Elf on the Shelf - On sale anywhere?

After reading about the Elf on the Shelf in the holiday discussion threads, I'd love to do this for my boys... Apparently, you can't buy the book alone, and the $30-$40 price tag is a little steep for me... anyone know if I can find them any cheaper?

I have seen them at Borders... Maybe you can use a coupon on it? ... they have them all the time.... here is a 30% printable one... you just have to be a member to use it..

I purchased mine yesterday from Hallmark. It was $30.00, but I had a $5.00 coupon that was sent to my e-mail, and I had $3.00 reward coupon from their reward program. So it ended up costing $22.00.

I saw the new B&N coupons somewhere that are for $10 off of it, leaving it $20 I think. They are printables, but I think they can be used online. I'll keep looking and see if I can't find them (or remember where I saw them!)

I got mine from Borders when they had a 50% (?) off coupon a while back. They didn't even have them on the floor yet and had to get it from the back room. Ended up being 17.50

I did the elf on the shelf concept but just picked up a small elf somewhere else. You can buy just the book on ebay usually. But I kind of made up my own where the elf gets into mischief and reports back to Santa as well. But my daughter is always so excited to see what kind of disaster the elf has caused.

Last year the elf was swinging on the fan, opened all cabinet doors in the kitchen, dumped out a bag of m&m's hung her panties on the christmas tree and all kinds of stuff.

Learning Express Toys always has them, and they usually have a 25% off coupon. They also have a new stuffed version of the Elf on the Shelf (cuter I think) without the book and I think it was around $12.

Are there anymore coupons for this. I got one for my dgd and dil now wants another one for the 6 mos old. I need a new coupon or sale price from somewhere. The barnes and noble has expired. I knew I should have gotten two!!!

I just got the Elf on the Shelf from Borders.com for $18.98 shipped. It's on backorder right now so I guess we'll do this for Christmas next year. The two codes I used were:
