disneytati
i just rub butter over the whole thing and then sprinkle adobo on it, for those who don't know adobo is a pre mix of spices you can get in the supermarket usually in the spanish section. the one i use contains salt, garlic, oregano, black pepper, turmeric, (and tricalium phoshate to prevent caking). i like the one with the pepper but there are different ones you can get, i use it on most of my meats, just becareful if you use to much it can be salty. and just baste to keep the bird moist as you normally do.Well, there's no Adobo here, but I have those spices at home. So, rub butter over it, then sprinkle spices over it, and cook it in the pan...

lisamag
Well, there's no Adobo here, but I have those spices at home. So, rub butter over it, then sprinkle spices over it, and cook it in the pan...yeah thats it, if you want you can add a extra butter to the juice when you put the potatoes in just to give a little extra flavor. let me know if you try it and how it comes out, we love it here. shame you can't get the adobo it's great to use. i'm not much on using spices so it's a blessing to me. lol:D
Gator Pam
Hi all. I've been AFK as I spent the past three days fixing our Village community Thanksgiving dinner, which was served last night. We had 98 show up for dinner. I made: 1 Good Eats Roast Turkey (15 lb.)1 Deep Fried Turkey (15 lb.)2 Honey Suckle White Smoked Turkeys (10.75 lb. each)2 Crockpot Stuffings35 lb. home made mashed potatoes (30 lb. peeled, cubed and boiled white potatoes with five whole heads of peeled garlic cloves boiled with the potatoes, butter, sour cream, 1/2 & 1/2, and seasonings)1 quart home made gravy (I saved some of the juices for reheating the turkeys I cooked the day before)and Cranberry Jell-O Salad I bought 1 can of jellied cranberry sauce (still have about 1/3 can leftover), 1 can of whole berry cranberry sauce (ditto), 4 containers of Ocean Spray Cranberry Orange relish for Chicken (gone, as well as the Cranberry Jell-O Salad), and a full sheet cake from Sam's Club (half hite cake ith strawberry filling/half chocolate cake with bavarian cream filling). We had left over ice cream (1.25 gallon buckets of chocolate, vanilla, & orange and cream plus 10 different half gallon flavors) from our Ice Cream Social on Wednesday night. We also still had jars of various syrups and toppings, with whipped cream. Sodas and fruit juices were served as well. I'm beat, but FIL is coming here for Thanksgiving, so today I'll purchase our supplies and start organizing. If I go with a frozen turkey, I have to at least get that in to the refrigerator to defrost. My Publix accepts competitors coupons, and have frozen turkeys for 69 cents/lb. albertsons has a coupon for $5.00 off a frozen turkey, and I got a Catalina from WD for $10 off a $50 purchase. So, I think Publix will get my Thanksgiving business this year.

alimfp
I did last year, but this year BIL and future (I hope) SIL are going too. Not sure what we're having this year. I imagine turkey but MIL once cooked us up ham, so it may be ham (I hope not.. I want turkey!). I'm taking a fruit/veggie tray, baking cookies (chocolate chip) and taking a loaf of banana bread.
