  1. price is nice if the rebate comes in.. Be aware these are USB 1.1 Cables. Buy.com stripped that fact out of the specs... PORT AUTHORITY2 RETRACTABLE CABLE KIT Product # 28268
  2. I have submitted my Fraud Paper Work to AOL for the extra account last week. Thus far I have been round and round with AOL and the Staff at the CC Store. No one wants to make the difference between the $14.95 AND $23.90 plans right. They basically point the finger at each other. I write letters next I guess.
  3. Well, I just got off the phone with, Fraud. They have to mail me an affidavit to sign stating that the other account is bogus. Once they get that they will refund me the money. She would not change my plan from $23.90 to $14.95, she said that she could not do it. She did say thet there was an investigation going on into the whole Black Friday / Circuit City / AOL Rebate deal.. She said that there was no reason the system would crash because of the plan selection. She said she had talked to others with the same problem. All she would say was that AOL was "investigating abuse of the Black Friday Promotion by certain Circuit City Stores" She said that if I wanted to get the difference between the two plans I would have to go speak with the manager of the store i signed up at and have them compensate me... WHAT UTTER BS!!!!! Circuit City and AOL can both KISS MY A**!!!!!!! This will be the last time I purchase anything from either organization. I am going to see the CC manager and if he won't do anything about it, I will work my way up the chain. Would like to hear from anyone else in a similar boat... Thanks..
  4. I thought it was finally over when I finally walked out of CC Black Friday with the $199 Toshiba Laptop after AO'Hell Rebate and waiting 5 hours to check out after actually getting in the store.... BUT NOOOOO!!!!! Like everyone else I was not allowed to sign up for the BYOB Plan for $14.95 and got stuck with the $23.90 regular plan. CC said "it made their system crash" OK, so I call AOL the next day, tell them my story... They say OK and tell me they have changed my Plan... I also give them a diffrent Debit card to bill than the one I gave CC. All Fine and good right??? WRONG!!!! I just happen to notice today that BOTH Debit Cards are getting billed $23.90 a month, so I go back and look and they were BOTH dinged for $23.90 each in December too.. I have spent my whole day trying to get this cleaned up. I started with online suppirt they were no help and refered me to the 800#. I get a nice guy that figures out what is going on. Not only did the downgrade not go through but, Circuit City created two different accounts for me and they have BOTH been getting billed. He tells me he can't fix it because if he cancels one of the accounts one of the accounts I will automatically get charged the remainder of the contract. He also can't credit me back the $47.80 I was billed for the other account. he tells me only AOL's Fraud department can fix it. He gave me the number for AOL Fraud,... so I call AOL Fraud... as I type this I have been holding for 1 hour and 10 minutes.

    Gamecube

I Got the Mario Party 7 Bundle for $99 at CC on BF for my 5 and 8 YO daughters, they are asking santa for a Nintendo this year . They have recently gotten into playing Nintendo at their after school. They are using a Nintendo 64 and go on and on about playing Mario Party 3, Mario Kart, and Spyro. I asked around and my friends that are into consoles said the GC was the best one for Little'r kids, It has a large selection of non-violent titles and it's under rated for it's performance. iIgot the impression most of them don't take it too seriously. So based on that, I figured it was the best way to go for them. Amazon has a couple of bundles: Game Cube Mario Party 7 Bundle $99 It's Actually from Gamestop but, the same bundle doesn't come up on their website. NGC Super Smash Bros. Melee Bundle $99.88 On that note... Anyone Know where I can get "Spyro: Enter the Dragon" and "Mario Kart: Double Dash" from for the least $$$$. Those are the only eqivalents to the N64 games they play I can find for the GC. Right now Walmart is leading the pack. Mario Kart Double Dash $19.99 Spyro: Enter the Dragon $24.99 Anyone know where to get them Cheaper??
  7. Got The Hynix Stick I bought on ebay Today.. Installed it and booted it up. BIOS Recognized it and set the Video RAM to 128MB automatically. Makes a huge difference screens just pop instantly now. Overall speed and boost is very noticeable, much quicker than before. I ran CPUID and it doesn't pull up anything in the Memory Tab but 1024MB, other than that its blank. I downloaded Sisoft Sandra and it shows 1 Channel, Sandra Also shows that I have 1GB installed and that no Ram is shared with the Video so, Don't know is that's right either. The DDR2 SODIMM I got is Identical to the stock one. Looks exactly like it, has the same part number and the production date of the two are only two weeks apart according to the SPD tab in CPUID. So I dunno if it's Dual Channeling or not, I need to try some other utilities maybe. The extra 512MB is very noticeable though.
  8. The Wife is Loving it, speed increase is huge over her 3 year old Compaq. She keep saying "Everything opens so fast.." I have another 512MB stick coming, be here this week. Wait'll she gets 1GB and Dual Channel.. She ain't seen nothing yet. I put Spy Sweeper and AVG Free on it Saturday Night.. Cost me an additional $30. :) I totally feel for all you people that got stuck paying $165 for AV, AS, and Labor... That was a Total Scam.. I guess CC figured they could get away with it, and no one would turn it down after waiting hours and hours... I'd have been pissed but probably would have taken it. Still it's a crappy way to do business, sort of like how they forced everyone at the CC I was at to signup for the $24 AOL Plan just because they made more money on it. (I already called AOL and switch to the $14.95 Plan.)
  9. If it's like my Dell it should turn on automatically when the second SODIMM is installed. If not turn it on in the BIOS. If the BIOS won't let you enable it then it's a no go. If it boots in Dual channel mode you should be good to go. If you really want to hammer on it to be sure then download memtest86 If it survives that you are set. I got an email from the ebay seller I bought the matching Hynix stick from. He mailed it today via priority mail. Should have it Wendsday or Thursday. I'll post my results when i get it.
  10. It'll "work" but as 1.5GB of RAM at least it should. Dual Channel won't work, at least not according to the Toshiba L25-S1193 Spec Sheet
  11. They are so going to come after you.
  12. Hahahahaahahah IDIOTS!!! Paying that much because they Gotta be first to have one.... To Bad they are so frought with problems they will likely get recalled...
  13. More info on the RAM from Here: I have a question about Cleaning the Trubrite Screens.. My wife already has a dozen finger prints on hers... What should we use to clean it without scratching it?? We have bunches of "Read Right® Kleen and Dry™ CRT Screen Cleaning Pads" at work that work fine on my Dell Lattiude D810 Laptop. They consist of a Wet Pad and a Dry Pad. Think they would be OK on the TruBrite?? They also make Read Right® Kleen and Dry™ Notebook Computer Screen Kleen" The Notebook ones have ~1/3 More Alchohol and ~1/3 Less water than the CRT pads according to the MSDS's for each. One vendors has In the description on their website for both kinds of pads. So does that apply to the TruBrite?? All it Says in the manual is Any ideas or Input anyone??

  15. No Conformation Email about my plan change yet and I still can't get onto "My Account".. This Thread has me thinking though.
  16. Worth a try, I saw something on one of the flyers at CC that said "Must be activated in store" but it didn't say "at time of purchase". I don't see why they coulkd do a return and re-ring it and have him sign up for AOL.
  17. No email yet, I can't see if they cahnged my account because the page won't load. Everyytime I click "My Account" I get "Cannot find server or DNS Error Internet Explorer "

    Talking In Line

The line at CC was like a Cocktail party.... The reason for this is aptly explaind in a quote from Douglas Adam's Hitchhikers guide to The Galaxy.
  20. Just called AOL and told them my story. They downgraded me to the $14.95 BYOB Plan. Said I'll be getting a conformation email to my AOL email account. Haven't seen it yet. Using Webmail, there is NO WAY I am installing AOL!!
  21. Some new light on this subject posted in another thread So it would seem there is some sort of conspiracy amongst CC amangement at the store I was at at least to get more money out of AOL by Lying to and ripping off customers.
  22. I was both shocked and glad to see only one Hynix 512MB stick in mine. Shocked because I was missing out on Dual Channel Goodness. Glad because that meant 1GB goodness would be easy and cheap. Newegg has G.SKILL 512MB 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 533 (PC2 4200) Notebook Memory for $36.83 + 3.83 Shipping Don't See Why that wouldn't work... although the specs say "Quality Control : Comprehensive rigorously tested in single at Notebook real environment" I just bought that exact same Hynix Ram on ebay for $39.99 "Buy it Now" with Free Shipping, Guy has one left.. Numbers as listed in his auction are HYNIX 512MB 2Rx16 PC2-4200-444-12 HYMP564S64P6-C4 AA 0535N KOREA 04 ebay auction. Searching ebay I saw that the Hynix sticks were used in Sony Vaio FS770, Apple Power Book G4, and Hp Media Center Laptop ZD8000. So Hynix does allot of OEM it seems.
  23. Probably not early enough.. I got to CC at 10PM and was 19th in line the next people in line got there at 11PM. We got the last of the Toshiba $199 vouchers, I was handed 19 of 19. I think next year you'll see people skipping Thanks giving dinner and lining up at 9AM Thanks Giving Day.

    Hell at CC

I got there at 10PM was 19th in line. Pretty cool crowd, No trouble really. Had a few people try to cut the front of the line but, it turns out there were CC employees in street clothes starting around 1AM, they walked the line talked to people. Turns out they were scoping the line to see who was there and when 3:30 rolled around all of a sudden they were in CC Shirts and started giving people the bums rush to the back of the line. There were also a few weirdos caseing the line like they were checking everyone out. The people that got there after 1AM were bummed because by then there were 125 people in line. There was 350 or something by the time the store opened. The people that showed at 4AM or later were visually stunned. THE CC Employees did a really good job on making sure new arrivals got to the back of the line and handing out vouchers. When they handed out the vouchers for the Toshiba laptop for $199, (Not the $299 w/ Antivirus. there were 28 of those.) The CC Guy handed me Voucher 19 of 19!!! PHEW!!! The Nightmare begins after the store opened. Store opened at 5AM I was in Laptop Line at 5:04 7th in line. The whole AOL Process was a Nightmare, First the system Crashed. so we had to wait. Then the system was up and I got setup with AOL, but something got screwed up. After they sent me to the "Done with AOL, Waiting for the Laptop Line." They handed out Blank pieces of paper and we had to fill out our AOL Account Info and give CCard info again so they could "Call it in" and get some verification and barcode from AOL. But they did that with everyone in the "Waiting to get signed up for AOL" line and all of a sudden there were people from the back of the "Waiting to get signed up for AOL" line getting called up first. infront of use in the "Done with AOL, Waiting for the Laptop Line." who had been waiting for ever. People were pissed. Before a riot broke out they put the line back in order and started calling people in turn. I had to wait MORE because they didn't know what CCard I gave them, DUH! first four numbers. Then at some point the other 6 people who had been infront of me, and, had walked off with their laptptops 25-20 minutes previously had to come back and butt in front of me and go back the "Done with AOL, Waiting for the Laptop Line." to get some other bullshit fixed. So I kept getting bumped. If I hadn't apperently already signed up for AOL twice at that point, I would have told them to friggen forget it, and just bill me the $450 full boat on the laptop. Mean While the weirdos scoping the outside hung around the Cashier where you turned in your vouchers like vultures. One lady was walking the line saying "If anyone wants to give up the Voucher for the $199 Laptop I'll take it." On her third pass everyone finally told her to STFU!. I Finally got my laptop in hand and was out of the store at 8:16am EST... Three Hours and Nine minutes to pay for a laptop that I had a voucher for. As I was leaving some lady walked up to the Cashier and pointed at all the laptops behind and said "Is that the $199 Laptop? Could you give me two of those?" the people in line just started laughing and told here she was wayy too late. I feel bad for the CC employees they did a pretty good job and were taking a beat down from all the angry people having to wait because of the SAOL Screwups. When everyone signed up for AOL they were put on the $23.90 Plan. We were told that if they tried to put us on the $14.95 plan it would crash the system, they told we would have to call AOL and have our service downgraded to the $14.95 Plan. Everyone in line was suspicious, that maybe they figured out they were losing money on the $14.95 Plan. Now after all that I gotta go round and round with AOL more than likely to get the $14.95 I asked for in the first place.
  25. Oh, the employees in the store I was in knew about alright, as evidenced by the Xerox copies of the AOL plans they were handing out to everyone. They just "Couldn't" or "Wouldn't" sign anyone up for it. I'l call tomorrow, bet it's a huge pain the ass... If it is I'll change the Debit card used to bill me for AOhelL to the card that's tied to an account that never has any money in it. Store opened at 5AM I was in Laptop Line at 5:04 7th in line, voucher in hand. The whole AOL Process was a Nightmare, First the system Crashed. so we had to wait. Then the system was up and I got setup with AOL, but something got screwed up. After they sent me to the "Done with AOL, Waiting for the Laptop Line."
