Deal Grabber Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 I usually spend about 1500.00 on my two kids.My husband tells me im insane.I try and cut back but how do i cut back after buying so much in the past.My kids arent greedy i think its more me who needs to get them everything. What is the average budget???
Gporter34 Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 I have five kids and I don't spend anywhere near that much.LOL I jusst pay close attention to sales ads and shop my hiny off on BF!LOL
Christy Garner Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 I usually spend about 700 dollars on my two boys. THis year they both want a PSP, each NEEDS a new tv, and the want a weight set together. Don't know if I will be sticking to my 700 dollar limit.
AZwildcatsR1 Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 Around $300 in actual cash for each of 2 kids -- but this is after getting all of the great door buster items (which means the before sale price means it's more like $500 -- so they think they're getting a lot, when I didn't actually spend it!) :)
copados1993 Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 I spend around 300 a kid. This year we are hoping to buy a pool table that flips over and is an air hockey table. I may take it back to about 250 a kid since the pool/hockey table costs so much.
carheel Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 i got 4 kids, age 17,16,15 and 12 snd i will spend about 1,000 total, which includes sending stuff to my son who is at bootcamp right now, but will be at his school at christmas time. they moslty want clothes and electronics.
sns128 Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 I spend about 200 per kid (only have two) and that includes the 100 grandma and grandpa send every year. Some years I spend more, some less...it just depends on what they want that year.
Edgemonster Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 I go way overboard. I only have one child and usually spend anywhere between $600 and $800. This year is going to be pushing it. He needs a new tv and wants the nintendo wii. My wallet is already groaning!
glitterstarr Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 It depends on what my daughter wants year to year. I usually get things that she wants on her list. Last year was around 800 dollars this year her list is not as pricey. So will probally be less than that this year.
Cecilliadb Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 He gets spoiled since he is the first and only grand kid right now so from us he is getting one gift from DH and I, one from Santa and some cloaths.
elena_398 Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 It varies as christmas wants and needs change. I average though about $1000-1200 on the kids
ms_mckenna Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 I don't even want to talk about it Way to much after it is all said and done. We always say well we will only spend 300 or less per child but :cough: it usually balloons. We are talking about getting DS either a PS 3 or a 360 for his big gift so that should say a lot. DH is as bad as I am, he has hinted in suprizing the kids this year with a go kart. In our defense we are the only ones that buy for the kids. Both sets of grands are deceased and they are lucky if they get anything from my ex. So a lot of it is overcompensating for other things . Plus DH buys things for DS that he wants too ie the PS 3
Turtle Mommy Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 I have 2 boys and we spend $500-700 on each one.
Melissa Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 It usually works out to be around $200-$250 per child (we have 2). We don't set a dollar amount, we just get them what they want and/or what we want them to have.
Shortness Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 I have 2 kids, probably around 150.00 a pieceI probably spend about that much. I have 3 kids.
dessenma Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 I probably spend about $300 per kid. We have five so we really need to stick to our budget. One is married so hers gets split between her and her husband. Then I probably spend $150.00 on the two grandkids that belong to them.
alwayslookin Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 I have two kids also and spend $350-$450 on each. r
mom395222 Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 I've never actually added everything up. I try to get them what they want, but I have my limits there too, Like I will not buy any new game systems when they come out when they will be 1/2 the price the next Christmas, so they don't even ask! I will not buy the newly released PS2 games either, I refuse to pay $50 for them, when they'll be $25 in 6 months, if they want the newly released games the buy them with their own money! I always base mine on number of gifts, usually about 20 or 30 each, I always make it even for both.
bayhaysay Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 It really depends on what they are asking for/need at the time. I also don't worry about spending the same amount on each child. I may end up spending $200 more on one than the other two but I always make sure they have the same number of presents under the tree.
Tracy72 Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 I have never really added up what we spend...I know it is to much....lol...
JazzMama Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 It depends - we usually range between $300-450 for our 5-yr old daughter, but we've already bought the "My Twinn" doll and that alone was $150, so we may go above that this year.
krissy72 Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 We spend about $300 per kid, I have 3, but stocking stuffers and anything that costs $5 or less doesn't count.
happysunshine28 Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 According to my bf way too much, last year it was around 3000 for both. This year it will be less, I promise.
ms_mckenna Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 According to my bf way too much, last year it was around 3000 for both. This year it will be less, I promise. I laugh with ya on this one I have said that so many times before.
luv2shopnc Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 Judging by these post, I don't feel alone anymore. I spend big time on my kids. Most of it is b/c I like to play with toys as much as they do!

I can remember one Christmas morning I woke a bit early and peeked into the living room and there my mother was playing with the doll house Santa had left for me. Of course she said she was testing.
