queenki Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 I have been shopping with my cousins wife for about 3 years, she is always as excited as I am. But no one else is. They all want us to get them stuff but we always have a lot of things to get for ourselves. Is it mean to say no to those lazy people?
shanni Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 I say no to the ones that could go themselves, they just don't want to be bothered. I never say no to those that are elderly or disabled, even though sometimes it can be a royal pain the ass.
Novac Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 Naah. When they get up and wait in line, that's when they can pick out what gets bought!
jellybean051901 Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 I don't mind buying stuff for other people as long as I get what I am going for. The way I look at it is I am there already.
Marcster Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 I don't mind buying stuff for other people as long as I get what I am going for. The way I look at it is I am there already.Me too! http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Yes/th6dc0616a.gif
Trish1298 Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 I would probably grab what they needed if I happen to be right there, but I would not risk missing out on what I wnated to get there stuff. If they don't wan to get up to go shopping, they don't want the stuff that bad.
kboyts Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 Same here, I figure why should I spend all night freezing out side while they get to sleep in and ask me to do their shopping for them?
luv2shopnc Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 If I can stand in line so can they! The early bird catches the worm!
Turtle Mommy Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 BF is all about my boys. If someone wants something they better get up as early as I do and get out and get it. I am focused on my boys and family that day.
hpowers Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 I'm the same as others, if it doesn't interfere with my shopping then I will get it. I've purchased a lot of stuff in the past for other people.
momof5plus1hubby Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 My dad gives me 600 dollars and tells me to spend 100 on each kid and 50 on me and DH. I am usually happy about this, but then I have to figure out what to get and then I have to wrap it LOL. I like to get tons of small gifts so it looks like he got them alot:D Nowadays it is sometimes hard with 100 dollars.
bayhaysay Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 I don't mind buying stuff for other people as long as I get what I am going for. The way I look at it is I am there already.Yep, as long as it's not something really big and bulky I don't mind at all. I think it's kinda fun.
starshine Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 I will only buy stuff for my mom who can't go any more. If anyone else want's something they can come stand in the cold with me and get it. I have enough to worry about getting my own stuff!
Stowasser Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 My dad gives me 600 dollars and tells me to spend 100 on each kid and 50 on me and DH. I am usually happy about this, but then I have to figure out what to get and then I have to wrap it LOL. I like to get tons of small gifts so it looks like he got them alot:D Nowadays it is sometimes hard with 100 dollars. This is what my parents do, they give us money so if I want to spend it at that time I can. I use to shop for all three sets of grandparents and it was too much, I was doing all the shopping (of course not all on BF) but its a hassle so I tell the grandparents they can either give them money or I will have the kids send them online wish list from different stores etc and they can pick. So far, they have just given money!
abentley Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 Actually when people find out I go out.. I hear more ridicule that anything. Seriously. I live in a small town where people DO NOT SHOP SALES!! All we have is Walmart- so we do get a crown that morning with it supporting around 70-80k people in the area. Nobody ever wants anything..they just act like it would be beneath them!!LOL!! I save money, they don't.
colelane2001 Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 I normally shop for others that day, but I don't really worry about getting them the door busters. I am normally just grabing the smaller things for them. The only reason they even ask me too is because they know that I like to shop.
AndreaInNC Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 If they are able to go shopping but choose not too .. I usually tell them yeah .. I'll get what you want .. then after all MY shopping is complete I'll look for their stuff. I normally don't end up getting them anything on their list tho .. that's too bad for them - huh?
Cecilliadb Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 I wouldnt mind. Not everyone likes the crowds and I like shopping no matter who's money it is I'm spending lol.
berry1014 Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 I will be picking up a few things for my mom cause she has offered to watch our kids this year on BF. She didn't like standing out in the cold last year.
brynnfromtheblock Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 For the most part if they want something at a store I'm already planning on going to, I'll try and get it, but I'm gettin' my stuff first!!! My aunt is unable to leave the house due to illness and we do try and find a way to get her what she wants for her kids though...
zoemariesmamma Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 i usually shop in a group, with all of us going to different places getting everything everyone needs at our particular store...so I shop for other people but they are out there too. usually don't have time after that to do any shopping for others
tdanette Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 As long as they understand that getting my stuff is my first priority and can accept that I may not be able to get what they want, I don't really mind. Then too it would depend on how big their list was.
Guest bluesrule9 Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 I agree with the tdanette. And you guys know, some people are just not good with crowds etc. Me, I thrive on the "thrill of the chase"....
able Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 i would say id get it foer myself first ...then the other person... if they want the same thing im gettign and i can pick up 2 i will..though this year i might be the one askign someone to get me something...actually i wont ...id miss out, cause im not about to bother someone else ..plus i got so much from amazon and overstock already.
laffnatu Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 I don't mind picking up stuff for others. But if it's the last one and I'm after it too...it's mine! lol My brother slept late last year and I knew that he really wanted to get the Spongebob tv and dvd player for his daughter. So I put it in layaway for him before I left Walmart. He seen all the deals I got last year, so I'm sure he'll get to moving this year..lol.
blakes_mommy Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 I am starting to mind, cause I have my own things to get, I don't need to worry about disappointing someone else.
StillCrying Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 I wouldn't mind picking up something for someone, but not their wish list. My mom and I both shop on BF, so we hit two different stores, and shop each others lists.
CrayZMama80 Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 So far I haven't had anyone ask me to pick up anything. I probably would tho. But I have to take care of my family first. I definitely would help a shut in without a doubt. My mom is 74 yrs old now, and the year before last, she actually came into town to go out with us. Most ppl I know tho said it's not worth the hassle of the craziness. I think it is. With a big family like I have, I need to save whatever I can.
schmitt Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 Honestly there are so many things I am looking for myself that it really doesn't work to shop for others. I will only if it's my mom or MIL otherwise nope.
