Something that happened to you or someone ya know, something you saw happen and couldn't believe it, an ad you screamed out for joy and scared your neighbors when it finally got scanned. Anything memorale you wanna share with the rest or warn others about.

Wel, guess I'll mention a few things.

Anyone from last year remember the mass confusion caused by Wal-Mart's regional pricing ads, specifically on their computer and laptop they offered? We got the $378 price ad scanned then sometime later someone sent in a scan of the same ad with a $478 price tag on it. Most of us thought it was a fake or a scam for a good while.

Now for a personal BF moment. See, I really wanted that Wal-Mart HP Pavillion laptop, which I still enjoy to this day but I'll explain how I got it. Unfortunately due to certain circumstances I just couldn't scrape up the dough for it. I was a bit down in the dumps about it, even though I did manage to scrape up a tiny lil' bit at the last minute. Not enough to wait in an insanely long line for, I figured. Midnite friday morning came around, when suddenly the wife looked at me and said something along the lines of "What the heck, why not!". We both went to go get in line at the Wal-Mart where she worked, if anything then just for the experience of it. Surprisingly the line hadn't gotten too big yet. Shortly afterwards, about 1am, people suddenly began to really pile in line behind us. Got there just in the nick of time before the line got really humungous behing us.

Flashing forward to just a few minutes before the doors opened, one of my wife's associates was working that morning and just happened to recognize us in passing. She asked us if we were putting anything on layaway today. A bell went off in my head as I was told before their layaway wasn't gonna be open. Turns out they had enough associates to work layaway after all. Woohoo! The wife and I got one of the last Pavillion laptops (one left after us!) , 25" TV, a dozen or so DVDs, and a bunch of other goodies all put on layaway. And all with her associate discount, too! Man, being spontaneous really paid off big. :D

Well I figured out that I am taking a perm. Magic Marker this year to write numbers on everyones hand that stands in line so there is no more confusion and last minute "Oh these people have been here forever". And I who had stood in line for 12 hours had NEVER seen these people! I was able to get my CC Toshiba laptop but there where 5 people behind me that thought they were going to get one but didn't :( Oh yes... and the cops were called as well! LOL Last year was one of the coldest black frdays on record here in Michigan. Lets hope this year is a LOT warmer!!!

My first stop on BF 2005 was Wal-Mart, too-- my smaller, hometown one. I got there around 4:30 or 5:00 am, and there were probably only 20-25 ppl in front of me! :cheesy: About 1/2 hour before opening, the associates handed out coffee and donuts. Woohoo!! :gdmornincoffee:

But probably my favorite moment was when I got the 2 toys that a coworker asked me to pick up for her (she was at TRU, about 50 miles away). I told her I'd call to let her know I got them. She's the only person I've ever called who answered the phone with, "Did you get them??" (no hello or hey or anything!) :P It took me a second to answer her... finally I said, "Well, good morning to you too!"...... then confirmed I'd gotten what she'd wanted. lol

She said when she saw my # on her phone, she knew who was calling and why! But it just felt nice to be able to help her out, esp. since she's usually the one so on top of things and seemingly "perfect"! ;)

I enjoyed the fact I showed up at my area Walmart as its 24 hour and I could wait inside. What I didn't know and made me sooooo happy was they already put all the pallets out on the floor for BF and opened them up. They kept on making loud speaker announcements to go ahead and put what you wanted in the carts but you just couldn't check out till 6am. That was fine with me. So at midnight or alittle later, I had all my BF items in my cart and I was able to go at my own pace to get all my price matched items (only things you had to wait for was the Gameboy sps, laptops, and portable dvd players.). As I didn't want them, it was great for me. I'll be going back to that one this year

I too was at WM first last year - stupidly got there around 1 am for toys. Looking back, I could have at least had a nap before I went - but I was too nervous. Our Super WM was already open (didn't close - a 24-hr store), so I was able to go inside and wait. I ended up befriending others there, so the pallets that I needed something from, but wasn't close to, were covered by 2 other ladies who picked up a toy for me. Our WM had all the BF pallets covered in black plastic wrap - so you couldn't really see what was in them. (Well..... you weren't supposed to know - but if you were tall, you could tell).

The crowds just slowly got bigger - and by 4:45, the store was packed. There was a HUGE line for the electronics department - but all of the laptops had been accounted for. I do believe there were people trying to cut in line - and a lady I had been talking to got cut in front of before they handed out the laptops - so she got pissed!

I was able to get out of WM and over to Staples and get in line (unfortunately it was outside - I got spoiled waiting inside at WM) for the other things I wanted. I totally scored - and the workers at Staples were very quick and nice.

Overall - it was a GREAT BF - and I was done before 9am.

I can't help myself I love BF. I am a nut. And I really DO NOT need most of the stuff. Half the time I do not save a lot because I do not get something very expensive.

Anyway my best memory, though not from 2005. I was at Best Buy at around 8:00 AM. They had eMachine computers for something like $199 or $250. Of course they only had about 20. Well there was one left in a partitioned off section so I asked one of the employees very nicely if I could have it. He went over and got it and told me 'It is yours'.

Not sure if it was an extra, promised to someone, etc. I didn't ask questions.

My dad still uses that computer by the way. Never had any problems with the eMachines we have had.

Last BF, our first "buying" stop was Office Depot. The lady in front of us in line had a digital camera and the 1 GB SD Card. She got all bent out of shape because she wanted her $75 MIR to be credited on-the-spot. Both the cashier and the manager told her twelve different ways that wasn't going to happen, the customer had apparently read just the front of the ad and not the "inside" where it states the conditions of the $75 discount.

So she told 'em they could keep the camera and the 1 GB SD card. Cashier takes both to hand to the manager to put back on the shelf.

I said loudly.... "NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!" The cashier just stopped and looked at me. I said, "If she's not buying the SD card, I will!" (I couldn't find any on the shelf earlier...)

Get a clue lady, read the whole ad next time! Then you can sleep in on BF! http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Rude/smilie_auslachen.gif

Do I have to pick only one? :) I have several.

1. Finding GottaDeal.com!

2. Telling my family, friends, co-workers about GottaDeal.com and BF ads.

3. When they came back to me and said, "Wow your were right!"

4. Deciding to go back to WalMart on my way home, I had passed there around 4am and the line was long. I found two cabbage patch newborns and two ladies about to pounce for them both, but out of the corner of my eye I saw a worker coming over with a cart full of them! I grabbed two and headed to the checkout.

Having GottaDeal.com mentioned on CNN.com :)

Oh, well if we're talking about that stuff.... ;)

Mine would have to be representing GottaDeal on my local NBC channel (and getting to meet the reporter Tracy Davidson).

How did you get "picked" to do the interview anyway? Inquiring minds want to know...:)

How did you get "picked" to do the interview anyway? Inquiring minds want to know...:)

NBC10 contacted Brad and Ross about doing a "Consumer Alert" segment, but NBC10 wanted to do it in-studio.

Brad & Ross knew I was self-employed and could make my own hours and therefore could go into the studio during the day...

Plus, I think they like me. http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Hmmm/dontknow.gif

So, I went in on 11/11/05 for the interview. Ross and I had many phone calls in preperation for it. It's kinda funny now, but it took longer to drive there than I was actually in the studio. ;) (The studio is about 90 minutes away and I was there for maybe an hour).

last year was my first on GottaDeal and I really enjoyed having the time to plan. I think my favorite memory is the time spent on Thanksgiving going through the ads with my mom, dad, daughter, her friend, my cousin and my aunt. I love the time with the family. On Friday we were able to get all the deals we wanted and then some.

Hit Staples first, as they had the most items I wanted. Picked up a HP PSC2610 all in one. Circuit City had them too, and at a better overall price, but as I said, Staples had more items I was wanting. Really wanted 2, as I wanted one for me and one for my daughter. Got out of there about 7:30, and decided to go by CC just to check. The huge crowd was gone, so scoured the store, and they were gone. Another guy was looking for them too. I hunted down a clerk, and asked him to check in back. He said he would, but wasn't sure where they would be, as he didn't normally work in the back. Came back empty handed, and just then he bumped into one of the warehouse guys. They conferred, he went back to the back, and came out with one! The LAST one. The other guy looked at me, I looked at him, and then he said "well, you got the guy so it's yours." Said Thanks, and beat feet for the checkout.

We had so much fun last year. Finding this board was a highlight. My best friend & I go out on BF. We have a routine starting Thanksgiving night. 04 we skipped the Thanksgiving night part & just had a bad day all around on BF. So last year was sooooo much better. We got everything we went after & eat at out favorite place. I have to say though she brought along these handwarmer things. Oh they are amazing. They helped so much in the parking lor of Wal-Mart(luckily it's now a 24 hour one!) & it stayed warm all day. very helpful & highly recommended.

I loved finding gottadeal and sharing ads all over the school where I work. I loved being able to plan ahead and devising strategies with my shopping buddies. We had a great time. I got the cheap computer at Walmart; it was a close call. My heart was pounding. Luckily, the BF adrenaline gave me the super human strength to hang on to the computer even though other people were grabbing at it.

I got my Infocus Home Theater Projector for $499.00 from Staples. Probably the best buy of my life. How many people can actually say they have a 122 inch TV? ...and for 499 dollars, not counting the 80 dollars it cost me to make my screen. If it wasn't for this website, I'd probably still be watching on my 20 inch Sony!

OH! Last year...I was sooo excited to get to wal-mart..I had got my wallet and cell phone (we always have troopers stationed everywhere..lol) on my lap and my purse on my shoulder...I got out of the car...went inside..got everything I was looking for and was in line within 15 minutes of opening (hours after standing in line of course) got ready to pay only to realize I did not have my wallet. I went to see if it was in the car while my mom manned the cart to find it outside right beside the car door  after almost barfing right there in the parking lot I quickly went in and paid for my things!!! SHHH my husband doesn't know!!

I forgot about this last year...do you just bring the ads to the checkout or do you go to customer service?

My best moment was when the guy working in the electronics dept. at WM opened the glass cabinets and sold us Gameboys with the brighter screen for the sale price instead of making us wait in line for the intended Gameboys. That move put us first in line at the checkout with our other stuff!

Well, I did layaway last year, at Walmart(yeah..I know, but I had limited space to hide the toys) and the cashiers back there did all the pricematching.

Worst moment for me was when I got home from work on Thanksgiving night, 11:30, and starting to see the snow fall. I ended up leaving for town at 12:30, to make sure I could make it. If I'd waited, I wouldn't have made it. Sure..I didn't sleep, but all that adrenaline kept me awake.

This one isn't for 2005 but my number 1 BF moment of all time. My sister and I got to Walmart about 25 minutes before it opened and we were in the part of the line that was wrapped around the back of the building, so it was gonna be a while before we got in. We were after some really hot items so when we got in we split up to get what we needed. I timed us. It took all of 7 minutes to get in the door, through the crowds, to the items and through the check out! And we got all of the items we went in for. I don't think we could do that again.

For me it was finding GottaDeal.com.....Going to Walmart with my list in my hands, then going to Target & Toys R Us.......I was done with shopping by 10:30 am; went home took a nap and went back out around 3pm and found more great deals. This year I'm going by myself...No hubby, kids no ONE except MEEEE!!!!! Woohoo
