brynnfromtheblock Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 We were there at 10pm last year and just chatted and brought some card trivia games, but others had footballs, monopoly games and all kinds of stuff.. What do you do?
ms_mckenna Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 Just usually talk to whoever I go with. I live in a smaller town so it is not as long a wait as some other cities. I know every year we seem to make friends with someoen in line .
elena_398 Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 I always go by myself. No one wants to stand in line at midnight with me. LOL. But Im a talker so I always talk with others. Never had a problem with boredom. We all talk about what we want, where we're going next, etc.
brynnfromtheblock Posted September 11, 2006 Author Posted September 11, 2006 People are pretty friendly!! I had this lady in front of me last year at BB(Keep in mind that I got there at 10PM so she was there before me) who was a little odd but we talked for a while, didn't get around to asking her what she was buying until about 3am at which point she told us she was there for the Xbox.... I was like ummmm BB doesn't have an Xbox would you like to see my ad and she said "no thanks" and got up and left... OK number 1, I wouldn't be sitting outside all night if I didn't know for sure the store had what I wanted and number 2) If I had already been there for 5 plus hours I would look at the ad to make sure it wasn't on there!! You meet all types!!
Bunniq Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 For the past few years I have done BF alone. Last year I met a lady that I stood in line with the previous year at a totally different store! That was funny we talked and talked like we were old friends. We both ended up at Macys because our original stores had long lines. We were one and two at Macys and we arrived there at 5ish. This year I plan to play games on my cellphone, read the GottaDeal forums and maybe post a bit about what is going on around me.
SuperMommy Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 Usually just talk to the people I'm with and others in line. Oh yeah, and freeze my off!
jadedmomof2 Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 Usually just talk to the people I'm with and others in line. Oh yeah, and freeze my off! You're in GA, I didn't think it was possible to freeze your off. This year, I'm bringing my son's GBA and a few games, plus my MP3 player.
ajburlingame Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 Visit with my sister. This is our once a year special holiday with each other.
blakes_mommy Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 Plan out the quickest way to the checkout and where I am going next!
Rebirth Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 Talk to my friends then eventually I don't want to them because it gets too cold and one friend just plays and acts all stupid.
Aaron Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 You're in GA, I didn't think it was possible to freeze your off. This year, I'm bringing my son's GBA and a few games, plus my MP3 player.Hey now! It can get "chilly" in GA.
Rebirth Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 Imagine if you were in Chicago, it's very cold. If you freeze your butt off in GA. What's 10-20 degrees to ya?
Aaron Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 Imagine if you were in Chicago, it's very cold. If you freeze your butt off in GA. What's 10-20 degrees to ya?I'm thinking it's like 50-60 here, not cold - but to a Georgian, that may be on the colder side - when I have to put on a jacket, I know it's getting colder.
cherry33778 Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 I live in Florida and anything under 70 degrees is cold. I guess being born and raised here makes your blood a bit thin.
Booterbunz Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 I've been going by myself for the last couple of years, so I just chit chat with others in line. OR, I space out! LOL
Gurnee Al Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Imagine if you were in Chicago, it's very cold. If you freeze your butt off in GA. What's 10-20 degrees to ya?Oooh, it was nasty in Chicago last BF. I just has to be warmer this year!!
Josher5513 Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 I'm usually too cold to do anything but sit and hibernate underneath my blankets.. Last year I was at CC by 8pm, and it got down to 13 degrees
shopping mom Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Talk to those around me and stay in touch with my DD by cell phone to see how she is doing.
tchubb Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 I stayed in touch with my brother who was waiting in line in western PA in the cold while I was enjoying my first BF in warm Florida. Shopping in the warm weather makes BF so much more enjoyable.
Phunnemee Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Try to stay awake( too catch the line breakers).
Daisimae Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Sometimes I talk to the people around me and re-study my sales circulars. Last year it was too cold to talk. I spent seven hrs outside in a chair with a hood and blanket over my head, to ward off the wind. I had my cell phone headset in one ear and an iPod ear bud in the other. I alternated between calling family and friends and listening to my iPod. When you are close to the door it is easier to do this. I was second in line at CC.
momof2many Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 yak with the people around me... This year, talk, read, and pray my toes dont freeze off and secretly plot the demise of anyone with great weather for BF!! lmao.
brynnfromtheblock Posted September 12, 2006 Author Posted September 12, 2006 secretly plot the demise of anyone with great weather for BF!! lmao.Hmm note to self, don't take pictures of me napping in my lawn chair on BF in 80 degree weather..... Hey, we need a smilie in a lawn chair on BF!!
Jasonlh1 Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 yak with the people around me... This year, talk, read, and pray my toes dont freeze off and secretly plot the demise of anyone with great weather for BF!! lmao.Always great weather on BF in South Florida:D .
gingersunshine Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 i am in line with the childrens. so it is kind of like a LONG car ride. "is it time yet. how much longer. i'm thirsty. i have to go to the bathroom". but my kids know when it's "showtime" and they know their roles as to what to get when we get in there.
Gporter34 Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 i am in line with the childrens. so it is kind of like a LONG car ride. I took the three oldest with me and my Mom last year for the first time. Unfortunately, we went to WalMart about 6pm on Thanksgiving evening to check out where everything may or may not be. Well, we ended up staying there because several people were saying they would be staying to wait on the laptop deal (which my Mom wanted so badly!). The kids, who are 13, 14, and 18, were great. They helped so much and to pass the time, they guy working in electronics kept putting movies on for us to watch. That and the fact that there were wonderful people behind us in line made everything fun.
jellybean051901 Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 watch other people. That usually makes for good entertainment
elena_398 Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 watch the idiots drive around in the parking lots a half hour before opening. LOL. LIke a close spot would be available. (yes its the little things that amuse me lol)
NeepNeep Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 Chat with others, play cards, listen to music, watch movies...
