aew82 Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 Does anyone know if this is at all Walmarts or only certain ones? Im actually not interested in any electronics from here but want to grab some pj's, slippers and a power wheels so it would be great if I could go in at midnight and then have the rest of black friday to check out other places :)
eileenrich Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 Thanks for the posting! This :eyepoppinputs a whole new spin on my plans!! Whoot Whoot!
bigjimslade Posted November 15, 2010 Author Posted November 15, 2010 This was in the press release. I would ask your local WM. * Except as prohibited by local law. magst24 Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 Why is the WII listed at midnight and not the Xbox? I need the Xbox!!!

I wonder if they will put any of these deals online at midnight? I know the pj's and slippers probably won't be online but maybe the power wheels will.
Kim3498 Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 On their ad it says that pages 1-8 start at 5am, and pages 9-23 the sale starts at 12:01. If that is true, even the video games start at 12:01.
CrayZMama80 Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 I just spoke to a friend of mine that's in management at the wm here by me. Normally our store isn't open 24 hours. They have special hours this year at ours, they will open on Thanksgiving and remain open until midnight Friday night. I needed to find out cuz I was wondering if I was going to have to drive to another one that was open 24 hours. So I agree with BigJim, check with your local WM.
otonoh Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 I noticed a disclamer on walmarts ad, Remember in some states, Walmart can't sell items below their cost. I know last year there were many angry shoppers at my walmart during their preblack friday sales
queenofshopping Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 So you can go in as of midnight, but those first few pages of doorbusters don't start unti 5am, yes? This has me worried that, if I don't want to hang around for 5 hours, all the DVDs will be gone by the time I arrive hoping to get the Blu Ray player
Cinnamonhuskies Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 are video games on at midnight or 5am?
queenofshopping Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 are video games on at midnight or 5am? Everything from page 9A on (except the last page) starts @ midnight, so midnight on the video games (but not the systems)
firstladyberg Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 I understand that you can place items in your cart that ARE NOT the special 5am deals (which they did last year at my WM) and then people lined up at the check out counters. Everyone was still NOT allowed to check out until 5:00 am. Does this mean this year you can make your purchases before 5:00am if you are NOT purchasing items on the 5-11 am special door buster? I would love to get out of there before 5:00am with some of the jeans and video games WM has on sale. I hate waiting around till 5:00am just to check out for such simple items.
jrbriscoe Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 Walmart just made a way for it to get even more crazy. I usually line up around 11:30 but now it looks like I have to be there even earlier for the video games, dvds, and other items that are not electronic related.
TotallyFrosted Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 Everything from page 9A on (except the last page) starts @ midnight, so midnight on the video games (but not the systems) This would be perfect!
jrbriscoe Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 So how do they plan on giving out the high priority items like televisions and computers when everyone will be in the store ad midnight? Will they pass out the tickets before midnight?
rjncmj Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 Umm...the way I take all this is that there will be a big line up outside again, the doors will open at midnight, then there will be a scramble for the video games, clothes, etc. And there will be fighting and chaos to get in a line for the 5am electronics. I don't see much improvement here. Heads up for those thinking of going in later and hoping to still grab some items, my experience from several years of WM BF shopping is that pj's, jeans, and video games sell out very very quickly. Bikes will probably be gone fairly quickly too. The movies usually last a few hours.

As stated in the press release the "Open House" begins at 12:01am BF. You can purchase the 12:01 sale items at that time. NO NEED TO WAIT TIL 5AM TO BUY THE NON-DOORBUSTERS :) YAY YAY YAY. All the 5am items will be placed strategically with line markers and employees nearby. EVERY store whether 24 hour or non-24 hour will open at midnight*** ***As BigJim mentioned and the press release mentioned, you need to check with your local store. Some stores have WEIRD laws regarding store opening times. Just call a manager at your store and ask. Every manager knows when they're opening by now, so if they say they don't know, they're full of it.
UtahHotDeals Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 There will be NUMBERED helium balloons corresponding to a specific 5am item. There will be associates handing out wristbands or tickets at that line. As much as people think it's going to be another mad house, I think this will work out better, now hear me out doubters :) Last year they had a similar plan but they lumped everything into the 5am sale, so you had EVERYONE lined up for EVERYTHING at 5am. This year, you can buy the non-doorbusters items at midnight. My theory is some people don't come for the big ticket items, they like the small items like jeans and games, so most of those people will get those items and leave. Then you'll have the people remaining for the big ticket items. I think it will end up much better than in the past.

I hope to get in and out fast this year. We'll see how it all works out.
UtahHotDeals Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 Yeah, I don't know why they have such a hard time clarifying simple things like this. It should go very smooth, people that wanna stay for the doorbusters are likely going to be hanging around and driving us loss prevention guys crazy for five hours until 5am, lol, just kidding, and the people that just want the midnight items will be long gone :)

I am a doubter I do see how separating the non doorbuster crowd from the doorbuster crowd will help. BUT...last year people could trickle in all night and load their cart and wait. This year every non doorbuster person will have to be there at midnight or chance not getting their items. Granted the isles won't be littered with people waiting hours to check out. But there will still be a big rush at midnight when doors open. Those wanting non door busters and those trying to find a line to wait in for the doorbusters.
UtahHotDeals Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 Unless you are at a 24-hour store that doesn't close on Turkey Day you can have your Thanksgiving at WM, lol :) I see your point on the lines...
BFAddict716 Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 "In-Store Savings on Toys, Home and Apparel Starting at Midnight* on Friday, Nov 26 while supplies last: * Nintendo Wii – $199 with $50 Walmart Gift Card **" Am I blind?? I can not find this in the ad??
rsthayer Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 well I sure hope our local walmart knows the "rules" !! One of my friends went last year to get one of the laptops , she arrived at walmart around 11pm and got in line or what they thought was the line. she said somewhere around 2am an employee told them that they had to watch for a balloon to be released and then get to that balloon and line up to get their ticket for the laptop. no one knew where the balloon would be so when it was released everyone of course was running, shoving, pushing and some of the people who had been there for hours never got a ticket. they even had one fight and a man was arrestted ! My opinion that was just asking for a riot !! I am going to try to get a couple of the laptops this year but not sure if I can score them or not . probably depends on how they handle the tickets and lines ! hoping it is different than last year !! hoping I get my gottadeal shirt on time and thinking maybe I should wear a helmet and football pads !!
rlthomsen Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 I'm going to WM at 3am and taking my chances with the line. It's going to be 0deg in Duluth that night and even though WM is open all night so we wait inside, I still think getting there at 3am will be OK. Hopefully it will be obvious which line is for the LG 42" TV.
Missangelyka Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 I called about 6 WMs and most of them had no idea about the 12am and 5am differences. I spoke to managers too....one even told me they won't open until 5am and its a 24hr store!

Wonder if they are trying to beat Target and the Ad was at the printers before they found out what Target had.
