How many years have you been Black Friday-ing it?

20 years for me. I took my hubby with me when we were dating. He has never gone again. It scared him!

Thanks to this site, it is so much easier to get organized. I remember the days of trying to sort through the ads and come up with a plan on Thanksgiving day. Now I've got my plan in place without having to run to get my newspaper on Thanksgiving Day.

I have been Black Fridaying it since I was a teenager when I'd go out with my mother. Now I'm 40, Mom's passed so it's just me and my sister. For a couple of years we included our two younger sisters but they just got to be too much for us, with their bickering and fighting...so now it's just us 40 somethings!

I found this website in 2007 and started going shopping that year . I can't believe I had gone my entire life without going BF shopping! I'm addicted to shopping and really didn't hear much about it until then. (I must of lived on a different planet) I'm soooooooo addicted to BF I don't know how I went that long without ever going.

I didn't even know what BF was nor understand what it was until 20's. We just never had family shop at this time. Usually they found deals during the year and shopped then. Another thing was I didn't find BF or forums till 20's and Ive been shopping since 6-7 yrs ago.

16 years and counting! I know this because it wasn't until we got our Walmart that we actually had BF sales. We had always had a Kmart, but never a BF sale. Strange eh? I went alone and brought a huge thermos of coffee, I sold out quickly. :) People just kept coming up offeringme a dollar for a cup of my coffee. I think I made 5 bucks. I should have brought a drum of it the next year!

This will be my 5th year. My first year I brought DD, about 1 at the time, to Best buy about 11am to get a desktop. What, it was my first year, I didn't know any better! I did get the computer I wanted though! ;) My second year consisted of me standing outside of Circuit City in 40o weather for 8 hours to NOT get the laptop I was standing in line to get FOR my SIL! I went home with nothing. My third year was standing in line with a drunk guy for 6 hours and shoving, pushing and getting hit when the doors opened at our local WalMart...good times. Last year was a lot more calm and organized. It wasn't as "thrilling" but I also wasn't as scared. ;)

My girlfriend and I have been going for about 17 yrs......it was always about the "hot" toys. We would get amazing deals at Caldors and stand in line forever. We go now for tradition and thankfully the lines are not as bad as they used to be! Looking forward to another Black Friday!

Since the early 1980's, but the last few years, the "deals" have become anything but a deal and not worth sitting in line for a day. Guess just a sign of the economy.

The last two years, have been much more an online BF'er, esp. with Amazon and Newegg. We have Amazon Prime so we buy on BF, overnight ship for $3.99 and have it Saturday. Gotta love Prime!

But we did venture out last year and hit a few stores, notably JCP. Got some tremendous savings there last year on necessaries we'd been putting off.....coats, etc.

  • 2 weeks later...

Since my son was little. He was born in 1994. I think I started out by 1996.

Our son was born in the same year. We had to split up BF duties when he was little. The late 90's were not the best for BF as I remember, but they picked up considerably after 2001.:) Do you remember when people were fighting over Razor scooters? It had to be 1996 or 1997. :eyepoppin

Ive been going since I was 20, so this will be my 5th year. Prior to that, nobody I really knew had the desire to shop BF. My sister (14 at the time) was my tagalong that first year and really never got into it like I did. She's kinda been one of those "I'll get whatever jumps out at me" people. She still loves the thrill and tradition of it, but I'm hoping this year she steps up and plans so I don't feel like Hitler while we're out. lol....

That weekend is always chaotic now as I have a 3 yr old whose bday is the 27th (last year was on BF) and a MIL whose bday is the 25th. So while I may lack quite a bit of sleep for a day or two, I'm usually out at the stores by midnight and home recovering by 10am. :-)
