  1. Purchased a cotton sweater (on sale for $19) , used the following codes: SHIPFREE for free standard shipping FREERUSH free Beauty Rush lip gloss set (trio) with sweater purchase CLOTH20 for 20% off clothing purchase total was $15.20 plus $1.03 tax + $16.23and should receive the mystery gc good Dec. 1-24 the FREERUSH code does mention that it is not good on clearance There is a PINK code out there, but I have deleted the email. If the card is worth the $10 minimum, then I'll still have the sweater and lip gloss set plus something else for $10 to spend in the store.
  2. The Christmas ornament idea works very well. My Grandparents did this as an additional gift every year and all of we grandkids enjoy the head start we had on our Christmas trees. I've continued the tradition with my niece/nephews/cousin's children. Money has been tighter the last few years, so instead of the Hallmark ornaments, I've been getting ones from Target and using them instead of bows on the childrens' packages. At the Christmas party, not only do the kids shake their packages, they try to guess whose present is whose by the ornament on the package. I've been told by their parents that when the family tree is decorated, the kids know which ornaments are "theirs" each year and insist on finding the "right" spot. As far as a collectible gift for a girl, have you looked at the Disney store? As early as a year old, the kids will have a Disney character they like. By getting one of the collectible items each year, it makes a special collection that can be quite valuable by the time they are adults.
  3. Could you send a gift to his home? Cheryl's Cookies, Hickory Farm, Harry & David, Sugarbush, Sees Chocolates (lets you individualize a box of chocolates if you want-fun!) etc.? Or as a last resort, mail a giftcard in a Christmas card after the family party? The suggestions are food related because single people tend to not cook the variety that families do because of the leftovers. Most gift baskets have a little of everything. My neighbor is single and unlike me, does not have a family Christmas dinner. He saves any presents from work/friends for Christmas Day and savors every one.
  4. McDonalds coupon books are also $1 for 12 coupons 3 ea 1 free hamburger 3 ea 1 small fry 3 ea 1 small apple dipper 3 ea 1 small cone state on the back: Valid at participating McDonalds. Redeemable by children age 12 and under ONLY. One coupon redeemed per visit. expire 12/31/2009 there's more, but these are the highlights.
  5. The ad in Columbus, OH stated that you had to have a $25 purchase of health & beauty and/or grocery items to double the 10 coupons. The way this works at the local K-Mart (and the $25 requirement is posted all over the store with the coupon limit-they are strict here) is to make certain that at least $25 worth of the items you purchase fit into these catagories. The $25 is BEFORE coupons. The last time, I purchased: Pledge duster refills $2.99+ketchup $1.50+Lays potato chips $5.00 for 2+Combos cheddar $1.50+cat food $14.22=$25.21 in grocery(5 coupons to double+ free coupons for the ketchup and Combos)+ listerine $4.29+Sani-hands wipes 4/$9.96 -these were listed as general merchandise on the receipt(another 5 coupons) Total before coupons $40.66 after coupons(- $27.74)=$12.92 most of which was the cat food. There was someone at Customer Service when I went in that was complaining that her coupons were not doubled and was told it was because she didn't have the $25 worth of items in the Heath & beauty and grocery catagories. I would have thought the wipes and mouthwash would be considered Health & Beauty, but not per my receipt, so I will be careful if I go this week. I didn't plan the $25.21 total in groceries, so I was lucky. Most stores don't consider pet food to be grocery which is why I bought the wipes and mouthwash (which were approx. $14 also because they were supposed to bring me up to the $25 requirement-really fortunate that pet food and treats are grocery). This is the only store that I have ever shopped at where the receipt breaks down your groceries into catagories. Experienced K-mart shoppers-are shampoo, soap, shaving cream, vitamins considered Health & Beauty? I really don't want to have any surprises this time. If someone could check their receipt, I would appreciate knowing this.
  6. The small $6 sizes are part of the 4/$10 deal with the free cosmetic bag while supplies last. I picked up 3 of the foot cream for my Mom as 3 of my 4 items. Otherwise, if you can wait for the clearance the buy 2 get 2 sounds great.
  7. When you buy anything in the store, you will be given a $10 off of $30 purchase coupon. The lambie blankets are also 50% off-so now $17.75. If the blanket wears as well as the robe, it will last forever!!! Purchase a $1 gift bag, fingernail file(all of the manicure sets, toe separators, nail files, and shower brushes are 75% off). I purchased 4 each of the normally $4-$6 samples for 4/$10 and received the cosmetic pouch that matches the bag ($5 normally $40 for free. Most of the Christmas scents (lotion, warmers etc), candles. coffee cups, cookie jars are also 50% off.
  8. Justice at Polaris in Columbus OH received more Webkinz on Tues. They ARE part of the ENTIRE store buy one get one free sale. you can always call the stores around you to see if they have the Webkinz you need. Justice is now accepting Limited Too gift cards as of this week, but not the disount coupons.
  9. I signed up at www.shopatJustice.com on Thursday for emails and received a 25% off coupon today, good through 11/26 online(with $5 shipping code also) or good in stores. Used this today to get Webkins BOGO. The Polaris store in Columbus OH had EVERYTHING in the store BOGO and with certain purchase amounts you are getting a free gift card. The cashiers were very good about reminding people to have even #'s of items so that they didn't lose out on something free, also letting people know how much more they would need to spend to get a giftcard back.
  10. Check out the Veterans Day sale on the BBW website TODAY-there is an offer for free sweetest softest socks when you buy the robe-you may need to click on the specials link on the left side. The coupon code is on the homepage at the top as well as the $10 gift card offer. I went through the link in my email-I don't know how to post them, so perhaps someone more computer literate will do so for you. I have the white robe from the first year they were available and it is WONDERFUL!!! The slippers are the worst to walk in, so I can't recommend the matching slippers, the socks are a great ides though.
  11. Call any drycleaners. The majority will just ask how many would you would like and hand them to you. I say to call because they throw hundreds away, and if you call, they will set them aside instead of throwing them in the trash. In college towns, the drycleaners sometimes will sell them instead, but they are MUCH cheaper than 10 for $1. If you haven't already. join startsampling.com, bookmark the free samples on Walmart, join the mailing lists for Tide, Wisk, P&G, etc and start getting those samples sent to you(see the free samples threads). Read the CVS, Walgreens threads, join coupon websites, and you will end up spending pennies instead of $$$for laundry detergent, shampoo, soap etc. Enjoy that place of your own
  12. We went around 4:30pm to the new Cheesecake Factory at Polaris shopping mall in Columbus, OH. It openned on 06/30/08-the area around it is still a construction zone , we were able to be seated right away. The cheesecake was full sized for $1.50-they were out of Peanut butter cookie dough, banana cream, and one other cheesecake. We split a lunch entree, then ordered the carmel creme and rasberry. Mom couldn't finish her's and took half home. When we left, people were lined up down the hall (the main entrance isn't open yet as the area it faces is still a contruction zone). Wonderful freebie.
  13. Bath & Bodyworks has some things marked down to 90% off right now. There were still some full sized hand lotions, bubblebath, body sprays for 75% off making them $2.37 plus tax, some of the soap bars for 88 cents plus tax, a new lotion in a trial sized bottle for $1. This states any purchase-they really mean this. I not only received the email on Friday, but also a card in the mail for the same thing with different codes-one for me and one for a friend. I purchased a body lotion on Saturday with my freebie and 2 bars of soap (could have bought one, but I like to put one out at each sink)yesterday for the postcard freebie. This purchase had the survey on the bottom for the $10 off 30, Saturday's purchase did not.
  14. "Fly Southwest!!!!! A few years ago, a man was bringing his 2 small dogs on a flight and the attendents announced in the boarding area that there would be 2 dogs on the flight if there were no objections. The man held up the dog carriers and said they woukd be good-the attendents smiled and said that they would make one more anouncement prior to boarding because people have allergies" The discussion was that if anyone objected to the dogs, they would either fly as cargo or the man could wait until another flight. The man was protesting and stating how small and good the 2 little dogs were, but the flight attendents were adamant. The man was very relieved that no one objected. As an allegic asthmatic who has had only 1 major problem in over 60 flights, I was impressed.
  15. Fly Southwest!!!!! A few years ago, a man was bringing his 2 small dogs on a flight and the attendents announced in the boarding area that there would be 2 dogs on the flight if there were no objections. The man held up the dog carriers and said they woukd be good-the attendents smiled and said that they would make one more anouncement prior to boarding because people have allergies!!! Last year on a Southwest flight, a couple announced that their child was allergic to nuts just as the attendents began to pass out the pachages-the attendents picked up all packages already dispensed(and counted them) while an anouncement was made that there was a child with severe allergies on board-please do not eat anything with peanuts that the passengers may have purchased themselves, that it was lifethreatening to the child. When we were deplaning, I heard the chief attendent explaining to the couple how to have this noted when they made reservations so a differnet snack could be loaded for all of the passengers. There was also an anouncement made prior to landing thanking the passengers for their courtesy in the matter of the no peanut request. These 2 epsiodes really impressed me-as did an attendent stopping someone from applying nail polish on another flight.
  16. The Justice stores also carry the Webkinz(lil kinz), but are marked up to $12.95 and $13.95 depending on the store. I know because my niece got the pig as part of her birthday last month and I took her shopping at 2 Justice stores-the prices were different! She was upset that I wouldn't let her get it at those stores until we went to Hallmark and picked it up for $9.99-then it was all "how stupid those other people were to buy at the higher price when Hallmark was only 2 minutes further down the road." I'm TRYING to show her to shop right(sigh) Try calling the stores-most will hold one for you if you ask. Good luck.
  17. Check out the GroundHog, very cute, very snuggly, only available for a limited time.
  18. My niece picked out this bear for her birthday at Build-a-Bear last weekend. There is a very cute dress with shamrocks that matches the bear that should bring the total up to the $25. There were Valentine's day stickers at the register for asking. We had purchased the $10 gift card for $5 offered every Dec., so used that, a $10 rewards certificate (always scan your Stuff Fur Stuff card-you get double points for birthday months-so it is possible to get a $10 coupon for every $50 you spend instead of every $100) used the magazine coupon mentioned in the previous post for $5 off of an animal, and the $5 Birthday coupon(my niece also picked out a bed.) Some of the coupons prohibited stacking-but the cashier used them all in one transaction rather than have us split them up. Total was $25 off, so only spent $6.xx plus the $5 spent in Dec for the gift card!! If my nephew wants to go for his birthday, we are hoping for another $5 off of an animal coupon and $5 birthday card-but there are never guarantees. With the money saved, my niece went to Justice for clothes and to Hallmark for a Webkinz. Obviously, a very happy girl.
  19. Staples has a $10 gift check rebate (available as easyrebate online) with purchase of select Taxcut products (sku 713658, 713662, 713660). Rebate begins 12/30/07 and ends 02/16/08. I combined this with a $20 off of $100 purchase card I received in the mail and bought other software that was free after instant and mail in rebates. Total $126.75 minus the $20 made my purchases $106.72 and I mailed/online for rebates of $90. This will make my $39.99 Taxcut plus state and federal $16.72 the other software free.
  20. Call the 800#. Last year my rebate should have been $3 and I was only sent $2. I called and was sent 5 coupons for $3 off of any Hasbro product!!! Now I know that the Spiderman action figures (including motorcycles) are Hasbro-not just the games. This was a fantastic response-I've never been so happy to have a rebate error. When I called, I agreed to ONE coupon-this was a jackpot.
  21. Costco in Columbus OH marked this down to $39.97 today-I was shocked. They have marked other items down but other than the Hannah Montanna Concert Stage with doll for $39.99 with instore coupon, I hadn't seen anything else marked down that was this popular.
  22. Cheryls Cookies has free shipping or $ off most Christmas items on their website. The cookies are individually wrapped and freeze well or keep in the fridge if you want to make them last. I live close to where they are made and have sent them to family on occasions. They have brownies available wrapped or by the tray. One of the airlines used to serve their fruit/chocolate bread as part of the breakfast. They have 19 varieties of cookies to choose from for Christmas this year if you want to individualize the assortment. Since your brother likes homemade baked goods-this might be right up his alley.
