I got on Friday evening:

3 yoga outfits

1 pr of the Avia shoes (wish I would've gotten 2!)

my daughter got a nabi

2 sets of the corelle dishes

3 sets of the scarves

1 men's hoodie

we both got some of the little girl gowns.

My hubby went back on Friday and got some Wrangler jeans, a few things from Lowe's and that is about it.

I had gotten my 2 grand babies the Elsa and Olaf doll weeks ago from Amazon for that same price.

I was out of town so I shopped online exclusively thus far. I got a Xbox one console system and TV from Dell.com, Xbox live 12 month card from eBay.com, Lego storage and shirt from Target.com, Just Dance 2015 for Xbox one and Disney Planes Dusty vehicle from Amazon.com. Pretty good deals.  Thanks for putting links to use for the various websites so Gottadeal.com gets credit. Sometimes I forget in pursuit of trying to hurry before kids see screen.

Bestbuy got most of my money this year. I ordered the iPad air 2 64gb, madden (ps4), shadow of mordor (ps4), several DVDs, 2 bluray players, a Nikon camera bundle, and after watching Amazon all morning for the 50" toshiba I got an email from bestbuy offering the 50" Panasonic. Grabbed that. I was starting to worry that it would be cancelled, but I got my shipping notification today.

I was also disappointed in Meijer! As another poster said people were grabbing items before the 6 am start time and we were there prior to 6 and several items they didn't even have to start with. Did manage to get two laptops for my daughters at walmart and it actually wasn't too bad except it was crowded and you could hardly move. Got a ton of movies and sweatshirts, pjs, etc. the normal. I managed to get some sheet sets. I did most of my shopping ahead of time online so that saved me a few extra stops. A very productive few days.

All online for 3rd straight year I am done with the crowds and dealing with dirtbags its just not fun anymore.

Amazon lightning a bunch of stuff. biggest catch was the same 99 dollar netbook Staples was offering. I got waitlisted and scored it typing on it now.

Went to Target at 8PM on Thanksgiving. The family went home and nothing else to do so we headed out then figuring the big rush was over. Target was busy but not overwhelming but busier than a normal Thursday night. Every checkout lane was open, things went pretty smooth.

We mainly took advantage of their 40% off all clothes, BOGO toys, bungee chair, stocking stuffers, and the Blu Ray Hunger Games. We used our Red Card, 5% Pharmacy Reward, mobile coupon, and Cartwheel to save about $130. On Friday we went to Harbor Freight and Jo-Ann Fabric. Those were by a busy mall that had horrible BF traffic in past years but this year was not bad, like a busy Saturday amount of traffic. The mall opened Thanksgiving and stayed open and I think that made the crowds less than usual on BF.

So black Friday was VERY good to me =)

I started out the week ordering the windows 8 tablet. I almost got the cheaper tablets but waited. The overall experience from an elite's perspective was underwhelming compared to last year. They seemed to blur the lines and did not definitively tell you when and where to be like last year. It left me in a guarded mood for t he rest of the week.

I started to buy items online to save time and kept getting a slow response from their servers on early Thursday. How little did I know just how fortunate I was to buy early! One positive was the free WIFI provided by Best Buy.

When the Thursday event started, they tried to limit tickets and acted like the National Socialists party when asking all too personal questions like family connections and "do you have your own money".

We decided to fight back since this attack definitely came from the new GM, not the ill-trained staff. After we threw page 16 and corporate policy back into their faces, they backed right off. Next came another shocker. Only 4 ticketed items!!!! I do not know if this was corporate wide, but even with last year's 3 event sale, they had plenty of ticketed items! This meant that if you did not take advantage of their online component then they were forcing you to make a mad dash for the items that you were assured would be door busters. Here is where it gets even more frustrating. Sales associates were running around telling customers that certain non-ticketed items were door busters and they were limited to one per customer. I yelled to the crowd that they(Best Buy) could not do that, and the associate quickly withdrew and then the customers bought what they wanted. It had seemed that the store thought that they could be throwing their own standard around, allegedly due to fairness.

The advantage of being in the store has always been to get what you want now, and only ticketed items had restrictions. Now unbelievably, the rules had changed and Best Buy was trying to pull a fast one and have it both ways.

Another black eye for Best Buy was the television sales. The $199 LED was in fact, an LED edge lit LCD TV. This borders on fraud in my book. My overall impression was that they took a huge cargo ship and traveled back in time to 2009 to collect all of the 720p and 60hz televisions to perpetuate the scam on 2014 customers.

Here was the final blow to the abdomen with the TV show and Bluray sale. Unlike Walmart, they purported to have a mix of over 150 items that I was absolutely stoked about. The truth was that they had understocked the midway kiosks and anything else was not clearly marked, as if they never intended to sell it in the first place. My distaste for buying much more than I had to was now confirmed, and I was out of there in a record setting 37 minutes.

Not happy about my Walmart experience.    I arrived at 4 for the Lego Tower.  I had them in my cart earlier that day, but I thought I was going to be at the store anyway, so I decided to get them in the store.  I saw a line forming around the Lego, so I stood there for 2 hours.  I got one - was going to buy two, but I didn't want to be greedy!  I got a few other items on my list and then went to the DVD/Video Game section - my last stop!  I stood for almost another hour just to be told that I couldn't take my cart into the Lawn & Garden area where they had the movies and games crammed in.  I hesitated, but left the cart right by the store employee thinking that it would be okay.  When I came back out, the tower was gone!  I told the employee that someone took the tower out of my cart, but she could care less.  I went to the other side of the store hoping against hope that there would be some left, but of course, they were all gone!

I drove to 3 other Walmarts, as well as refreshing the link on my phone, hoping to score another one.  They were all sold out and never did come back in stock online.  I wasted 2 hours of my day standing there just to leave without one when I did get one!

The other Walmart's that I went to had their movies in the Deli section that you were able to take your cart, so I don't know why they decided to cram them into a really small section.

They Lego Tower was really the only item I wanted at Walmart!  Frustrated this morning!

I hate to sound rude, but you never leave anything unattended at Walmart and this goes for ANY day of the year. Leaving the item unattended was YOUR fault, not the associates.

Our Walmart had the games and movies in the kids clothing section and they weren't allowing carts in either.

That sucks that someone swiped your Lego tower. People are so rude :/

Let's think about that from a shopper's perspective. Unattended carts with junk are everywhere. "Oh, look, a Lego tower and it is just sitting there!" Rudeness would enter into it only if the person saw her leave the cart there and they had in fact KNOWN the intention of the person leaving it where she did.

Grabbed that. I was starting to worry that it would be cancelled, but I got my shipping notification today. I usually split my spending between Amazon and bestbuy, but this year I bought only a couple of DVDs from Amazon. I wasn't very patient with how they did the lighting deals I suppose. Mom and I did go to Walmart for a couple of baby alive dolls and a frozen childrens table. I suppose we did that just to take our traditional day together.

I am interested in knowing if your email for the 50 inch was sent to elite members only.

I think we got basically everything on my list and a few added items. I did get quite a bit done online before we headed out. I had my son with me and he asked an employee a Kohls about the Bissel Vac and they could not find one I thought well I need to pick something else and went up to that section and found 3 of them :) I was happy! I would list the items but that is to much typing for this early

It just said doorbusters online now and had add to cart next to the doorbusters. It had everything on the front page including the maleficient and how to train your dragon 2 DVDs that stated in store only. I also noticed bpr had posted a picture in another thread of the Panasonic tv with an add to cart button lit in yellow so I don't think it was for elite members only.

Forgot to add. Went to Rite Aid after work Friday (I work at amazon.com so BF day was crazy) and snagged one of the Atari 2600 Flashback consoles. Was trying to find the Colecovision one but they, Walgreens and Dollar General were sold out. Was too tired to make the round of all of the other local stores.

Best Buy online:

32" Samsung Smart TV

SOA Season 6

Blu-Rays: Transformers 4, Divergent, Godzilla, Live, Die, Repeat: Edge of Tomorrow

Google Chromecast

Sandisk Extreme Plus 32GB micro SD card

Best Buy in store:

Maleficent Blu-Ray

Also got some good deals on e-liquid for my vaping habit.

I am a little PO'ed I forgot all about my local tattoo shops annual BF sale of BOGO on $100 gift certificates.

I think you missed the entire point of my post.  I neither asked nor did I think it was the associate's responsibility to babysit my cart!  I was frustrated with the fact that they crammed the movies into such a small area that shopper's were unable to take their carts.  And we weren't told that we couldn't take our carts with us until we were next to go into the Lawn & Garden area.  If I was told when I first got in line that I wouldn't be allowed to take my cart with me, I wouldn't have stood for an hour.  I would have left Walmart right then and went to my next store.

I found it odd that they chose that department since most put their movies in the produce section of all places!

Part 2.....

We collected our Televisions and proceeded to go home while the women in our group headed to the outlet malls, just like the old days. I was able to pass by the Walmart in our town, which is 16 miles from where I was. The parking lot was crammed full of cars for the first event, now 15 minutes into it. I decided to unload the first truck and then head out to the second event. I was able to get parked and make it into the produce dept where the movies were. I was able to score literally everything I was after, even the Walking dead seasons. I then squeezed through the jammed shopping carts to get close enough to catch one of  the sound bars which were being thrown around. Had I wanted a cheap Emerson 32 inch. i could have gotten that as well. The only thing lacking were printers which they had very few of. The next day, the women went to event 3 at Walmart while i shopped some more items online. I then accompanied my wife to Ace Hardware where we scored 2 air beds with a $10 additional off digital coupon.

My overall impression of the deals were mixed and Best Buy gets an unprecedented D- for their failures both online with server crashes and in store with employees acting as if they can make the rules up as they see fit. Walmart still does little to manage the crowds, although their 1 hour guarantee seems to help in places. Walmart gets a C+ for their well stocked store and online component.

Kim3498, I never could get that link to work. I am an Elite+ member, but I don't think that had anything to do with it. Best Buy (and others) have made similar mistakes on their web pages over the years. That is how I was able to buy some exclusive/doorbusters in the past. It is also why my signature says ' Don't get cancelled' because that was the result sometimes :P .

I think I just got lucky. I followed the link in the email on the tv and was able to order it. I figured it was a mistake but they have already sent a shipping confirmation. After I completed checkout I went back to see if it was still showing add to cart so I could post it here but it was back to showing in store only. I was also able to order Maleficent. I too am elite +.

The only thing I absolutely HAD to have was the LEGO creative tower at Wal-Mart.  I was in the store by about 4:15, to make sure I got there and was in line early.  Since no one was in line for them yet, I quickly ran over to electronics and picked up some Skylanders Trap Team things that were still on pegs (there was a whole big plastic-wrapped bin of them, but I wasn't chancing opening that), then went back to the LEGOs.  Again, no one there, so I parked myself in the center of the pallet.  Our store only had 30, and they had 10 towers of Duplo blocks.  Another woman came up behind me, and was with others, and she decided to run and see what else she could get.  She came back with a waffle maker and some bedding that came off of pallets that had already been opened by other customers.  So by the time 5:30 rolled around, there were probably 15-20 people standing near this pallet, and then a W-M employee comes by and asks the lady behind me where she got her stuff from.  She told him the truth about how she got it, and he plucked it out of her cart and told her, "you're not supposed to get these until 6," and walked off with them.  So I got the LEGOs (which I'd have been totally pissed if I'd been rushed at 6, and didn't get them, since I had been standing there for so long!!), and then was blocked in by carts...finally broke free of the carts, and some moron has like a 4 or 5 year old in the fray, and she's getting upset because I'm not stopping to get by her--in the meantime, I have a cart coming right at me from the side, and I'm trying not to get hit myself.  So the lady called me a "jerk" for not stopping, but I'm sorry, if you're stupid enough to not keep your child out of harm's way in that mess, YOU'RE the jerk--and I called her another word and walked away, LOL...made it to the toy aisle and got the Snow Glow Elsa that I'd been hoping to get, but wasn't thinking I could.  But the funniest part about that was I couldn't get into the aisle, so I asked this man and woman standing alongside the dolls, if one of them would grab a doll for me.  The woman says, "Nope, not me, I can't.  It hasn't been unwrapped yet!," and I reminded her it was after 6 now, and the guy just reached up and got one and handed it to me.  I walk about 2 feet forward, and I hear another person ask the same thing of the same people, and all I can say is "Good luck!!"  I also picked up the Flutterbye fairy toy, as DD has been asking for that for two or three years, so for $16, she's finally getting one...

I went to several other stores and cherry picked some doorbusters, but Wal-Mart was my major score...

Posted

And I got to JCP at 6:20 and got a coupon, but they had no snow globes.  They usually have them for a LONG time after the store opens, so I'm thinking our store didn't have them at all...I've gotten one every year, except the year they didn't have them, and this year... :(

I ordered Beats online on Staples.com. They only had one blue color and it was the light blue ones that my friend's daughter wanted, so I snatched them up. Well, I received them yesterday and they were the dark blue color. Called and they are out of all of the colors and could not even backorder them. After explaining that this was their fault (I had screen shots of the item number with the picture of the light blue ones) and I could not get them at the price I bought them for now, she offered to give me another half off! So I got $170 Beats for $40 (even tho I still don't think they're worth that), now I hope the color doesn't matter that much, but I bet it will!

I went to Walmart- got movies, scarves, earrings, and Rockin Elmo for my nephew. Then I went to Target and got a fuzzy blanket for my ds. Next we went to Tanger Outlet- on their website they had this game and I won 3 $10 gift certificates which made shopping a little easier there. While there I went to the Nike store and bought my DS a shirt. Went to Old Navy and got my DD a bunch of clothes (used my $30 in gift certificates) and got ME the most comfortable pair of sweatpants ever. :). Next we went to Kohls and I got a cute pair of boots.

Then what turned out to be the BEST place of the night we went to Michael's. I bought a wreath, ribbons, lights and paper. Then I came home and decorated the wreath. The best stuff I bought all night. :)

Our Walmart put the movies and games back by the dairy section. I stood in line for over an hour because they only let so many people in at a time. By the time I got in most of what I wanted was gone. :(

My best Black Friday deal was actually two days before black friday.  I was in the mall at the best buy store in the mall and the manager told me they were going to sell their Dr Dre Beats Solo 2's for $59.99 on Black Friday.  I reiterated what he told me to make sure what I heard wasnt made up in my mind............and sure enough it wasn't.  Then to top it off, he offered them to me right then and there to make sure he would make a sell.  So needless to say I bought two pair of Dr Dre Beats Solo 2 for $59.99 a piece. :runaway:
