyshopper Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 Black wrap doesn't come off until 5am sharp...then you can start loading up.
