  3. A TV, of course.
  4. My oldest always mocked my pantry. He was pretty happy to stop by and grab k-cups and toilet paper when the shelves were bare.
  5. Shopping for any kind of computer, the first step is to determine applications needs. Usually, that and budget narrow things a lot. Unless this is a surprise, ask what the tablet will be used for capturing any specific application and compatibility requirements. Post here or PM and I will find you the best deal on the best hardware within your budget.
  6. Christmas. For me, BF has always been the start of the Christmas season. The deals and lines came many years later.
  7. Or eat something else. If they are going to charge the same for turkey as rib roast, have yourself a prime rib Christmas!
  8. I think the back should be, "If You Can Read This, You Must Be In My Bedroom" in deference to the lockdowns.
  9. I don't really budget for Christmas because the $ is not the most important measure. I pay a lot less for a lot of things than retail, so equity is hardly ever measured in dollars. That said, I have two iPhones on my list, so ...
  10. A couple of mine hit the rag bag this year. Very good quality shirts that get a lot of use. I thought I discovered an unworn shirt, but it was a fatwallet shirt which is a different kind of treasure altogether.

  12. I am now officially a fan of The Holderness Family. Thanks for finding them for me.
  13. I love the Recast. I have the four tuner/1t version, but I do not expect there is much difference for most people. Either way, you can only stream to two devices concurrently. I love the way Amazon has integrated streaming and OTA. I love that I can stream to any Echo Show in my house. I think most of the whole house devices are softer than the set top boxes, but you will not likely notice unless you are comparing. I actually like the Sling TV DVR better. You can get it for $100 if you prepay for three months of Sling TV, so $200 for a 1t DVR that can stream outside the home. Your avatar makes me think summer never ends for you.
  14. Of the bunch, the Sling DVR is the best deal. Integrated disk and out of house streaming are important to me. I like the Recast, but you have to be in the Amazon echosystem. It's the best way to watch television on the Echo Show devices. You have to add a disk and a service for the Tablo TV DVR. Of course, if you are just looking for 'trick play', it's tough to beat the TCL Roku TVs.

  16. You are probably going to miss the DVR. Lots of times we wished we could pause or rewind. Lots of options out there for you.
  17. It's not that hard. You do not have to do everything at once. First step is to determine if over-the-air or FREE TV is an option. If you want to post or PM the GPS coordinates of the spot you expect to put an antenna or your street address, I can tell you what you can expect to receive.
  18. I cannot remember life before Plex. I've used Plex to serve up videos for as long as I can remember. I paid for a Plex Pass so that I could watch and record broadcast television via an HDHomerun. Plex has always intrigued me, always brimmed with potential, and always failed the WAF test. The WAF test is Wife Acceptance Factor or the likelihood that a solution will be embraced by nontechnical people. To be honest, despite having a robust library, it is rare that I run the Plex app on a television. I think that is about to change. Three changes have made Plex a very interesting television option... A 'modern' user interface The latest Plex update introduced a new user interface which is tiled, but includes a description of the highlighted program.Content Plex is a 'free content' provider adding 14,000 on demand movies and 100+ channels of streamed 'live tv' ATSC 3.0 Plex supports 4K OTA Free TV via the SiliconDust HDHomeRun Flex 4K.Plex pluses include... Unattended viewing Autoplay option facilitates binge viewing and lets me doze off to a favorite show. Autoplay stops after two hours of inactivity. Setting the television to do the same means I wake up to a quiet home after falling asleep to television.Antenna flexibility Plex integrates multiple network tuners so you can point multiple antennas to broadcast stations in different directions for best OTA reception -- no rotors is a good thing.Plex server requirements are modest. I run it on the HP Pavilion 590p0050 I bought in November of 2019... 2.8GHz Intel Core i5-8400 6-core processor with up to 4GHz turbo frequency and 9MB cache memory16GB memory1TB hard drive16GB OptaneGTX 1650 OC 4GBPlex runs in the background and I do not even notice. In fact, at times, I run the Plex web client on the same PC as I am running the server while doing other stuff. No problems. I use USB 3.0 disks for storage. Right now, you can get a PC for use as a Plex server for $249.00. Happy September!
  19. I paid full freight for an Xbox One Series X last year. I can't tell you how many hours I spent trying to secure it. I was relieved when I finally prevailed, but I am still butt hurt for paying retail.
  20. Not in the market myself, but the Ninja Foodi 6-in-1 Smart XL Indoor Grill with Air Fryer checks out for $161.99 with this code. Minus $30 Kohls Cash, $8.10 Kohls Rewards, and $5 Kohls Cash for picking it up, the net cost is $118.89. If I did not LOVE my NuWave Primo, I'd be all over this.
  21. from http://forums.gottadeal.com/topic/332427-gottadeal-2021-black-friday-prize-club-thread/?p=1497588 I am a very lazy TV viewer. I turn on a television in the morning when getting ready for work. I turn one on when I am preparing dinner and cleaning up. I fall asleep in front of one at the end of the day. Mostly, I just channel surf until I find something interesting. That's not hard these days. If I cannot find something over the air, I switch to Pluto. The thing is, I do not want to have to find a show or movie every 30 to 90 minutes. That's too much work most of the time. If I am actually going to sit down and watch television, I include the shows saved on my TiVos, Amazon Prime, and my Plex server. Occasionally, I will watch a disc. It's been years since I have done that. I am a very lazy TV viewer. I rarely have time to sit down in front of a television, but I do have a special place to do that. I am passively shopping for a tenth television for that place. I'd like a 4K 75"+ LED for my living room. Or, maybe, a projector. Projectors are getting very good at reasonable price points and are easy to dispose of. That room has a nice home theater, a six foot air hockey table, a legends ultimate arcade, and a couch. It's my favorite room in the house. The 1080p 60" plasma in this room is not very smart, but it's attached to a TiVo Mini and a 4K Fire TV stick. I used to watch football in that room. Not so much these days. I have a 55" 4K TCL Roku TV in my bedroom. That's where I watch most of my television. I have two 3t TiVo Roamio OTA DVRs attached to that television harvesting great programming (Blue Bloods, Hill Street Blues, House, Hunter, JAG, Monk, Nash Bridges, NYPD Blue, Rizzoli & Isles, and The Closer) all day long. When I get a chance to upgrade the other three Roamios, I will have 15TB of archived programming. As long as TiVo's service is running, these programs will be available on any television with a Roamio or Mini in tow. Even after TiVo quits, the shows will still be playable on a directly attached television. There is a 32" LED on top of my refrigerator. Most of the time I am in the kitchen, my back is to that set. I have a 10" Echo Show on the counter between the sink and stove. Besides maintaining my shopping list, answering my landline, acting as an intercom, converting measurements, playing music, and serving up recipes, the Echo Show plays over the air television via my Amazon Recast whole house DVR. I have another 10" Echo Show on my desk which does all those things too. Our family room television is probably second most used. It's a 55" TCL Roku television. Most of the time, my youngest son is planted in front of that TV with a game controller in his hands. Just the same, I've attached a 4K Fire TV Stick for the occasions when I want television on while I am doing something in that room. Last week, I watched the 'good guys at sunrise' on Heroes & Icons while I assembled a smoker. Good times. My sons' rooms each have a 55" TCL Roku TVs with 4K Fire TV Sticks attached. One of the shortcomings of the Amazon Recast is that it is limited to two concurrent streams. For the TCL TVs, I use the Fire TV Stick's Live Guide, but integrate the Sling AirTV Anywhere's over the air channels rather than the Recast's. That gives me six concurrent streams in total. Plenty even for my needs. One of the Sling AirTV Anywhere's streams can be watched outside the home. Nothing like a little live television when stuck in traffic. Plex, at my house, is still experimental. I have a Plex Pass so I can stream and record broadcast television. If ATSC 3.0 ever happens, I can add an ATSC 3.0 HdHomeRun to add 4K programming to my guide. With the Recast and Echo Shows, small screens are very portable. When I sit out on trick or treat, I set an Echo Show on the bistro table next to the bowl or candy and a glass of merlot. I can set one on a table next to my whirlpool. I can watch TV on the deck while smoking or grilling. I pay $50 per month for unlimited, uncapped, unthrottled high speed internet and $59 per year for Prime. So, $55 per month for more entertainment than I can watch.

  24. MA: 43% of New COVID Cases FULLY VACCINATED | The Daily Plane Greatest risk at this time is people acting like they are immune given ample evidence to the contrary. Camping is a great way to get away, but, if you are being a tourist where you camp, take care.
  25. from Vegas workers will put masks back on, but tourists won't have to under new rules - News Break Workers in Las Vegas and other parts of Clark County, Nevada, will have to resume wearing masks indoors but customers will not under new rules. The Clark County Commission voted Tuesday in an emergency meeting to require face coverings for all employees working indoors and around co-workers or members of the public in an increase in Covid cases driven by a more transmissible variant and a slowing vaccination rate.
