signs of the times...makes you wonder how much longer their doors will remain open...

Hah, what made you say that? lol

Just an inside scoop, my husband was a manager for KB Toys and just left their to take a job with Black and Decker. And let me tell you, they aren't doing so hot!! They have been in bankruptcy for along time!! They kept telling them that they were coming out of it but they told them that for at least a year. Not sure how it's been going since August though (that's when he changed jobs).

This used to be my favorite place to shop, until they closed most of our stores down in Arkansas. We decided to go to my Aunt's house(TX) the week of Thanksgiving so, I found two stores in proximity to her house online and we went there on Nov 21 and 22. The first store was an outlet. The store employees were awesome. They had b1g1 half price on alot of items, so I spent around $200 and had three huge bags full of merchandise. The next day

we went to the 2nd store. It was a regular store on an outlet mall. I spotted a Bratz Karoake that I knew would be a BF blitz item, but it would only be $10cheaper. I put it on hold and went to find my husband in the mall. We both came back to the store and looked at the item. The sales associates plugged another in and let us see it. I proceeded to take my kids out of the store, so my husband could secretly purchase it. He found me fifteen minutes later and said the manager came out and told the woman that I he couldn't buy it.

They were on the top shelf of the store and she whispered to the associate that she shouldn't have taken it off the top shelf. My guess is they only had a few for that store and forgot to pull them off the shelves. But how can they take something that you have looked at and selected to purchase? Since they are in bankruptcy, I would think they need the extra $10 that we were willing to spend. My husband was mad, b/c she didn't have the deciency to tell him herself. She mad the teenager tell him. He didn't argue. He just left.

We called corporate the minute we got back to AR. Well, to make a long story short. They called last night to say they located one and are shipping it free at the Black Friday price. So, I am making a personal commitment to report bad customer service. I hope everyone else follows suit!

Nothing for BF at Kbtoys? I have to disagree with that. The bogo Fisher Price toys were great for me. I bought stuff for my daughter (1yo) my son (5yo) and my friend's son (2 yo) I spent only $60 for over $168 worth of toys.... that seemed like a great deal to me, and I got $20 in store gift cards to use later too...... There wasn't much for 11 and 12 year old kids but the savings for the younger ones made up for it IMHO.

KB was always good for me to finish up the kids on my shopping list for a deal. Fortunately, I started shopping in advance this year so the kids on my list are officially done, so I have no reason to go to KB... From what I have seen so far from them, they've had deals similar to any other holiday season. (in-store that is)

I bought the Thomas the train set ( the great Race set) the day after BF there at the BF sale price since it was their normal price anyways. I priced the same set at TRU a few days later and it was 14 dollars more than KB. That was the only time I ever remember a KB regular price being cheaper than TRU.

We went to KB outlet on BF morning after the Walmart fiasco. 2 sisters made out like bandits - the manager said he'd match all the regular KB ad items as long as he had them - B1G1 Fisher Price!!! :woot2:

And then he called the mall store (about half hour away) and had them check on a couple other things the girls wanted. So we went to the mall and although it was awfully hot and a long line, they ended up with everything they wanted.

Lucky them - almost made up for WM mess.

They pulled this same thing in Fort Smith about 2 years ago when that bouncing Tigger came out. They had a bunch stacked on a top shelf and the associates were told not to get them down until after the doorbuster price went out at eleven. Well the crowd got pissed and one of the ladies helped herself to a ladder in the stock room and proceded to get all the tiggers down and pass them out. The manager came and took them all away and said those were for after 11. After the police got involved, I believe that everyone got to to buy the tigger for the doorbuster price!

I am kinda glad to see KB gone, I don't miss them at all!
