eileenrich Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 Just got back from our local Walmart and not a sole in the store would dicuss the Saturday Sale beginning at 8am...Bahumbug! But I was able to score some Tom Turkeys for .40 a pound, limit 2 per person if anyone is in need! Makes great Turkey pot pie with the left overs! I have had better results with this turkey in the past then with the bigger name brands! Happy Shopping!
supershopper1 Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 This is YMMV. Our store started 2 weeks ago. Riverside brand .40 gone! Honeysuckel .60 gone! Only Butterball .90 & all others higher left.
davephillyj Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 Ours got a new shipment Last night and they were filling all the bins again. They are supposed to do this all month.....
evansjune Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 I don't have freezer space for one right now...when is the earliest I can get one and put it in the fridge? Thank everyone!
dealluvr Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 if i were you i would get a big box fill with newspaper then ice then newpaper then ice again.put in a place where animals cant get to it.i think it might be fine just adding ice every other day or something til maybe the week of thanksgiving
davephillyj Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 You can also just fill an ice chest with ice and the turkey. It will keep really good like that too.
guilliam Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 Our Walmart told me they 900 of these turkeys in on a truck and sold out of them in less than 1 day!! Thus the limit of 2 now.
mabennett Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 our HEB now has honeysuckle for 40cents too. more competition for Walmart??
bugsette Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 Our Giant Eagle is selling their brand for .40 per pund and I think the name brand for .66 limit 1 per customer
dalgal101 Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 Our Wal-Mart had the .40 turkeys marked to .33 yesterday with a limit of 2.
Cinnamonhuskies Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 ours have been oos for some time now...and they raised the price to .60
peppysfireball Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 They have different ones from the 40 to the 60 cents. I talked to the manager at our walmart because they were out. He said they get more on every truck, you just need to be there, usually Monday mornings. He said they are priced before they come in , so it isn't the store doing it.
santaclaus Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 I found out too late that I had eaten one of the 40 cents a pound turkeys at our sons house. It was really good, every bit as good as brand name. I did get two of the 60 cent a pound Honeysuckle White, paid just under $10 for each. Has anyone but me noticed that Walmart has marked up the stuff you need to go with the turkey?
msmama Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 Our Walmart has taken down the .40 & .60 turkey signs. only have Honeysuckle. As for the other stuff- gravy .75, stove top .75, ain't seeing any price mark-ups here. actually cheapest in town.
Cinnamonhuskies Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 when does the walmart trucks usually come in? What time in the morning should I be there for turkeys, IF they still carry them.
Cinnamonhuskies Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 our Glen's Markets has a turkey for .40 a pound IF you have their special store card and IF you buy $20 worth of groceries...
nikkilugi Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 our Glen's Markets has a turkey for .40 a pound IF you have their special store card and IF you buy $20 worth of groceries...Exact same deal with Price Choppers here in our town.
jlr1260 Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 I got a .40 River Bend turkey early Friday morning at Walmart (I meant to post here and forgot). It was about 8:00 am and there weren't many left. I got a 14 pounder for just over 5 bucks. I'll be serving Christmas dinner for five people for about $15.
jlr1260 Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 Has anyone but me noticed that Walmart has marked up the stuff you need to go with the turkey?I think it's Target that has Stovetop for only 79¢ a box this week. Bring the flyer to Walmart and they'll price match. Although my Walmart is pretty good about marking things down a little lower than the competitor.

jlr1260 Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 Today's Walmart flyer has a Stove Top 2 pack for $1.50.
Stowasser Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 What is Stove top exactly?Stuffing Our Walmart doesn't have the .40 Turkeys, they had a few several weeks ago but didn't pick any up, I wanted to get one for the food bank, they are looking for 2500 Turkeys
micnic Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 just bought 2 at .40 lb! They have a new ad (Nov 18th-22nd) advertising them again.
ailes220 Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 Just bought a 22 pound turkey for $8.xx! Yeah,I just hope its a good turkey!
davephillyj Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 They sure were! I cooked one a few days after purchasing mine. MMMmmmmmm~!!!! I found out what stove top stuff is. I have eaten that, but it is gross. Like eating soggy croutons..... I make my dressing home made with cornbread, turkey drippings, onions, bell peppers and celery, and a little bit of sage.
hinman Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 Just bought a 22 pound turkey for $8.xx! Yeah,I just hope its a good turkey!I bought one about 2 weeks ago and had it> I cooked it in the cooking bags, it was so good. I for one cant tell the differnce in brands and beleive it is more on how you cook it. Well hope it comes out good for you. Enjoy and have a Happy Thanksgiving!
davephillyj Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 I agree. Who cares what name is on the plastic the bird is wrapped in. They all have the same dna stuff. It is the way you cook it. Butterball does have more flavors, but the amount of solution and chemicals they put into them....Well, I would rather season mine myself...
ajosiah Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 Kroger is selling Jenni O Turkeys for .33 a lb with an additional $20 purchase. Our local Walmart is price matching the Turkey without the $20 purchase I was able to score 2 turkeys for under $10.
evansjune Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 I haven't gotten my hands on one of these yet but I'm still going to keep searching!
