Do you think you spend to much on your kids for Christmas????

We definately do. My parents were semi poor(got most of what I wanted but we never had a new car...etc). My husbands dad left when he was 2 and mom died when he was 11 so his grandparents raised him. They were extremely poor. So, we both want our children to have EVERYTHING.

I was just discussing this with my DH last night. We have 4 kids. A 17 DD,15DS, 8DS, and 7DS. I was finishing my lists last night and the total for each one came to around $600. Both of our family trees are really branchy. we buy for a lot of people, so this place has saved my bank account. I am able to see if I should wait for some gifts or buy now!!!!

hehehe we haven't decided yet! As this is our first Christmas with the lil one it'll be interesting to see what we end up doing. She'll be 6 months old on January 3 so we still have no idea what really to get her...got a leapfrog pad for her though!!! Ages 6-36 months...

I try desperately not to spend alot on them. I don't have the money. But what do you do when everything out there that they want costs a minimum of $50? So I try to get them 1 thing that they would "just die if they couldn't have it" and the rest I look for sales or they get something else.

1 year they were spoiled though and it was the year where I won all of their presents. Can't complain about that one since I didn't spend a dime that year on Christmas. Won gifts for nieces, nephews, my kids and hubby. That was a great year.

I know I do. But that is why I spend BF shopping for the best deals. If I did not research weeks prior to BF for the best price, my boys would not get near what they do. But they are worth it. I am just glad I can do what I do for them. I try to set a limit but I alway go over. But when my money is gone, that is it. I will not charge any of my Christmas. I just work extra hard prior to BF.

All the characters that sing or dance are good for that age!! Some of the toys we have gotten Lexi are the Hokey Pokey Elmo, Sing and Boogie Blue, Fit-n-Fun Care Bear, Share a Story Care Bear, Bouncing Tigger, etc. I think the big ones this year are the Tumble Tigger, Shout Elmo, and Share a Story Care Bear. And if she hasn't started crawling yet I think they have elmos that crawl (good influence). Also the Baby Einstein videos and DVDs are great. They are very entertaining for children as well as being educational!

I try to make sure I have some of the more expensive things, but really try to make the money stretch. I find good bargins on some of the smaller things and the kids think it's just the greatest! They are to spoiled with all the other family we have......there are no other kids except mine!!!!!!!!UGH!!!!!

At this point just about anything is "too much" for my 11 yo who wants everything and cares for nothing. One year (last I think) she threw a fit on Christmas morning because she did not get what she wanted. This year I am not accepting lists and am downplaying expectations, no desire for a repeat of last years fiasco. She's a good kid, just no concept of the fact that budget only stretches so far.

Every year I SAY I am going to stick to a budget, but that usually goes right out the window. I just love to see them open all the presents Christmas morning. One year, they had so much they got "sick" of opening presents, we had to take a break and start again after lunch. Boy, if I could have been as lucky as a kid.

I have added up everything thus far, almost $1000 per kid, I have 2, one is 6 and the other is 4. I *think* I may be done though, pretty non-comittal on that statement, huh??

I think I'm getting better at staying at budget for my kids. I try to stay at around $300 for each. My problem is shopping on BF and then finding "unexpected" deals leading up to Christmas. I do get a lot for my money though.

Some of our family thinks we spend too much on our kids for Christmas. We have four kids, 11,8,3,and4. We spend $500 on each of them, but we have a Christmas club through our bank so it isn't $2000 coming out of our pocket right at christmas. I love seeing how happy our kids are at Christmas morning because it make me just as happy.
