I'm probably going to snag a laptop from Walmart on friday, but I'm not exactly sure how the 24-hour supercenters work. Do they line people outside and let them in at a certain time, or do it some other way?

I got three different answers from the three different people I asked at the 24 Hour Walmart here.

Greeter said they would line everyone up outside and let them loose at 5AM in a free for all.

Customer service said I was welcome to come in and mill around the store until 5am.

Electronics department chick told me they would begin lining people up as they came in would have a line for each Item. If they only had 20 of something then they would only have 20 people in that line.

I was going to go for the Laptop but, I am going to CC instead. Decided it's the best BF Laptop Deal and considering that the Local Walmart Customers here are rough trade even on a good day. I don't wanna risk a free for all.

Nope, they are open all night, as usual, they just pull the stuff out on pallets wrapped (usually in black plastic) and an associate opens them at start time. Then the wild times begin!

I have seen two 24 Walmarts do this. People stage and I don’t even think god can help you if something goes wrong. Last year I saw two fistfights, and a few car accidents in the parking lot. It more or less seems to be a controlled riot.

When you hear the roar of the store resemble something like the wave at a football stadium it is 5am and you had better be ready. :lolrun:

My WM said that anybody wanting the laptop or other electronic big items would be told to have a seat and they will be given tickets. Very very limited on the amount of laptops and tv/dvd combos and blitz items

In years past we have gone in and loaded our buggies...Last year there was a new manager from a big city and the things were on a pallet but with shrink wrap around them...I just cut it with my keys and got that dang Dora doll! I also complained to the manager. I called the other day and was told we are going back to the old way and we are welcome to load up our buggies. So my daughter and I will get there at 11:30.
