jeninpa Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 We want to fly from Williamsport PA to Orlando FL 10/13-10/21. Any good ways to save money on airfare? Also if anyone can recommend a hotel right by the airport in Orlando or maybe one that has shuttles to and from the airport? Thanks!
Scott Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 I kind of like SideStep It allows you to search a bunch of travel sites from one place.
labgeek Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 airtran runs a lot of specials to orlando - they they just had one (or are having one now maybe). Get on the email list for notifications. with those dates you should have plenty of time. Sorry it just expired... and wasn't good for that far off. Orlando was $59 to $149 each way... Book Your Sale Fares by Tuesday, January 17!Sale fares start at $39* one-way.All AirTran Airways destinations are on sale, most for travel through May 24, 2006 (travel to Florida and Grand Bahama Island valid through March 1, 2006). nick_jenni_jocelyn Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 i would start shopping soon. I know that southwest is only booking up until june, but keep checking back. you should be able to find a decent price in the next couple of months.
labgeek Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 Airfares are funny... too early and you get standard rates. Too late and you get the royally (deleted) rate, except through some last minute deals they run to fill planes. There's a specific window that the best rates with guaranteed seating occur.
kranky Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 Orlando is such a popular destination, you shouldn't have much trouble finding a good fare. Don't forget to check fares from different airports you can use - you might find a much better deal if you drive a bit to a different airport. For example, driving 2 hours from Pittsburgh to Cleveland can sometimes save a bundle on a flight. Did you go to orlandoinfo.com and request their free trip planning kit? Might be worth it.
madshooter Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 If you look to fly out of allentown you can get some good deals. You can also check to see if there are any flights to orlando/sanford airport. It is about 25 min. away from orlando airport but not as crazy. Most hotels will run shuttles to a lot of the parks and such. You could probably rent a car pretty cheap also. It's not that difficult to get around down here. I believe southwest will probably be the best bet for a cheap flight to orlando main airport. I usually fly them when I visit PA. They fly out of philly for a decent price, no stops.
jeninpa Posted January 25, 2006 Author Posted January 25, 2006 Thank you all for the great ideas! I will be checking them all out. Our main problem is we'd like to fly out locally and save the price of rental cars, gas and the headache of driving 3 hours! Jen
conj Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 I love Jet Blue - don't know if they're near you... and they have great specials - 59$ from Boston to Orlando.... Or 69$ from VT to orlando. Florida is the only place I go these days
sherrinfred Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 Buy five boxes of Polident and 1 air ticket, get 1 air ticket free up to 500.00. I saw a commercial for this, hope it helps: http://www.polident.com/
jeninpa Posted January 31, 2006 Author Posted January 31, 2006 Thanks but that would still require driving 4 hrs each way after I read the fine print. We really want to fly out of Williamsport,PA and we're going to Orlando,FL. Right now we're looking at $288 for each of us(6 people).
littlemama Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 www.kayak.com searches all airlines for great fares.
