grapico Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 very curious if ANY circuit city had more than there "minimum 15" as I think that is a bit decieving and gets peoples hopes up.
phatferd Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 mine had 35, but they started passing out more vouchers, I heard they had 45.
grapico Posted November 25, 2005 Author Posted November 25, 2005 mine had 35, but they started passing out more vouchers, I heard they had 45.wow, lucky man...
pnlcooper Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 Mine had 20, but when I got here at midnight there was already 40 people in line for them.
c2mxmrd5957 Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 join the club there was 15 at my store and I was 30th in line. that math means I did not get one!
abruemmer1 Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 15 available at the store I went to. I was 14th!!!!!!!
Artrageous Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 My wife said they had more then 30. She was first in line with her sister and got 2 vouchers. Some behind her took Laptop vouchers and sold them for 50 bucks. Mark
sarcasticchit Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 The people at my CC sold their vouchers for $100 ! I should have had one but CC is the WORST for crowd control
Ziptar Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 Mine had 19 of the $199 Toshiba's (I got voucher #19) They had 28 of the $399 Toshiba's with the "Extra Antivirus software". Seems like CC figured out "If we jab them and extra $100 they'll pay because they will have been waiting in loine for hours and won't walk away empty handed."
van929 Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 See my post "Black Friday Bait & Switch." Mine claimed to have 35 available, with 15 of those being pre-installed with software. After doing a survey (asking for a raise of hands) of all the people being held up in line in the store by those of us screwed over, there was no evidence that 20 basic laptops were available. I was 8th in line and walked out with nothing. How does that work???
zgamer Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 I was about 60th in line and they were out...there were still about 5 of 17 left of the HP desktops for $549
Ninasnewborns Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 Mine had 15 regular and then 16 of the upgraded, Which were misleading, They said 99 more, but ended up being 159 more because they charged me for "installation" UGH but still worth it! We had some JERK ( about 25 yrs old) show up at 4:00 and squeeze into the front of the line and claim he had been there all night! Those of us who had REALLY been there since 1:40 am were POED! The CC empolyees did not give him a voucher because we were raising hell. BUT when we were waiting in the line to pay, he came BACK with his MOMMY! ROFL They were complaining to the manager. I can hear it now, "mommy they were picking on me!" I dont know if they gave in to him or not but I sincerely hope not. The rest of the people I encountered were very nice. We took short breaks in the warm car and then came back to line up. Necessary since it was 20 degrees out.
89MustangGX Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 43 at mine. 20 standard and 23 "upgraded."
grapico Posted November 26, 2005 Author Posted November 26, 2005 what really also bugs me, is that at about 2:30 am, a circuit city employee that was stocking came OUTSIDE and assured everybody in line not to worry that there were FAR more than 15 laptops, somewhere around 45 or 50, so everybody stopped being so antsy and stayed, instead of trying to go to another store (3 walmarts, 2 staples, 2 office depots, etc where they could have 95% have recieved a laptop still from what i hear.) People were showing up at 5am at walmart here and still getting laptops. When the employees came out at 4:15 and started handing out the vouchers, and said there were only 15, I thought there was going to be a riot, the 15th person called the police on somebody breaking in line and got their voucher (they were there at 9:00pmish) and everybody said the person broke, but circuit city said there was nothing they could do, the manager got cussed out many many times and I think most of the people got the # and was planning on complaining.
tommac Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 Only 15 here in tallahassee, fl. Too bad I wasn't one of those 15.
Cru Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 They had 20 of them in Utica, Michigan. Not sure how many of them came with the bs software package, but they were offering people the option. I was 3rd in line and got mine :) , but boy it took forever for them to sign me up for AOL and ring up my stuff ( 3 1/2 hours...... ). I wasn't really impressed with CC and will probably go somewhere else next year.
grapico Posted November 26, 2005 Author Posted November 26, 2005 yeah i'll be going somewhere else next year no matter the deal, i might not always get my stuff, I'm dissapointed but not mad, that can't be controlled depending on what time other people get there, but customer service and organization CAN, which I was very mad and will effect me not to go there anymore. CC is crap for it in general compared to other retailers based on experience, best buy is very good and well organized I think for how large of crowds they get, office depot and staples are also always very helpful as well as compusa which gets pretty large crowds sometimes. This all comes down to training and preparedness coming down not just from store directors but from management higher up getting the people trained right, obviously from all this stuff posted something circuit city is not doing on a NATIONAL level.
Reisch Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 I got #11 of 15 here in south Oklahoma City. I was quite happy with the staff at this CC.
