Kanyon71 Posted October 31 Posted October 31 Since Thanksgiving is so late in the month this year when is everyone planning to decorate for Christmas? My wife said yesterday we have to decorate before Thanksgiving so that we have more time with our Christmas decorations. We have a new house this year so have to find everything and also figure out what we are going to put where. Nice thing is all the ceilings are high so we can do bigger trees (yes plural) though with how our family room is laid out not sure we will be able to put one in there. 1
Bopeep Posted October 31 Posted October 31 I have always waited until Thanksgiving weekend to decorate, but it's been a rough year and I need a little Christmas. I am going to do all my indoor decorations this weekend, except the trees. I will do the trees and the front porch Thanksgiving weekend. Unless I decide to go ahead and put the trees up early too - and I'm giving myself permission to do that if I wish :). 1 2
wittenlover Posted October 31 Posted October 31 Next half decent weather day I get within the next couple of weeks (once I'm past this weekend), I'll be putting up the lights on the house outside. I won't actually turn them on till Black Friday, but I want them up before I'm freezing my fingers off trying to do it later. Indoor stuff will go up Thanksgiving weekend as usual, along with the outdoor inflatable Rudolph and such. 1
berry1014 Posted October 31 Posted October 31 We decorate Thanksgiving weekend. We may string up the lights in the house roof line, shed and fence the weekend before but they will not get turned on until the rest of the house is decorated.
bluebear Posted October 31 Posted October 31 We usually do outside on black Friday, and the inside the rest of the weekend (and sometimes over the next week). But we have talked about maybe doing outside a little earlier, and then turning things on on Thanksgiving. My husband got a new giant (20 ft) inflatable he's super excited about. Me, not so much. I think I'll stick to the weekend after Thanksgiving for inside though. But I do hate it'll only be 3 weeks with the decorations up, because I have a LOT of decorations, and that's a lot of work for only 3 weeks. 1

I need it to last a little longer so maybe the week before if not two weeks before Thanksgiving I would like to have the inside decorated. 2

If I were still living by myself in my house, I would have put up my tree and all my decorations this weekend. You won't be sorry if you decide to go on and put your tree up this weekend. 2
stewarta4 Posted November 3 Posted November 3 I have always been an early decorator but this year I will be decorating even earlier. Planning on starting Monday or Tuesday after I get my fall decor put away. We have a very busy schedule this month and I want to try to enjoy it as long as possible. (Plus I always take my decor down fairly early compared to most...it's usually down and packed away by NYE...I like having everything clean and back in order to start off the new year!) 2
Hubbalance Posted November 5 Posted November 5 Usually the weekend after Thanksgiving but I will do it bit by bit this month. I will have a spot to put the Thanksgiving decor too though! 1
ytmomof4 Posted November 6 Posted November 6 I started decorating on the 1st. I have some of my outdoor lights up too. I love it. I prefer to decorate early so I can enjoy the season. the start of my lights 3

Coastiwife Posted November 7 Posted November 7 I will put up our trees this weekend. I did 3 trees last year but I think just 2 this year. 2
Bopeep Posted November 7 Posted November 7 Home Depot has an animated reindeer and I want it SO BAD. I stand in my living room and turn in a circle trying to figure out where in the world I could fit him (my house just isn't that big). I think I'd have to take out one of the recliners or the love seat. I live alone, though, so I don't need all those seats anyway! If company comes, they can sit on the floor. 4

Tell them to snuggle the deer. 2
Kanyon71 Posted December 9 Author Posted December 9 So let’s see some more Christmas decorations. We have almost nothing done at our house right now. Between moving, somewhat unpacking and our daughter’s massive play schedule (she has roles in 3 different plays) coupled with company in town for her opening night of A Christmas Carol it’s been so hectic. We are hoping to get some stuff up outside tonight. I had to replace the GFCI out front Saturday because we had no power. So I’m excited to see what all of you have done. 2
Bopeep Posted December 9 Posted December 9 I don't do much outside. Just the porch. So here, in order, are: hallway, office, Living Room, LR, LR, LR, LR, kitchen, kitchen, kitchen, bathroom, bathroom (pano), porch. There are greenery and lights in the TV stand and under the A Frame shelf, but for some reason the dog is terrified of them. It was a long process to figure out which lights in the living room were chasing him outside but I think we are finally in a place he can stay inside and I can turn on my Christmas lights . 3
Kanyon71 Posted December 10 Author Posted December 10 Very nice. So festive. Ya dogs can be weird about the strangest things

I had told myself if they still had them after Christmas when they are half off, I could have one. And just for grins, I checked to see if they still had any, figuring they were sold out. They have ONE left at my local store. And it’s already marked half off! I’m gonna have to move a chair out of the living room next year, and my dog is going to HATE him. But I bought the deer! 2 1
