Dust N Bones
Do you think any lessons were learned this year and do you think anything will be different next year? Walmart seemed to get the most bad press in the news because of the fights and stampedes. I'm not surprised becasue it doesn't seem that many walmarts (if any at all) offered any vouchers or had any type of crowd control at all. I'm just wondering what it will take for them to wake up. I hope all the stores do something to streamline the system so someone doesn't get severly hurt or even killed. We hear about inexplicable violence in the news everyday and I would not at all be surprised to see a headline that read something like: "Man Shoots And Kills Two People Over A $400 Laptop At Walmart." BF used to be fun and but now it's getting dangerous.
coolsteel
Not at all, Walmart stampedes on BF are nothing new, if it was really ever going to change in their case it would have been last year after the lady got trampled over a dvd player, which was taken from her hands off the ground. It would take something as extreme as a murder or crippling to get the PR machine spinning and real action to be taken
grapico
nope, its the same every year and they don't change, *could* they learn something and change it, sure, will they? no, I think its funny for some of the employees to see the people go crazy. 2 days ago here a guy got held at gunpoint for his xbox shortly after buying it, followed him from the store. Gporter34
I think our WM learned a lesson from last year. They were much more organized. I'm not sure what more they could do. They had everything under control and even had the first 15 people for the laptops to line up. After that, when someone asked about it they let them know they were already sold out and not to waste their time. I think they do need even more security. They had a couple of cops there but, with the size and attitude of the crowd that rushed in the doors of our 24 hour WM at 4:45, two cops were not nearly enough to handle it. Thepeople who had been waiting patiently all night were the friendliest, nicest, most courteous group I've ever seen in a situation like that. It was the people who rushed in at the last minute who were out of control.

kfinto65
Some Wal-marts are organized and others aren't? Why doesn't corporate wake up and make standards for every store?
saturnboy01
No. Its like that EVERY year only it gets worse in some stores. They don't care about the customers they are just there to get the GREEN!!!
alimfp
No. Its like that EVERY year only it gets worse in some stores. They don't care about the customers they are just there to get the GREEN!!! Of course they are out for the money, just like we as consumers are out for the savings. But stores only have so much legal ground (read: very little) as to what they can do. They lay one finger on a person (even a person in the wrong) and there runs the person to their lawyer screaming, "LAWSUIT!". So I don't blame them, they can't do much of anything. A lot of stores called in the police this year, I hope more do it next year.

alimfp
I dont care who touches me as long as I get what I was coming for! That wasn't the point of my reply. Obviously quite a few think like you do, it doesn't matter who touches you, on and on and on.. as long as you get that item. Again, as I said above, even the managers at these stores can't do much other than call the cops to have on hand.
dextux
My Wal-Mart that I went to was very organized and I didn't have any troubles getting the laptop and I didn't hear about a single fight. The Wal-Mart was open all night so you could line up in line at whatever time you want for the big items. They then handed out vouchers at 5AM and then you had to go ring up the voucher slip in the register. After that, you had to show the people your receipt and then you were allowed to take the laptop with you. It was very organized and I was very impressed with everything at my Wal-Mart. They also had a store map where everything was going to be that morning. There was little confusion. There was a line of about 100 people for the laptop around 4:45AM. I was the first person in line.
