Ordering Online on Black Friday

For those that order from Amazon - do they have special sales Black Friday? Toys and electronics? Is there an easy way to know what they have? Is there a set time those sales start? If I'm going to order from them I will have to make a special trip, as my parent's place in BFE will not cut it for online shopping. Thanks!

Last year, the only thing I attempted to order online on BF was the $98 GPS from Target. It was for myself, so there was really no worry if I didn't get it for a couple weeks.

However, I will say there was some confusion with that particular GPS as they had the same exact one (without the case) for the same price, BUT that one was backordered until late Dec. or something. I had to cancel my order and go back and find the right one and place a new order.

Amazon was my lifesaver last year with the children's gifts. Love them. Always got everything I ordered in a timely manner.

Personally, I would never buy the majority of my BF items online. Like someone else said, the technology is questionable, and for me and my sister, the thrill of the physical hunt is the best!

Actually most of my Amazon shopping last year wasn't on BF. From what I can recall, they had a week of BF deals....and then continued with daily lightning deals in an array of categories, toys, electronic, everything. Usually a new set of sale items would post at midnight, but it would be 1 item for a few hours, and then a different the next few, and so on. So you have to keep checking back. But definitely don't buy up until that week of BF. I made that mistake and 3 or 4 of the bigger toys I got for my kids were significantly lower during a lightening deal in Dec. So if you do shop Amazon, wait until BF or later...much better deals.

I believe I frequented a thread last year dedicated to Amazons toy deals. I'm pretty sure it was from another forum on this site.

I ordered several things successfully online last year. We were at Disney World and didn't want to stop the fun to Christmas shop plus we had the kids with us. I got a great deal for my daughter on a dsi from Amazon with free shipping. I never found a better deal once my son decided he too wanted one. it arrived as promised with no glitches.

If you watch this site closely, they are great about letting you know when different sales will begin, etc.

I also did alot of on line shopping while camping out last year.I was in line at walmart for one of the xbox deals and on amazon at the same time. The amazon deal went thru first so I handed my ticket to a dad and told him Merry Christmas.Had no problem with anything.FedX and UPS guys became like family ...lol

lmao! my UPS mans' name is joe, and he is always happy to see me! always asks what I've ordered this week. expects to see me a week or two after black friday. I'm always happy to see him!

On line is good, but usually something from walmart gets messed up. but I won't go there on bf because of the rude people i've encountered there before, so its worth the price I pay to have small things cancelled, not to go there.

I was just coming to find a thread like this! :D Ok, so I would far rather do my BF shopping at home this year (much less complicated with the kids), but I want to make sure I get what I want! LOL So are most things in the BF ads available? As long as they aren't marked "not available online", that should mean that you can get everything else online, right? Do the online sales start at the same time as in store? I live 30 minutes from any stores, so I need to know whether I should risk staying at home or figure out whether I can make it to a store in time. So I can't really mess around online to see if I can order, just to find out I can't and then be late at the B&M, ya know? So I'm kinda confused as to which direction I should be concentrating LOL

Radio shack IMO is the worst. Cancelled my items 2 years in a row. Got confirmation numbers... Even sent a ready to pick up email. Got to the store and the manager said items were cancelled! They wouldn't do anything for me. Showed them my pick up email and they still wouldn't do anything. I will never order from there again

Anything I've wanted from Amazon I've done fine with. I seem to remember some of that went on sale at 2 am. Kohls last year sucked with their site crashing all morning. I've also had success shopping at TRU, Sears and JCPenney online. This year I'm only going to one store and I'm hoping to do the rest online. Hubby and I will be working as a team on our laptops from the living room.

Last year at 3:00am PST most of then BB and all of the WM early bird specials were available online...and I was able to score on the laptops and desktop....but......the problem people had with items OOS in thier cart at checkout was because they were not registered yet for that store or continued to shop for other items thinking that the stuff in thier cart was secure. Until your check out is complete the items are still in stock for others to purchase. This is why you pre-register with WM and BB so its a one click and your out of there then go back in and continue shopping for the other item/items....no time spent adding shipping addy or billing addy.....just a lilttle tip.....

Yep. As soon as you toss something into your cart, you have to check out immediately. Then continue shopping. Great thing this year is with free shipping, it doesn't cost more to do it this way.

How do you know what stores will have the stuff available online and when? last year I ordered from old navy and penneys with no problems whatsoever.

As HappySunshine just said:

will not know until sales goes active which items will be available.
