JohnnyCNote Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 I was wondering if I went to a store a day or so before BF, found an item I know will be on sale, then hid it behind other items, or even put it in a different part of the store, then returned on BF and retrieved it. Of course, there's always a risk a clerk could find it and return it to its spot, but has anyone ever tried this, especially in cases where a store may not do price adjustments on items purchased before BF?
tinkrbel Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 Never tried it. I guess if you hid it well enough and clerks didn't find re-arranging stuff you would be fine. Just make sure you don't put it next to a high traffic area where it may be uncovered before you get back for it.
smurfgirl Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 I have done this with dvd's I want to price match at walmart. Some were still in there hiding place and others were not. As for the door busters, those are not usually out on the floor soon enough to do this.
zim05 Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 It may not work for some things, for example DVDs/Blu-Rays at Walmart since Walmart puts special stickers on their movies that verify that they are part of the BF deal. Also, I believe, many BF deals have a common or special scan code and if you hid something that was scanned in with the BF group, the sku may not register the correct price. The cashier may or may not question it. Personally I don't agree with stashing just because it feels a bit like cheating...but again that is just my opinion.
JohnnyCNote Posted November 18, 2010 Author Posted November 18, 2010 At this point it's more speculation than anything . . .
freesia39 Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 If Ross was around, he'd mention that inside a dryer is a place most store clerks don't check when doing their "rounds"

JohnnyCNote Posted November 18, 2010 Author Posted November 18, 2010 Good idea! I was thinking of borrowing a step and putting the item on the top of a shelf out of sight . . .

I think it is cheating and not fair to anyone else.
Rose0426 Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 Depends on store. At Toys R Us, salesstaff pushes everything back now so night crew can stock easier and would see something out of place and put it back.
JohnnyCNote Posted November 18, 2010 Author Posted November 18, 2010 At this point, since I've found that I can purchase an item before BF and then return for a price adjustment, that's what I'm going to do . . .
lelee24 Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 Last year my son and I were wondering around TRU before Black Friday when we came across a stray Zhu Zhu Pet that everyone was wanting. I thought my friend might be interested in it so we stashed it in the oven of a play kitchen set that was on a shelf. Unfortunately we forgot all about it until a couple weeks later...I checked and the little guy was still there! So I bought him for the Angel Tree..didn't want him to not have a home on Christmas!
