  1. I check in a lot to see who has liked my posts You need to treat this year -- every Christmas season -- as a shopping event. Compile a list of stuff you want and the prices you'd be happy to pay. As you peruse the ads, jump of deals that exceed your expectations. You can always return/price adjust. I expect popular items to sell fast as there is almost certainly limited supply and the other stuff to get cheaper going forward as demand is just as certainly limited. Exactly. Buy, price match, return/rebuy. It's time to get started. I've been feeling like this might be the last year here. It feels like things may be winding down...
  2. When you buy from Walmart, there is little risk. If you do not like the set, they have a generous return policy. TCL competes with these on price, performance, features, and customer service. Price is easy to compare. It's tough to beat a 70" TV for $300. Performance is a little more challenging. You need to watch the programming that matters to you to ensure picture quality under the specific conditions you plan to watch. Is the set reflective, what happens when the picture gets very dark, how things look when the room is brightly lit or you are sitting at an angle, and what happens when things are moving fast on the screen. It's hard to test these things in the store. Customer service is harder to measure. I had a 55" TCL set fail under warranty. They sent a guy to my house to repair the inexpensive tv. That's uncommon. I posted a question about their new android sets on bestbuy.com. They monitor the questions and comments and called my home to clarify my question. Two features I really like about the TCL Roku sets are their EPG and support for 'trick play'. Both features benefit cord cutters. The TV uses PSIP data to populate a grid style Electronic Program Guide. That means you do not need a service or even an internet connection to have a very nice program guide. Great at my sister's camp and my in-laws home where there is no internet service. Trick play is pausing, rewinding, and fast forwarding through a program. Plug a 16GB thumb drive into one of these sets, and it creates a two hour buffer for trick play. You can pause a program while you take a phone call or eat dinner. I have a couple of the 55" sets. One sits above and to the left of my desk. At that angle, the picture looks great. I do not see motion blur when watching sports (hockey is a good test). My kid sits two feet back from the other one to play games on an Xbox One. He claims there is no lag and the picture looks great. That is the one that failed. Still working two years later. Walmart has the 55" TCL Roku TV for $148 in their second event. The sale is online only. Happy shopping!

  5. I got a Sams membership JUST to buy the Legends Ultimate Arcade... https://youtu.be/HxZ34zWOoe0https://arcades.atgames.net/350-games/
  6. I like that laptop, but consider a desktop or a console.
  7. You simply put the deals where you want people to be.
  8. If you are still shopping, Walmart has the TP-Link Archer AX1800 | 4 Stream Dual-Band Wi-Fi 6 Wireless Router | Up to 1.8 Gbps Speeds | 1.5 GHz Quad-Core CPU for $129. Wirecutter loves this router (UPDATED SEPTEMBER 14, 2020)... Happy shopping!
  9. Lately, I see a $5 KC offer for pickup at just about every checkout. Since I drive past a Kohls on my commute, I pocket the $5. I am growing weary of unreliable, heavy handed delivery anyway.
  10. Genius, right? I think they played the situation perfectly. High road on turkey day, get traffic in the store when most are at work, and finish up with an old fashioned black Friday sale.
  11. I don't know if Walmart is as smart as I am, but simply hand out tickets to people waiting in line. Let the people with Doorbuster tickets in immediately. Let others in to meet the 20% level. Count people going in and out to maintain the 20% level. Business as usual. People will hang around as long as the value of their ticket exceeds the pain of waiting.
  12. Who farted?!? I'm social distancing so if you can read this I probably got your doorbuster! Last one out, please turn the lights off...
  13. I wanted to post this... https://www.amazon.com/Maxx-Action-Chopper-Command-Electronic/dp/B07BCR93SP but it is out of stock at Amazon. Get one on ebay... https://www.ebay.com/i/133541083771?chn=ps I loved these when I was a kid. Then I thought I would just post my last purchase... https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000CFM7I BUT, I stumbled across this gem and you can expect any guy over the age of 50 to enjoy this very much! https://www.amazon.com/Ultimate-Ted-Nugent/dp/B00136NUTI Happy shopping!
  14. I see OPPORTUNITY! If only I had a new gottadeal.com T-Shirt to protect me as I crash these events...
  15. https://www.amazon.com/Infrared-Integrated-Convection-Resistant-Dehydrate/dp/B00IXBJPKO This is my air fryer. I'm going to get one for my oldest. While it is an excellent air fryer, there is much more to love about this kitchen appliance... The body is transparent. I live to see what I'm doing. It heats from above and below. You can adjust the ratio of heat top and bottom. No more flipping or shaking of food. The bottom heater is a grate. You get nice grill marks on your steak. It includes a probe so you can cook to the perfect temperature. The surface area is 531 square inches and the dome is six inches, so you can cook a meal for your family on this grill. It's easy to clean. It comes with 100 programs and you can add your own. If you know someone who would rather grill inside (like me) or is considering a air fryer, this would make a wonderful gift. Happy shopping!
  16. I use these to get ethernet from the first to the second floor of my home. Never even think about them... https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01H74VKZU
  17. This is not a confession. If you know someone who has hunkered down for the duration, a person whose only social interaction is via a camera attached to their computer, someone who has not filled their gas tank since August, these pajama pants may be the perfect gift... https://www.amazon.com/Amazon-Essentials-Flannel-Pajama-Buffalo/dp/B07BJL187N (PM me for ship to address)
  18. These forums are the only thing I need.
  19. The EA7500 is an excellent router. AC should give you robust coverage throughout your home. If possible, before spending money on a new router, I would install a wifi tool on your smartphone, tablet, or laptop and map out coverage. Then I would experiment with changing the location of the router. Generally, the best location for a WiFi hotspot is the center of your home, but appliances and building materials can cause problems. If you are unable to solve the problem this way, I'll jump on the Ubiquiti bandwagon. [Edited to add...] Also, if the devices you are having problems with are older devices, make sure the radios are AC. If not, you can easily upgrade... https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07P5PRK7J I bought this for a friend. He and his wife were using laptops at the same table. Hers kept dropping off while his was fine. I surveyed the site and found that the 2.4Ghz frequency was very crowded. Once we moved her to 5.0Ghz the laptop was rock solid. They live in a crowded neighborhood.
  20. https://www.amazon.com/Keurig-K-Duo-Coffee-Single-Compatible/dp/B07PC7MHQ8 Best single serve coffee maker ever. 6-8-10-12 oz brews, 'Strong' setting, and accommodations for a travel mug. On the weekends, you can brew fresh ground coffee into a carafe that sits on a heated plate. Perfect gift for someone who wants a better cup of coffee on the weekends.
  21. I had a package delivered to Walgreens because it required a signature and I was possibly going to be out of my home at the time of delivery (by end of day and they had already changed the day three times. Ironically, I was not required to sign for it when I picked it up). The box was damaged -- one corner crushed. It would not have been giftable, but it was OK for me. Walmart and Amazon are working hard to get us back in the B&Ms!
  22. https://www.amazon.com/Toysmith-Retro-Magic-Twirler-colors/dp/B0009XIF3W It's a Wheelo. One of the best toys ever and it fits in a stocking.
  23. I already decided not to make a purchase at Kohls that I would have made if I got the next level of Kohls Cash.
