Curious to see the different ways others save for their Black Friday shopping.I have been using shop kick, swag bucks, and also Walmart savings catcher.

Are there any other go to ways to help everyone save?

Wife uses WalMart Savings Catcher, outside of that we usually have the money in savings but we tend to use a points CC then once we are done we just pay that one off. Get some added bonuses out of that. :)

I  save cash and gift cards from rewards. I also set a personal amount separate for the stuff I buy myself and wrap up myself to suprise myself on CHRISTmas morning. Got to take care of you too  :lmao:

I have a Christmas club account. I use credit cards for points, rewards, and then pay them off immediately. If you're diligent with your spending it's a great way to get more bang for your buck!

I have a Christmas club account too. $30/paycheck goes in through direct deposit so I never even think about it. (Probably should up that though now that I have 2 kids!)

My credit card points go toward my student loans, so there's that little bit of savings too.

We use swag bucks, and also Walmart savings catcher, and I always ask for gift cards for my birthday and Mother's Day (but I always wind up spending them before Black Friday). ;)

I try to keep money in Paypal as well as some cash on hand, as I buy a lot of gift cards for hubby. Other than that, I have a set rule that no matter how good the deal is - if the money isn't in the bank to pay the credit card bill - I don't buy it.

I dont. DH gets a commission every month (not like a if you sell this you get it, its milk so he gets a big one each month), plus he gets a yearly bonus in Nov. and thats what I use.

I honestly don't know what I'm going to do this year. I used to do get the bulk of my money from gift cards from credit card rewards, surveys, and discount gc sites. My main survey site kicked me off for no reason and deleted my points, 2 others are giving me so much grief with delays and not posting points that I quit them, Chase raised the needed points to use through Amazon, and I'm getting a LOT of problems when trying to use the gift cards I bought from cardpool and cardcash. I don't think I will be buying them any longer. My bank doesn't offer a Christmas club. So far I'm just buying things here and there and setting money aside mentally. I think I will open an online account for next year.

My credit card gives me 2% back on all purchases and I can use what I earn directly towards payments on my CC balance.  I have been saving my rewards up all year so that I can use my CC to shop for Christmas and immediately pay it off.  Whatever my rewards balance is will be my shopping budget.

I have a Dependent Care Reimbursement account from work that takes pretax money out of my paycheck, rather than getting the money back throughout the year I wait until October to submit for reimbursement and I use that for BF/Christmas shopping!

Something to consider is the Amazon discounts that you can get right now if you sign up for various review sites. The items that you get approved for can help by saving you big bucks on certain items if you have amazon prime.

When we get the extra checks throughout the year (when there's 5 Fridays instead of 4), I write ahead for bills. When November comes, I don't have to pay any regular bills. Only medical bills and groceries usually. All the other bills will be paid up to December from the extra checks. That's how we save for Christmas. Plus buying things throughout the year on clearance etc.

I use Savings Catcher from Walmart, and I use Coke Reward Points to get gift cards to Amazon.  I also am a member of a few survey sites.  The ones that have Amazon gift cards I save for them, but most only give out magazines.

Hello. I'm new to the forum and I'm so excited that BF is almost here. I save for BF with gift cards. I already have Target and Best Buy and can get more but I need to wait for the ads to come out to see where I'll be going.

Like some of you, I also use shopkick and reward programs a like. I tried mystery shopping this year, which is new for me. In this month and most of next month, I'll be building my Gigwalk and Field Agents accounts to allow me to spend some extra bucks.

I don't really do much explicit saving, but Discover Card cashback bonus can be redeemed for gift cards to places like Kohls that I'll inevitably spend $100 at every year, so I order some ahead of time. It usually takes ~ 2 weeks for shipping so I can't really afford to wait until all the major ads get leaked to pick which gift cards I want to order.

Usually, I just budget several hundred dollars at the begining of the year. This year I have a few new ways-I have been saving up my walmart savings catcher monies, I also joined ibotta, and a couple other grocery rebate apps. I have been saving those funds as well. I also have points on my cc that allow me to get gift cards. Oh and e-bates too! Edited by mgreen

I save all of my loose change in buckets all year. That is usually around $200 and I don't miss it at all.

Around September I quit using $1 bills. Saving all of them. Which is around another $100 dollars.

My husband has a certain account that when he does work for them their payment is deposited in a seperate account for Black Friday.

It may be a bad thing but I have a credit card I use only on Black Friday/ holiday shopping and pay it off burning income tax. I suck at saving.

I suck at saving as well! LOL Every year I tell myself that I'm going to start a Christmas club account, I never do smh lol ...I'm back at school, so I've been taking college courses. My refund check is always at least 2 grand, so I'll be using that when it comes at the end of the month.

I use automatic deduction from pay checks. $20/week ($1040) + all the deals I get throughout the year is usually plenty. We don't buy for anyone but our kids and MIL.

I wish my bank had a Christmas club. Since they don't I just put a little bit from each paycheck away in an envelope. It's hard, but I'm happy come Black Friday to have the money.
