Gporter34 Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 oooohhhh it could be like a BF drinking game...take a shot anytime you get the high traffic message....We will all be JOLLY by Thanksgiving! LOLThat would be fun!!!:yup:
chimeralife Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 Luckily I had just saved the BB adscan before it went down. Otherwise I may have needed medication and a padded room. This is crazy this is crazy this is so dang cool and I can't stop myself!!!!!!!!!!!!!
JohnnyLaRue Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 I thought the high traffic was due to the Best Buy ad being posted...
crazypurgatory Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 we also might close the forum to lurkers, so if you are lurking, consider registering so you won't be shut out.I think this would be a great idea since I was posting a reply to three people and when I hit submit reply the sight was down.I had to wait and retype it all over.
Brad Posted November 13, 2009 Author Posted November 13, 2009 we should be good now, at least through the weekend. this was kind of a "perfect storm" of big stories all happening at once, something that's never happened before.
bigjimslade Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 They just showed the site on WFAA-TV in Dallas, Texas.
pampam Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 Smile-worthy mention of GottaDeal in Yahoo's Buzz Log: "It's OK, your secret's safe with us. And believe us, lots of people are searching the Web for deals galore. Lookups on specialized sites that track store specials, like ****.info have soared 600%. ****.net searches are up 500%. And searches on GotaDeal.com, have spiked an amazing 2,000% in the last week." http://buzz.yahoo.com/buzzlog/93175?fp=1Edited to add: I just noticed they misspelled GottaDeal. "Gotadeal" is definitely not a BF site.
Brad Posted November 18, 2009 Author Posted November 18, 2009 Today is shaping up to be another busy day with the WM ad being posted. If we happen to be mentioned in any really big stories about the ad, the forums may have to temporarily close, so just be aware :)
Brad Posted November 18, 2009 Author Posted November 18, 2009 we're going to try keeping the forum open and see what happens. no guarantees that we won't have to close it again, but we'll try. just let pages load and don't keep refreshing. we've had stories on msn before, but up until this year they've never been linked on the home page. and the "problem" happens because there are millions of people out there using internet explorer that never changed their home page from the default... msn.com of course
bugsette Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 glad your back....... thanks Brad for all your hard work
lilac100 Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 OMG didn't think it would ever be back up.
Brad Posted November 19, 2009 Author Posted November 19, 2009 i've been chatting with the head guy at our hosting provider during this while they made some optimizations. he said right now we're getting the most traffic we've ever had
