magst24 Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 I heard that Wal-Mart is going to start some of their sales at 8pm on Thanksgiving. Then have another sale at midnight. Heard they are trying to compete with Target.
bigjimslade Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Where did you hear this? Thanks for posting!
magst24 Posted November 1, 2011 Author Posted November 1, 2011 Where did you hear this? Thanks for posting! From an employee, there was a meeting today.
bigjimslade Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Nice.....thanks for sharing. Post more intel as you get it.
amickeyfan Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 I would not put it past them to try and beat out Target and have their opening sale at 8pm.. then have their door busters at midnight since Target will be opening at midnight...
angelbabymommy Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Oh brother! I hope this is NOT true, but the ways things are looking, it just might be so
ydkjman Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 The 8pm thing is not true, but they will be starting the sale at 10 pm and then having another one at 4 am.
mommy2twingles Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 I hate these staggered sales. Never fails that there is something at each one that I need. But I am not staying there for that long and missing out on ever other sale.
ehstrojette Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 I am going with the 10pm doorbusters then 4 am sale. I can't see them doing it at 8pm. Looks like I will be shopping till like 2 then going home and going to bed.
johnhk364 Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Black Friday 2015, starting Monday at 12 noon. :)
starbeck96 Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Black Friday 2015, starting Monday at 12 noon. :) LOL. That seems like what it is coming to..
tinkrbel Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Black Friday 2015, starting Monday at 12 noon. :)Perfect way to excuse myself from Thanksgiving Sorry folks I gotta go shopping or no Xmas gifts this year!
angelbabymommy Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 10pm I may be able to deal with, but not 8. Please, Walmart, don't start @ 8 pm lol
Mandy4Matt Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 I'm in a small town, I get up and get to Wal Mart at 4:00 am. If this is going to be the case, I don't know that I'm going to worry about it. I may handle all my shopping online. I guess it just depends on the deals. I certainly won't deal with madness at 8:00 or 10:00 pm on Thanksgiving night!
3 boys Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 10pm I may be able to deal with, but not 8. Please, Walmart, don't start @ 8 pm lolI'm with you!
123abc Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 If the sale starts at 10 pm, as opposed to midnight, like last year, I will have to be there at 8 pm, to be out by 10:15! This may work, if WM opens earlier. Then I can head over to Macys and Target & JCP.
Klownicle Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Out of hand if you ask me. Next you will see big box retailers staying open on thanksgiving.
bigjimslade Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Target is trying it out in Denver and if it works out they will be open Thanksgiving nation wide! Out of hand if you ask me. Next you will see big box retailers staying open on thanksgiving.
mamat2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 I wish they would at least post an "official" starting times for the stores so I can start planning

theboyzmom Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 I'm just glad I don't work retail anymore...those poor employees
KrisinTn Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 I'm just glad I don't work retail anymore...those poor employees I know... I hated the holidays when I worked retail because it always seemed like you never got to "enjoy" them like others, but it's so much worse now than when I worked, one reason I have always been glad ds didn't work retail.
santaclaus Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 I visit this one site, which shall remain nameless and they are saying 10PM. BUT This is a copy and paste of the last sentence in the post: This is from my Divisional so it might vary depending on what part of the country you're in. A person might ought to check their local store between now and then.
childofsolitude Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 Hey guys. I'm a Walmart employee. The sale this year starts at 10 pm. We were told this at our meeting on Saturday.
Guest vita555 Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 Hey guys. I'm a Walmart employee. The sale this year starts at 10 pm. We were told this at our meeting on Saturday. There's no way they would have told u guys already Sent from my PG06100 using GottaDeal
2chia Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 Perfect way to excuse myself from Thanksgiving Sorry folks I gotta go shopping or no Xmas gifts this year!Ok... You crack me up.. Maybe is a good thing my family are from a different country that Thanksgiving is just like any other holiday.. My family would understand perfectly that I will skip the meal and just hit the store running.
santaclaus Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 There's no way they would have told u guys already Sent from my PG06100 using GottaDealYes they did too. I visit a Walmart associates site and it was all over the board. My cousin also works for Walmart and she told me the same thing just minutes ago. I would still check the time with my local Walmart just to make sure, mainly because of the last sentence in that copy and paste I posted.

johnhk364 Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 I think the hours getting earlier and earlier is going to backfire on these big box stores pretty soon. The thought is that the first guy to open wins... but that may not be true. If a person is waiting in line for target to open at midnight then they are not going to be shopping at walmart at 10pm. And of course the opposite can be said that if you are shopping walmart then you can wait in line at target. I think they will figure out in the near future that having there sale times 3-4 hours apart will help them both. Either way customers are going to shop at there stores for the sales and everything will be gone by noon anyways so why keep trying to out do the other guy. You dont see best buy opening earlier each year to try to be out walmart/sams/target electronics sales.
