  1. FYI - Meijer has done a Thursday morning sale for the last several years now. This isn't new. I've taken advantage of the "buy one pair, get one for $1" Thursday shoe sale a few times.
  2. I'll be waiting on the Nikon L840 camera bundle myself. Not a doorbuster (thankfully!) but still a pretty darn good deal on a camera I've been looking into for several months. It's an upgrade from what I have and, since one of my best friends already has this model, I've seen the quality of pictures I can get with it first hand. (Bonus!) Just hope I'm not up all night waiting for it!!! lol
  3. It means they don't change the prices on all items at the same time. So (hypothetical example only) while the TV you want might get tagged with its sale price at midnight, you might have to wait another couple of hours before that laptop you're eyeing gets tagged with its BF price.
  4. Well, I just went to Kohl's site and, since I don't have a Kohl's charge (and I have NO desire to add yet another CC to my collection), the discounts I can stack aren't quite enough to match the BF pricing for what I want. If I had a Kohl's charge, it'd be very close.
  5. You'd be amazed at how well a 13-year old might be able to build a computer. It's actually relatively simple. Mostly a plug-and-play affair, as long as you gather the right parts. My brother and I built two different desktops for me back in the day and brother has also built a few for himself. First one we built, I was just out of HS and brother was about your son's age, kds.
  6. I'm actually eyeing the Nikon L840 in the BBY ad, Jen. A friend of mine has it. Uses it to take all sorts of different kinds of pictures. Not pocket sized by any means, but a lot of camera for the money ($170 on BF). Takes great pictures straight out of the box, but has a lot of extra capability as well if you choose to learn more about the various settings. The bonus (for me at least) is that you can actually buy filters that will attach to the lens (threaded lens). I've had good luck using a polarizing filter on a Fuji I had previously. BBY generally has this one on display where you can play with it in the store. (Also a bonus if you just want to get a feel for the camera in your hands.)
  7. Sure it's not Shishi, Shishi & Shishi going through the Sharpies at an alarming rate? lol
  8. I am THERE! Ha. Caught most of last night's. Good stuff, BJS.
  9. Congrats winners! Fun contest, Brad.
  10. Ooh... I *like* the lanyard idea. Hadn't ever thought of that! I make sure my trunk starts the day empty to help hide any large goodies I pick up. Blankets are always in there though, too, seeing as I live in Michigan and, well, winter. lol
  11. It is indeed Zehnder's that is the closer of the two. I used to go to Frankenmuth (and Bronner's) every year, but haven't been in a few years, simply because I haven't had the time when I've been in a mood to go. It's almost a 2 hour drive for me one-way, so it's an all day thing if I'm going to go. I do love it there, though. The "cheese haus" in town always has some interesting flavors, too.
  12. OK... Actually managed to focus on my work all morning. (Impressive, with this ad calling my name rather loudly! Ha!) They have the Nikon CP L840 I've had my eye on for a while for $169.99, with a free bag and an 8GB card... I may finally pull the trigger on this one, as that's been priced at $300 for a while now and, while I've seen a few deals here and there, I either haven't had the cash or I found out about the deal too late. Will keep an eye on Amazon just in case, though. ETA: I'll be taking a closer look at that Canon, too. Impressive zoom for only $30 more.
  13. Couldn't quite keep my eyes open late enough last night. Good news to wake up to this morning, though. Fighting the urge to go plowing through the ad right this second, though, because I actually have some *real* work that requires my attention! lol
  14. Wow. 3:00. That's garbage. No way I'm going to JCP (?!?) at 3 on THANKSGIVING... I might check them out when I'm out on Friday but good grief.
  15. OK... At first glance, not overly impressed but there do appear to be some decent deals. Heavily depends on what you're shopping for.
  16. Woohoo!!! *adding to site slowdown*
  17. Seeing as I'm usually only out for a few hours on Friday morning, I don't really do a "survival kit". I do typically take a bottle of water with me when I head out and then grab a drink of either the "hot cocoa" or "cold & fizzy" variety when all is said and done, though.
  18. The camera deals are okay but I've already seen the Canon for the same price elsewhere, no membership required. Really wishing I had it in the budget to upgrade to a "real" SLR this year, but I just can't squeeze it in. Maybe by next year.
  19. I hear you there. Yeah, with no Meijer nearby to you, that is still the best deal I've seen thus far. Keep your eyes peeled for coupons. I do enjoy not having to buy more litter till summer, at least. (Limited by space in car! Ha!) That's another thing that will help me with it being at Meijer. I can run the first round of litter home and run back to try for a second round. Might actually get enough to last the year for once!
  20. I'm thinking of getting some new pillows. Nothing special, so the Big Ones in the ad should do nicely. Good to know about those cookie sheets, jakesmommy. I have four good (old) ones, but have been considering adding a few new ones just to be able to bake a bit more efficiently. Also seeing they have the stacked cooling racks on the same sale. Definitely need more of those! (When you bake as much as I do, especially around Christmas, you're always looking for more space/better ways to get it done!) *runs off to make list*
  21. Man, I wish my cats used litter that lightly. I go through a pail every couple of months between what they manage to throw out of the (framed) littler boxes and what actually gets used. I'm through the 4 or 5 I buy on BF by late summer. lol And yeah, the ad is pretty "meh" for me otherwise. If I find a cat tree I like, I'll buy that and use the bonus bucks I get on it to go back and get the treats for Dad's doggers.
  22. So with PetSmart's ad dropping this morning, I am *definitely* getting my litter from Meijer this year. Wow. Over $1 cheaper per 35-lb pail. If I can rustle up some coupons, that'll be added bonus. My lists are starting to firm up a bit as more of the ads I've been waiting for are coming out.
  23. Wow... For a change, I won't be buying litter at PetSmart this year. Meijer actually beat them. Granted, it's a Thursday sale at Meijer, but we don't do much in the morning on Thanksgiving anyhow. Dad won't mind if I make a quick run to stock up. The only thing I'll be going to PetSmart for this year would be to look at replacing one of my older cat trees and maybe some treats for Dad's dogs. I won't even be racing to be one of the first 100 there, since they're switching from the stocking full of goodies & coupons to an ornament and a movie rental. Kinda bummed actually.
  24. A teenager was on one of these things in Meijer the other day and about ran me over on it because he wasn't really paying attention... First time I'd seen one up close. They look cool but folks *have* to pay attention if they're going to ride them, especially in relatively tight and/or crowded areas. Good luck on your hunt!
