servrich Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Thought I'd share. Just got confirmation that WM bf deals will start at 6pm and 8pm this year. Earlier and earlier every year!
starbeck96 Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 This is not good. We usually have our Thanksgiving dinner at 4:30-5:00 and don't finish until about 6:00. We will have to do a little replanning if we need something from the 6:00 sale. I wish they would go back to the 5:00 a.m. sales!!!
riven3d Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 no wonder workers are talking about striking this is horrible
jstluvem Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 no wonder workers are talking about striking this is horribleI agree !
bpr Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 Thought I'd share. Just got confirmation that WM bf deals will start at 6pm and 8pm this year. Earlier and earlier every year!Do you have a source? Or are you an employee? I thought we had already heard 10 pm for doorbusters, but I could be wrong.
bigjimslade Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 It is getting to the point where Thanksgiving will be about sales and not the true meaning of the holiday. This has been done with July 4th, Memorial Day, Labor Day. Thanks for posting!!
servrich Posted November 6, 2012 Author Posted November 6, 2012 I have a source and he's a pretty solid one too. Seems WM had success last year so they're opening earlier. they'll be doing the first round at 6pm then the second at 8pm. Was upset at first since it'll force us to do Thanksgiving dinner earlier, but at least we can get WM out of the way and focus on the other stores later that night and morning.
CBC Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 What coast are you on? East Coast sales are 8 and 10pm
theboyzmom Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 I won't support this...Thanksgiving is about family time I really miss the early morning sales
jakesmommy403 Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 Our Walmart said 10 pm again this year. ??
servrich Posted November 6, 2012 Author Posted November 6, 2012 I'm in Mountain time and was told 6 and 8 Mountain time. Would think it's the same in all time zones. 8 and 10 are pretty early too. I'll double check tho and post if it changes. Also hoping to find out some of the items on the list.
shopping4my3son Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 It's really terrible. People who work retail get limited time off for holiday's as it is.
nikkilugi Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 It is 8 pm and 10 pm here in KC area - per employee email
tyreejames Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 I am not oblivious to corporate greed but 6pm?? If this turns out to be true than Wal-Mart will be crossed off my list this year. I just don't see this happening...
jakesmommy403 Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 My BF partner and I won't start any earlier than 10, so we're curious to see which things go at the 8 pm time. We might wait and head to WM for 10:30. Last year we stopped back at 12:30 (after the 10 and 12 sales) and it was empty in there. We picked up quite a few things that were on the 10:00 sale that people had abandoned all over the store.
Pepper_Mint_Tea Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 wow, this is HORRIBLE. I dont think Ill do it. If this is indeed correct WM is killing the BF spirit
vonnyb Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 6pm or even 8pm is just to darn early. Walmart will see me between 10pm and 12 AM depending on the sale.
faceofboe Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 No way I'm rushing through thanksgiving to make a 6pm sale time.
maguszxz Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 I will take this with a grain of salt. I will wait till Walmart posts the times on the ad. If this does happen, I will be sad but I will roll with it like always. Just make sure I have dinner done before Thanksgiving day. I am a fighter and roll with the punches, BOOM!!
tsjbenny Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 I will wait to see also. I just can't see Wal-Mart starting that early.
berry1014 Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 If they open that early then I May miss out some things as I will NOT go shopping that early since we will still have company at our house.
pogiporkchop Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 Such an early opening might be of benefit to me - not for shopping but for work as I have three WMs that I service.
servrich Posted November 6, 2012 Author Posted November 6, 2012 I just asked again and they're sticking to the 6pm and 8pm start times. I'll share any updates I get tho. 8pm and 10pm sound a bit more reasonable so I hope my source is wrong, but they're in charge of the bf event at their store so they should know.
ytmomof4 Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 I just talked to my local Walmart they told me sale times are gonna be 8pm 10pm and 5am
ccmrlend Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 My mom works for Walmart and she also said they were just told the sales are at 8pm. 10pm, and 5am.
hpowers Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 I can make family time any time if I want to. I don't just stick to it on Holidays. I don't have a problem with them having the doorbusters as early as they want to. If there is something I want to buy, I'll go, if not, I'll wait. I do feel sorry for the people that have to work during those time and their family acts like it's the only time they would have gotten to see them. Think about it....
wire5150 Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Those times are incorrect...................8 & 10
catholicbride11 Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 I don't mind because Thanksgiving isn't a big all day deal in my home, but man. The earlier it is the more random people come out instead of the hardcore Black Friday crowd and I hate that. I guess I better get ready for every teenager, toddler and baby within a 50 mile radius to be in the store with their inconsiderate and Black Friday uneducated parents. Blah =/
