wldfire68 Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 SO! I go to Walmart to by my daughter Despicable Me... Earlier today I was online looking for the best price. It was the same at Best Buy and Walmart. 19.98 for the double disk. Walmart is closer so I went there. I get to the store and it is 24.98. So I use my phone and get on WM.com and pull up the price. I take my disk to the cashier and said, that is listed at 19.98. She calls over the mananger, he takes the disk goes back to the electronics department, (TAKES FOREVER!!!) comes back and says, we dont show it listed in the flyer. I show the guy my phone and he says oh, that is walmart.com! We do not compete with the website. I said so what, you are not going to adjust the price? He says no, we cant do that. I said, REALLY??? You are not going to match your own site?? He says no we do not price match the website. I said well then you can forget it! IF YOU dont want my money I will just go buy it at Target or Best Buy! I was so pissed off!!! What the crap walmart!?!?!?! They will price match anyone else BUT their own website! BAD Business move!!! Second thing that happened tonight was KFC! Go to order the 3 piece meal, drumstickS & thigh... Apparently you get 2 thighs and 1 drumstick!!! My 13 y/o says to the guy at KFC "THEN WHY IS THERE AN "S" ON THE END OF DRUMSTICK AND NONE ON THE END OF THIGH?!?!?!?! He didnt have an answer to that one! LOL WOW really??? What a crappy night! THIS IS WHY I SHOP ONLINE!!!! ARG!!!!
AndreaInNC Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Target won't match their website prices either. I have never been able to figure that one out either!
ObiRich Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 You can rant all you want, but the policy is clearly stated on the Walmart site: "Price differences between Walmart.com and Walmart stores Due to differences in distribution, regional competition and other factors, online prices do not always match store prices, and prices may also vary between stores. Prices shown on Walmart.com are online prices only. Walmart stores do not honor or match prices from Walmart.com, other online sellers or advertisements outside of a store's local trade territory." Lots of B&M stores don't honor online prices from their own company's website.
fluffkin79 Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 I can sympathize- I found that one out the hard way too.
allshoppedout Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Not so much the pricematching issue, as I can sympathize with the particular situation. 1- the Despicable Me movie is too much $$ no "great" coupon for it, and price is high for the bonus editions.....and walmart.com is sold out of it online so even if I (she) was aware of that policy she couldn't get it cheap way and 2- my KFC are jerks, they will never substitute anything EVER, but if they are out of something they want to substitute something for that item, and they don't even tell me. It has happened at least 5 times, I ask for bucket of extra crispy and then place order, I have pulled up and looked, and found just original... and I went back angry and they said, oh sorry, didn't think it'd matter Hello, What???? And they do that substitution like OP mentioned, but if I asked for 2 THIGHS, it'd be SORRY Miss, NO SUBSTITUTIONS...I never go there anymore, I don't even like KFC, my kids/relatives do... That's all I got :)
wldfire68 Posted December 15, 2010 Author Posted December 15, 2010 I get the whole not matcing other online places like Amazon... But NOT their own website! Thats just bad business! The thing I find pathetic is I went to walmart simply because it was closer and I was in that area, NOT that it was any cheaper than anyone else. I was shocked that it was MORE than everyone else including their own website this is why I double checked their website! Thought it was just miss priced. IF I had the Best Buy or the Target ad up on my phone they WOULD have priced matched it. They were ALL the same price!!! This wasn't some "online exclusive" deal... just a silly dvd! Walmart USED to be the cheapest place to buy new release DVD's! Not so much anymore I guess! :-/
whereswaldo Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 At least they would price match your phone ad. Our walmart says that you have to have the competitor ad in hand. Not a cell phone picture.
wldfire68 Posted December 15, 2010 Author Posted December 15, 2010 Well Walmart would not match their website so I walked... I didnt even bother to metion it was 19.99 at Target and Best Buy. I just ordered it from Amazon, got free super saver shipping, a $5 movie credit, no tax and its delivered to my door! We saw the movie before so 1 more week is not going to kill us to wait! :)
Kim3498 Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Walmart is getting hard to deal with on pricematching B&M stores in my area, too. The store use to keep a copy of all the local ads under all registers. Now they will not pricematch unless you bring the actual ad with you. I ran into that about a month ago. Sad thing is Walmart, Bestbuy, and Target are practically right on top of each other here....Looks like they would want to pricematch other stores to keep all the business they could. I just politely said "That's ok, I'll just go to Bestbuy". I don't mind to take my money elsewhere.
tinkrbel Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 While it isn't pleasant I don't know of any store that matches their own or other websites. I too need to have the FULL ad in order for any store to price match and have had to go back to my car to get missing pages that have nothing to do with item being price matched or the front/back of ad that shows dates because they slipped out of bundle. I look at it as a small price for the convenience of price matching or getting a better deal.
Kandy Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Target does not price match their site either. In store a portable tv w/ dvd player $149.99 online $88.99 (nearest Target is an hour away. I was there and my mom said just get it, personally I would have ordered online but she didnt want to (not my money that was a big differance imo).
ISU ME Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 I've gotten best buy to price match to their website before. Has anyone else done that, or did I just get lucky with the cashier I had not knowing the policy?
mysschevous Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 I think you got lucky. I have had problems with that before too.
allshoppedout Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 I've gotten best buy to price match to their website before. Has anyone else done that, or did I just get lucky with the cashier I had not knowing the policy? I think you got lucky, but I KNOW Best Buy did it for me, several years ago, maybe about 5, on a tv. :)
kathi29 Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 I got Best Buy to price match their website just a couple weeks ago. I forget what movie I went in there looking for, but it rang up like $30. I told they guy there were way overpriced and I would just go to Target. He pulled up Target and Best Buy's websites and gave me the bestbuy.com price, which was the cheapest.
Kim3498 Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 I've gotten best buy to price match to their website before. Has anyone else done that, or did I just get lucky with the cashier I had not knowing the policy? They've done the same for me. The BB in my area is so easy to deal with. Don't know why I even bother with trying to pricematch them at Walmart..... Yep, I guess I do. Because I was already there. Oh well....now I know I have to take the full ad with me if I want to pricematch. I must admit that pricematching at Walmart on BF was a breeze. Of course, I made sure to have all my ads in order. I think it just also depends on the cashier, and what kinda mood they are in that day.
Jen8112 Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 No store that I know of price matches their own website. Well I went to Burger King last night and got me and DH 2 Italian chicken sandwiches with extra sauce...I got 2 Italian chicken sandwiches with almost no sauce and orange American cheese instead of mozzarella! Of course I didn't notice this until I got home and was not going all the way back. They were gross! I have had it with incompetent people, I am done with fast food!
sewblessed7 Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 I have no clue about the price matching, but I do know that if I don't check my order at our local McDonald's EVERY TIME, they will screw something up. Every time.
laffnatu Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 I have no clue about the price matching, but I do know that if I don't check my order at our local McDonald's EVERY TIME, they will screw something up. Every time. I have to do the same with my McDonald's. I ordered a filet of fish sandwich. They gave me the cheap $1 spicy chicken sandwich with tarter sauce on it. I took a bite and it was so disgusting. Now I only order their $1 tea and maybe fries if they are fresh. BTW OP ---- I loved your son's comment to KFC. LOL
AndreaInNC Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 I've gotten best buy to price match to their website before. Has anyone else done that, or did I just get lucky with the cashier I had not knowing the policy?I've had BB pm their website for me. 2 Christmases ago on 2 Ipods.
Dutchess Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 Its less expensive for online ordering at times because its cheaper for the companies. If its online at Walmart, its at a warehouse. Its not been shipped to a store again, not stocked again, not handled again. If its in a store.. its been shipped and had gone through all of those processes at a warehouse and again at the store. Maintaining a store front is much more expensive than straight from the warehouse. Thats why small business does good with no "store front" to maintain and pay for. Thats why the "online forums" have better deals that brick and mortar stores. I get it.. its not fun at times, But I get it.
nirvana4all Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 Wonder if you can find it at walmart.com, buy it with free ship to store, then go to the back and pick it up with your smartphone if they wont match???? Fun to try at least :)
tinkrbel Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 site to store takes days to ship the item its not like in store pickup at best buy
amyers12345 Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 site to store takes days to ship the item its not like in store pickup at best buy Actually, a couple of weeks ago, Walmart unvelied same day site to store shipping for those items that are carried both places. This is only in select cities right now, but will be everywhere soon. You are supposed to be able to pick up your order in less than an hour.
peppysfireball Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 No reason to rant, it's something most people know. THey are a different entity. THey don't match .com of any kind. Many stores don't. It's listed prominently on their site. They only match brick and mortar stores and only in their own vicinity. I can't take a target or best buy ad to mine because there isn't one near. I shipped a comforter to save 4 dollars. They have overhead in a store that they don't in a warehouse.
jeninpa Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 Advanced Auto price matches their web site! Found this out when I looked up a part, found it for $30 so I went there to buy it & it was $55! I told them about the price on the site, they said I needed to print that out & bring it in & they honor it.....then they looked it up for me & did it anyway! lol
peppysfireball Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 Some places do, like Sears, it all depends on it they are affiliated or not. Some are separate businesses, although owned by same corporation. Just ask if they price match their own website. If they don't , they don't, no big deal.
suzy3333 Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 Best Buy WILL match their own online website buy nobody else's. And if you purchase something at bestbuy.com and then the price drops, they will refund you 100% of the difference. I noticed that this morning when I was looking at their policies. HTH
