  1. My Mother is looking to save a little bit of money on a few of her medications, so I thought I’d ask here if anybody knows of a site that has a good reputation where she can do that. Obviously, she’s concerned with saving money, but I’m also concerned with quality. The last thing I want is for her to buy something because it’s cheap only to discover that they “watered it down” so that they could sell it cheap. Or even worse, they’ve hired a bunch of fools who don’t know what they’re doing who end up sending my mom the wrong thing. So, does anybody know of a site that has a reputation for quality and reasonably low prices? And if you have any first hand dealings with any such site, and you’d like to pass it along, that’d be most helpful.
  2. Err, sorry for such a longwinded post. Got a little bit carried away I guess. lol
  3. It’s not our responsibility to make sure that a store charges us what they want to charge us. If they can’t get their act together, that’s their problem. In a post above, I mentioned an incident where I got a chair that was listed at $110 for only $15.50. I didn’t have a problem morally with getting the chair for that price because I arrived at that situation through no treachery on my part. There was a computer error in the register. I don’t feel that it’s my duty to make sure that a store charges me the correct amount. Therefore, my conscience is perfectly clear on that matter. However, another recent incident left me feeling differently. It was a few days before Thanksgiving and I was at the supermarket picking up a few things for the coming meal. While I was at the checkout I unloaded the items from my cart, but I apparently missed one thing. It was a small container of sage. It wasn’t intentional on my part, but I ended up walking out of the store without paying for it. When, I was loading stuff into my car I saw it there and assumed that it had fallen out of a bag, so I threw it into one of the bags. While driving home though, it started to nag at me as to how it could have fallen out of one of the bags like that. So when I got home, I checked the receipt. When I didn’t find it on the receipt, I realized what must have happened. I immediately started feeling guilty over it. Even though it wasn’t intentional. So I went back down to the store and spoke to the manager about it. I apologized to him and assured him that it was just an error and that I was gonna pay for it now. He was very polite, but he seemed a little bit stunned that I bothered to come back in and pay for it and even more so that I was apologizing to him for it. But it was something that I had to do. Unlike the incident with the chair, this was a mistake that was my fault. As I said above, it’s not my responsibility to make sure that they charge me as much as they would like to charge for an item. But if somehow I end up getting something for the incorrect amount as a result of an error on my part, then I would feel morally obligated to correct the matter.
  4. The computer chair that I'm sitting in right now was supposed to be $110, but for some reason it rang up at $15.50 at the check-out. The clerk didn’t seem to realize the mistake when I bought it (though I certainly did) and I had no qualms about getting it for $15.50. So I handed him the cash and got out of the store as quickly as I could. My conscience doesn't bother me at all over that. I went to the register willing to pay the full $110. It’s not like I did something to get it to ring up at the wrong price. I don’t think the kid ringing it up did anything wrong either. It appeared to be a glitch in the computer that caused it to ring up wrong.
  5. I typically find that KBtoys prices are somewhat inflated. They're usually a last resort for me if I'm looking for something. I've grumbled a little bit in another topic about how Wal-Mart's ads frequently list items as being "everyday low price", but to be fair, their prices usually are lower than other stores. Excluding sale prices at other stores, of course.
  6. Neither would I. After all, it's their mistake. Not like you schemed a way to get the 256mb one at the 128mb price.
  7. The big Zilch. I didn't even notice the topic with the free tickets until it was too late. No big deal though, there isn't anything playing right now that I really want to see. Even if it would be for free.
  8. Sorry to hear you had such bad luck. When it comes to video game consoles, it really is wise to get one of those product replacement plans. So if you’re gonna try and get a Wii, I’d give some thought to buying a PRP with it. Nintendo generally has the best reputation as far as durability/reliability goes. Followed buy Microsoft’s Xbox and in a distant, distant third are Sony’s playstations (1 and 2, anyway). I’ve owned an Xbox since it launched and a Gamecube since mid-2002 and I haven’t had any trouble with either of those. Conversely, I’ve owned a PS2 for about 2 years now and have already had to replace it twice. Thank god for the replacement plans, lol. BTW, how long is the return window where you bought your 360? You said it hadn’t even been a month since you bought it. Couldn’t you just return it there instead of having to ship it for repairs? After all, you probably just got a dud 360. You might have better luck with a new one. That is, assuming that you’re not too frustrated with the 360 to try it again.
  9. Ah, I see, a special of the day. I'll probably pick up some of those bratz dolls for my niece next Saturday. Thanks again for posting this.
  10. Just got back from Kohl's. Got a jacket that would have ordinarily cost me $140 for only $49. That $140 amount might have been a bit marked up to start with, but still, $49 for a good jacket, I'm pretty happy with that. Thanks again RealLivePrinces for the advance look at the flyer so I could determine that it was better to hold off until this weekend.
  11. Thanks for posting. I have a question though. Is it just one item per day? Or did you just pick out which item looked to be the best for each day?
  12. Thanks for posting this. There are two ways I can look at that ad. I can either be relieved that nothing that I bought recently is about to go on sale for a drastically (or even a slightly) lower price. Or I can grumble to myself about how there doesn't seem to be much in the way of bargains there. At least, not on anything that I'm interested in. What's with all the items being listed as their everyday price? You mean that I actually get to buy all those things for the price that I'd ordinarily be able to get them for? Gee, thanks Wal-Mart.
  13. Thanks for the clarification RealLivePrinces. And thanks again for the advice on when to buy the coat.
  14. I both agree with your post and applaud the use of the flasher smily in it. This site sure has some funny emoticons.
  15. Thanks for the reply. :) It sounds like it’d be better to wait until next week to go get that coat. Though I’m a little bit perplexed by the way you’ve worded it. What does “night owls & early birds” mean? Are those prices only good during certain hours? And then it says “"Lowest Prices of the Season" prices on most stuff during power hours”. That also implies that the sale prices are only during certain hours. Could you clarify that for me? I appreciate the help.
  16. I need a new winter coat and I see that Kohl's has them at 50% off today and tomorrow. Any chance that it'll be any cheaper in the next month or so?
  17. Cool. Wendy’s is my favorite fast food restaurant. Thanks for the heads up.
  18. Oh, don't go to any trouble on my account. I already own the original Xbox and I'm waiting until the Xbox 360 gets a few more good games before I jump on board with that console. I was just curious. Now that I think about it, it's probably the Xbox 360 that the rebate is for. The original Xbox is only $130, so a $100 rebate is a little bit more than they'd likely offer on something that low. You'd end up getting one for $30.
  19. Is that the original Xbox, or the Xbox 360?
  20. Wow! Your Best Buy must be a heck of a lot bigger/busier than mine. There were 444 of them at my Best Buy, and I was still able to get one even though I didn't get there until 6:30 AM. In fact, there where at least 50 of em left when I picked mine up. My word, 1000 in ten minutes? That place must have been insane.
  21. I gots mine! Not too surprising though, considering that its Thanksgiving already. I don't have a subscription to any paper, so I took a walk down to a local convenience store and picked up a copy of the Boston Herald. I ended up with 5 copies of the Radio Shack flyer, though. I guess some people out there aren't gonna get their Radio Shack flyer with their paper today.
  22. I would also like to add my thanks to the people behind this site. Also, I'd like to thank those who've helped answer questions that I have about BF and to those who asked some of the questions that I had before I had to ask them. This is gonna be my first Black Friday, so the advice of all the seasoned pros here has been very helpful.
  23. Bah, I was told that the ads would be in today's Patriot Ledger (a south of Boston Newspaper). I just got back from the store and I can say conclusively that the people that told me that didn't know what they were talking about. Oh well, it gives me an excuse to go out for a walk tomorrow morning, I guess.
  24. The local paper (which comes out in the afternoon) supposedly has them in it today. I'm gonna pick one up in a few minutes. It's nice to have the preview copies available here on Gottadeal, but I'm looking forward to being able to browse trough my own copy. Plus it'll come in handy if I decide to try and price match something.
