I got yellow dot items today 90% off too..ringing up INF..asked once person who was very snotty and told me NO and tried to grab all the stuff I had saying it was supposed to be taken off the shelf..she literally tried to GRAB MY CART!!

 

I told her that I'd ask at the customer service desk, TYVM and if they said it was not to be sold I'd but it back where it came from because it was not my job to clear their salvage items for them...I scored 30+ items at 0.10 after the young girl at the customer service desk called the manager...he said "they are alot easier to just sell then salvage..."

 

I also got a young guy to ring up some INF toys in Lubbock,TX the other day (legos too..) for the 75% and scored the ice tea makers in Midland,TX for 1.99 each after they rang up INF with a male manager of electronics..

 

The men seem more likely to not fight you for some reason...or younger cashiers.

I DID find some "new yellow dot" on the shelf though so buyer beware...WATCH the items at checkout, I nearly bought 10 packs of pencils at $1.00 that I didn't really need because I thought they were part of the 0.10 yellow dot (some color yellow...just warning for those still scouting for yellow dot items)

 

AND the "snotty woman" said they were supposed to be pulled as salvage SUNDAY...

Orange Park Fl Target on Wells Rd has Much of the planters and some storage benches for 50% off. Inside the store there is an aisle of hoses, OFF bugspray, and such that is only 30% (just marked today) Someone Holler when and if they see plants and grills go 50%. Thanks!

I saw one grill that was 50% off today. It was a Brinkman, silver and black (did not get the DCPI's). There was also a red Brinkman that was only 30% off. Planters were only 30% and some were not marked down at all (the really nice ones of course). A lot of garden stuff is 30% now. Seasonal air fresheners (Glade, Air Wick, Febreze spring/summer) and discontinued natural household cleaners (Method, 7th Gen, etc) were 50%.

I know!! All my Target's cashiers get furious when they have to sell you something if it has already been salvaged. I thought my cashier was going to hyperventilate from all her sighing the other day b/c she had to manually add the salvaged yellow dollar spot stuff for 25 cents. From the way they act, you would think they got paid commission or something.

I think they get reviewed on their speed at checkout, so things like manually entering prices and lots and lots of coupons can affect those speed scores. Not that it is an excuse to be rude to people, though.

 

My cashier (who is one of my favorite) was also annoyed with having to manually enter in the price over and over.

Saw lots of infant/toddler clothes marked straight to 50%-- unusual for here b/c they usually start at 30% and take forever to get to 50. Saw some microwaves at 15% and 30%. Most garden stuff still at 30% but some fertilizers/weed killers--that sort of thing at 50%. Some stuff in sporting goods and camping stuff at 15% and 30%. Lots of table settings plates etc in a variety of colors/patterns at 30%. Saw a fair amount of formula at 15%. My only good find was:

Red Brinkmann for 149 today!! Was tempted to hold out, there were two left, and a lady came over and was gushing over it with her husband, so I grabbed it. Also, our Copper Fire pits were 55, from 80, grabbed that too. so much for patience and waiting!

There were also green tricycles and pink tricycles for 30% off-- the ones already put together, not the ones in the box. My store had a bunch, so I expect they'll go down more.

I was told that the one on Argyle Forest had grills for 50%. I was going to check it out today after work. I really really need a new grill this year.

There are other stores around that have A LOT of grills left..I went that same day to the other one with a lot and they were only 30%..there is a couple other stores that had an abundance, so maybe there will still be one when it gets to 75%! I'll just have to keep checking. But I did get this one for 50%, but if I find it better, I'll exchange! Holding off on putting it together for a week or two and will keep checking!

Nothing much to report from here, but there was lots of frozen clearance at 50%. I know food is a ymmv thing, but there was everything from vegtables, fruits, juice concentrate, deserts, entrees, etc.

Tons of red tags everywhere I looked today, except electronics. Nothing at 75%, but there are lots of things I will be watching. Stocked up on the frozen fruit (at 50% off too). If you are buying the frozen foods, make sure to check the expiration date. I always check my items and quite a few of them in the freezers had expiration dates of May and June of this year!

I'm not sure if this is a regular sale item but I found the Hostess Twinkies, Hostess Cupcakes, and Hostess Ding Dongs on sale for $2.50 per box. It is a good deal considering there are 8-10 per box and usually at least $5+ regular price. They were out of the Twinkies when I went to check back later in the day.

Depending on the type of expiration date and the food, it can be perfectly fine to buy things close to or after the date. Here is a good quote from Businessweek on the topic:

 

DATE DATA. The dates, for one, mean quite different things. For instance, "sell by" is more a guide for the store to know how long it can display a product for sale. The "best before" or "best if used by" date refers to a quality or flavor of the food. "Use by" works more like an expiration date, similar to that on medicines, and taking them after the date is not recommended.

* "Sell by" date. The labeling "sell by" tells the store how long to display the product for sale. You should buy the product before the date expires. This is basically a guide for the retailer, so the store knows when to pull the item. This is not mandatory, so reach in back and get the freshest. How Long Are Foods OK to Eat?

 

If you are not up on your Julian calendar and dating seems sort of a hodgepodge, how about memorizing some basic rules?

 

* Milk. Usually fine until a week after the "Sell By" date.

* Eggs. OK for 3-5 weeks after you bring them home (assuming you bought them before the "sell by" date). VanLandingham says double-grade As will go down a grade in a week but still be perfectly edible.

* Poultry and seafood. Cook or freeze this within a day or two.

* Beef and pork. Cook or freeze within three to five days.

* Canned goods. Highly acidic foods like tomato sauce can keep 18 months or more. Low-acid foods like canned green beans are probably risk-free for up to five years.
