RascalMJ Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 I am in the market for a TV. I had a 37 CRT flat screen Samsung for about a year and loved the thing. However it blew a fuse and to make a long story short.... to try to get it back up and running (perfectly) I destroyed it. I watch a lot of TV shows usually about 2-3 hours a day, on the weekends I like to prtety much watch all day.....especially on football Sundays. I ma just overwhelmed by all the choices. I would like some suggestions on any TV's that I should look into. I have a fairly big living room....with a lot of natural Sunlight that can be some what dimmed. I have heard something like all TV's will be out of date in a year or so, or something like that... so I am looking to NOT spend a lot (up to 1,500 or so). Any suggestions would be GREAT. Thank You. I saw on the BB site you can get a free recliner. My fiance would love this....so that is a consideration in price. They say it is a $400 value. thanks again
figarotigger Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 Just finished a 55:53 minute phone call with Best Buy internet customer service re: Bluetooth for $29.99. When placed in the cart it is $61.72 not $29.99. I realize there was a better sale on Black Friday, but I worked 10 hrs customer service that day and didn't bother to go to Best Buy or even try to order online after last years experiences. CSR "L" I thought this was short for Ellen or Elinor, but the Supv called herself "N" (heavy accent also), told me that perhaps it was buy one get one for $29.99 since if you add a second -the 2nd one comes up for $29.99 but not the first. (I had tried this and told her-she also entered this). I also asked if perhaps the sale hadn't started but was assured it had. "L" then told me that she would send this to their Customer Assistance department and I would receive a contact back in 10 days!!!!! Not acceptable, I still have quite a few Best Buy bucks left. I then asked for a Supv., waited and was told they were also answering calls and that "L" would send this to the other department. Then I asked for a manager, waited and got Supv "N". Supv "N" admitted (after I recapped earlier conversation) that they were getting other calls re: Bluetooth, that this was being looked into, and that I will probably receive an e-mailed resolution "later" and not a phone call. She also suggested that I check back periodically to see if this is resolved to order. Supv "N" then added that "Best Buy would work to resolve any problems." We'll see.
Brad Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 Nice deal on a Westinghouse 42" LCD HD Monitor (no tuner) for $999 shipped: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8114541&type=product&productCategoryId=pcmcat95100050044&id=1158318442758 http://images.bestbuy.com/BestBuy_US/images/products/8114/8114541_ra.jpg
gmsuv Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 Looking at the Best Buy cyber sale for a new monitor. Problem is that as of 8pm EST, 2 of the 3 monitors on sale are ALREADY SOLDOUT. This stinks. But on a lighter side, on BF at 11:45am (just before the secret sale items ended) I was able to get one of the Samsung Nexus 50 XM radios for the sale price of $49.99. Then on Saturday night (about 9 pm) when I realized it didn't come with a car kit and it had to be docked to receive the XM signals, I exchanged it for a Pioneer Inno. The Inno came with both a home and car kit, special antenna headphones, free activation, a $30 XM service gift card and a $50 rebate, all for the price of the Inno with home kit alone. Now while standing in line for future BF specials I will be able to be entertained by XM radio. Hey how about next year setting up a special BF XM radio broadcast with live updates to the sales?
figarotigger Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 RE: my earlier post on the Bluetooth-checked the website just before noon and the price was changed. No need to buy one to get a second one at a discounted price. Ordered, paid with Best Buy bucks (still have quite a few left). Picked up at the store a few hours later. No email notification or phone call. Since I was promised a contact per the Supv., I'll let you know if I hear anything or not ( I would like an apology-at least it was a weekend-I am very irritated about being lied to. Also, the attitude that I should just pay the price, even though the ad was clear.). No customer service call should take 55 minutes and change. We'll see.
BFQueenofNY Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 I am so glad I saved my monopoly cash. I just got 2 roboraptors for FREEEEEEEEE :eyepoppin
Coll Storm Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 I gotta tell you... I'm not a very happy person right now in regards to Best Buy. So, I decided tonight to check out my order status, and when doing so came across the "2 Day Cyber Monday Sale". I had order the Insignia 27 inch TV for a price of 600.00 + 100.00 service plan + 25.00 tax = 725.00 for the whole bang. I click on the ad for the sale and what do I see... Insignia 32 inch HDTV for the same... exact... price.... So, I called up Best Buy and told them that I wanted to cancel my order, so that I could order the 32 inch that was on sale for the same price. The operator asked me for the SKU number for the 32 inch tv, and I didn't think anything of it. He cancelled my order and I went to get the 32 inch TV. I placed it in my cart and went to check out... AND THE PRICE JUMPED UP BY $100.00 DOLLARS!!!!! So, I called Best Buy back and all of a sudden the manager is trying to explain to me that the price was probably adjusted, because the sale was over. I tried explaining to the moron that it was a "Cyber Monday" sale and then proceeded to ask him, "what day is it?" and he told me, "Monday". I then asked him "why would a sale called Cyber Monday end when Monday isn't over with?". He was baffled. So, go back to order the Insignia 27 inch, but noticed the price has now gone up $30.00 since Friday. I go to place the order, but because the order was cancelled... I now have to wait up to five days for my credit card to be reimbursed. I'll now be placing my order with some other place, because Best Buy has ruined my week.
