Oh my goodness!!! I'm glad I read this post! We don't have any batteries to charge, but we have a lot of batteries to buy...I always forget those and we end up spending like $20 on batteries at the gas station :giggle: Definitely going on my layaway receipt so I don't forget :runaway:

These come pre-charged. I'm sure some of them could have sat on the shelf for a while, but it should have some kind of charge right out of the box. (You can play it while it's on the charger too :))

So I don't need to go open the GBA and charge it? I know DS will want to play with it asap so I want it to be ready. Thanks for the help!!

Well inless you are planning on going somewhere, I would just wait at this point they can watch them in the car with car adapters and my daughters dvd player doesn't take but about an hour to fully charge.

Yeah, you should be good if you already have it wrapped or something (or even if not). If they don't have a charge left when they're opened, just plug them in and they can play with it charging. I have an SP and DS right now and the battery lives on them are pretty good, IMO, for casual playing.

I just had to run to the store to get batteries for one of the gifts Santa is giving my son at the party Sunday. Can't believe I was able to get the thing out of that really hard plastic stuff without cutting it and got it back in too. Damn I'm good lmao

Am I the only one that finds this strange? I would've been pissed at my parents if they gave me a bunch of opened presents on xmas... I can charge batteries perfectly well on my own, it's expected when you get something with batteries that it might need to be charged.

Not so much when you are 5 and just want to play the game. I think my ds might get it at 7, but a year or more ago he would have been in tears if I didn't have batteries for the toys Santa brought.

And I opened my dd's computer to make sure it at least would boot up as BB only has a 14 day return policy...and I packaged it back as best as I could so it looks brand spanking new.

nope, more sad when he children open up something first and it is not working..broke..not just no batteries....you can open something with out shredding the box...who cares if it was opened...they dont know and they don't really care as long as what they have is working.

Wow...should we really prepare our kids for such instant gratification. Tell them to plug the stupid things in and while they are charging spend time with the family...help with dinner....sit on the porch with you grandfather/uncle/family friend.

Do you want them to immediatley disapear and not see them till the movies are over?

Yeah, I also find it a little weird that it seems a lot of people do this... A lot of toys and stuff need batteries, and they don't come with them (even if they do, they're usually included inside the box but not actually in the toy/electronic.

I would just get the toys, and then pick up one of the battery things at radio shack or somewhere (last year they had some kind of huge battery thing that included various types of batteries).

With electronics these days (video game handhelds, ipods, etc) you can use them while they are charging, so I think the only thing that would need to be charged in advanced was a portable phone or something, or they could wait it out after it's opened :)

My children spend from 11 am til 3pm with family they do not take any thing with them...so my girls do spend time with family....over 50 family members gathered together.

this was not posted to see how many can post about patiences...let the kid wait......I did not know they could still TRY IT OUT...wihile it was charging....yes it if it was little toy to just throw batteries in it.. waits til it is open...but not the higher price items....

I put batteries in all of DS's toys before I wrapped them. It saves time. Plus one of his toys (Hummer) needs an 8 hour charge. I'd rather have my 3 year old happy on Christmas morning rather than disappointed that he'll have to wait all day to play with his new toy.

I bought that $5 pack of 24 AA batteries at Walmart on BF. Just need to get C batteries now and maybe some AAA ones. I don't think any toys/electronics take Ds. I should have paid more attention before wrapping them!
