Black Friday: The Game Show

Since we've been talking about our favorite game shows, I figured we could get creative.

If you were to create a game show titled Black Friday, what would it be like? How would you play? What would the rules be? What would the prizes be? Who would be the host, and who would be the announcer? What would be the theme song?

id say it would have compititions of running through stores kinda like shop till you drop shows...meanwhile you must have to wait and deal with people in the line ,kinda like reality shows.. and same time deals and finding them

meanwhile you must have to wait and deal with people in the line ,kinda like reality shows.

Even though :gddrama2:, this would work out well. There's plenty of reality show drama in those lines! From line-cutting arguments to new couples finding out that maybe they can't bear to be with each other in a long line for hours at a time . . . it could work.

Maybe the application/audition process would be the first few weeks of the show, a la American Idol. They'd have to stand in line -- different people with different strategies: Camping out, line cutting, hiding in the store the night before , and all the rest.

Like I said, that would be the first few weeks, before the "meaty" part of the show started.

Different categories for the game: Coupon clipping, price matching, order-of-store strategy, etc.

Clearly, the top contestants would all be GD regulars. :2woot:

Survivor: Black Friday in Fargo, ND

it's have all the great elements of the physical challenges, having enough clothes on to withstand the -10 windchill outside, but being nimble enough to evade fallen shoppers, and long checkout lines inside. Probably have to get a little of the Amazing race in there by going from store to store, and to throw a wrench in it, you have to be under a budget (rebates totally allowed).

For The Amazing Race suggestion earlier: You should only be given a small amount of money at the beginning. You should start out with $5, and then you would have to partake in the "Make Money" rebate offers to earn enough to start buying. By the time Round 2 starts, you'd have to pay that $5 back, so you better make money off the first few rebates!

Perhaps there could be the lightning round. Three items are displayed with their standard retail price, the sale price, and one or two available rebates. Whoever buzzes first needs to correctly determine the best deal. They could also list the same item and the deals from three various stores, and shoppers/contestants would need to buzz in and call out which store to go to.

  • 2 weeks later...
I'm thinking each person would be supplied with a specific list of items that are on in the BF ads. And after standing in the cold for hours and hours they (maybe 20-30 players) are allowed in the doors to complete the list in the least amount of time. Meanwhile the theme song would be another one bites the dust! With the prize being a timed shopping spree in the store of their choice (listed on BF).
