I don't think stores should be open that day. Especially during those hours. Like someone else said, that's right in the middle of the day when everyone's having dinner. Not only is it not fair to the employees, I can't see a lot of people forgoing their meals to go shopping. I guess I just don't see the purpose of doing both. If they want to open at midnight I guess that's fine, but be closed on thanksgiving. Maybe they'll find it's not as profitable as they'd hoped and will be closed next year. If this trend keeps up, everyone's going to be opening at midnight, then what will we do?

A few years ago my dh went to a craft store to get some things that were on my list. This old lady kind of bumped into him with her cart and he just looked at her and kind of moved out of her way. Then she pulls the cart back and rams into him as hard as she can with the cart. I mean he had a huge bruise from her doing it. He turned and looked at her and grabbed the front of her cart and flipped it on its side and walked off. He told me never again. Then a couple of years ago, my FIL had made a bunch of smart comments about me going shopping that day. Really made me mad, but I ignored him and did my shopping anyway. I came home with bags and bags of stuff that he helped bring in and he overheard me telling DH i'd spent about $450. FIL goes "She got all this for How Much???" Dh knew how much what he'd said earlier had bothered me so he looked at him and said, "Why do you think she goes out and shops? She does it so she can give our kids a nice christmas." I've never heard another word about it from him or MIL.

That singing star machine or whatever it's called from Fisher Price. Didn't come with an A/C adapter and couldn't find one anywhere that would fit it, even on the fisher price website. It would work completely with fresh batteries for about an hour if that and then things would quit working one by one.

1. In your opinion, what store had the best Black Friday ad last year (2008) and why? I guess I'd have to say Kohl's since that's where I spent the most money that day. 50% off +Kohl's cash+MVP coupon=some really good deals. 2. What would be your #1 piece of advice to someone totally new to Black Friday? Weigh the savings on the item against the trouble. Be aware that there are lots of other people after the same things you are, particularly electronics. If its worth it to you to camp out in the cold for many many hours more power to ya. Personally, it's not worth it to me to stand in the cold for more than an hour so I miss out on that stuff. To each his own. 3. Besides offering great deals, what else can a store do to get you to shop there on BF? Let me inside before the sales start. #1 reason we started with Wal-mart last year. No waiting in the cold. Courteous, educated help is a big plus too.

My Kmart had signs up all over the store today that they would not be price adjusting anything today, friday or saturday.

This always happens to me too so I bought three papers from two stores and every single paper had all the ads. First time that's ever happened.

I'd be very surprised if you could get what you want and get out of Kohl's and over to wal-mart by 4:30. Kohl's lines are always horrible. That's why I'm starting at Wal-mart and then heading to Kohl's.

Remember too that not everything in the ad is a doorbuster. The doorbusters should be on pallets, but whenever I go to wal-mart I always go early and get the non-doorbuster stuff so I can check out as soon as I grab the doorbusters.

My brother went shopping for my boys a couple of christmases ago and asked the people in the aisle which toy would annoy them the most. That would be how my kids ended up with a toy metal grinder. Sometimes I think I really could kill my brother.

I really want to get this for my son for christmas but I REALLY don't want to pay the $50 that amazon wants for it. Shooting more for the $35 range. I looked but can't seem to find it any where for less than amazon. Any ideas??

Good for you! It's always nice to get something like that early. They told DH and his coworkers in July no raises and no bonuses this year. Then they switched to crappy insurance that costs more money every month. Meanwhile management gets new company cars. Well, upper management anyway. Nice huh? They went from 5% of his pay to nothing. Good thing we never counted on that bonus for anything. And it's a little company too so they could have easily given everyone a bonus for less than they paid for one car. I work for county gov't. We have a christmas dinner at the office and then usually get a little gift of some sort. That's enough for me. I love my job.

Kmart has a sale on thanksgiving day as well as one on black friday

I have two. The first one I was at wal-mart a couple of years ago and this lady was there with her grandson. He was playing with some kind of elmo doll. This lady walks by and looks at the kid and goes, "I was wanting one of those" and takes it from his hands. His grandma and I both just kind of stood there with our mouths gaping open. Finally I recovered enough to say, "Are you kidding me? Give the kid back the toy." She argued with me a little bit, but she finally did. The other is actually my husbands story. It was the last time he went out for BF. He'd gone to Joann's to get something from my wish list that was half off that day. He's standing in the aisle looking at stuff and this lady rams him with her cart. I mean rams, he had dark bruises and everything. He turned to her and asked what her problem was. She said, "You're in my way." He picked up the end of her cart and flipped it on its side. He was so mad. Decided then he'd rather just pay full price than deal with that.

I hope this is accurate as there are several things from my list here. Thanks for posting.

I got two of the speed racer cars, Don't wake Daddy, the cranium Vsmile game which was on clearance for 9.99, a star wars school supply set for my nephew and a 20 pack of batteries all for $60. I'm happy.

Okay, glad it's not just me. I always hate to post stuff like that because I'm afraid everyone will go, "I see it. What's wrong with you?" hehe

When I click on the link and put in my zip all I get is the veterns day ad. Am I doing something wrong??

I'm stressing the budget but fortunately I started pulling money out back in August whenever we could afford it. Now I have a good chunk of cash put away so that helps, but I always worry about money this time of year no matter how well I think I've prepared.
