  1. Keep an eye out on BF Last year I was going to get my DD a 7inch Acer Tablet from BB on BF. I ended up getting the 10inch Acer Iconia for $10 more than what BB was offering the7 inch. I paid $199. I feel they will be even lower than last year. I other tablets than the Kindle Fire because I wanted cameras and also the microsd slot. THis year the Fire has the camera but no microsd slot to increase memory
  2. Brad you are killing me. I am trying to find a place that actually has more input on how that tablet works and more info on the DVR and Tivo. So far I have seen pictures but now what it can do. Also is it necessary to get another controller etc...
  3. I don't know if it is going to be as big as the Wii was. They really are not saying much about it at all that I have seen.
  4. Not happy with the prices. Looks like I may be passing on this. First time I have ever not gotten a Nintendo product on launch
  5. I felt the same way 2 years ago when DS16 got his 2nd touch. He was never without it. He loved it. His iphone 4s has now taken the place of the touch lol. I was able to get it thru BB with a $50 gift card bac. That year TRU had the same deal also. If I have to get one this year I hope they have the same deal again or better
  6. How old are your boys? I know a choice between ipod touch and a tablet my DS16 prefers his touch. He just got a new phone (iphone 4s) and now uses that all the time instead of his 2 year old ipod touch. I asked him if he wanted a new touch this (his birthday is 4 days before Xmas) and he said no. His touch he jailbroke and used to use it for watching movies etc. He uses his tablet for skype and for some school work since he has a keyboard for his Asus. Now he is only using his iphone but he has had it less than a month. DD14 uses her tablet more than her touch. Its all a matter of preference.
  7. Last year everyone was worried that Amazon would not have enough Kindle Fires to last for the holidays. There was no shortage of them at all.
  8. Yes I just asked my DS16 and he says he watches Amazon Prime on his Asus Transformer, his Xbox, our TV downstairs using our Blu Ray player with apps and also on my bedroom tv.
  9. Well as I said last year I did not choose the Kindle for my teens since I know they preferred the Google Play store. I have not regretted my decision. This year if I was getting it for them since it is nicer than last years I may have gotten it for them since now they use our Amazon Prime account to watch a lot of movies. They can also use it their current tablets also. I personally would wait to see what the ads will be like. If they are anything like last years there will be deals on tablets especially if you are willing to camp out. If not then the Kindle Fire HD seems to be quite nice. For DH it will work really well and we are thinking of giving one to his Dad also. I know quite a few teens who have the original Fire and they are happy with it. For mine the original was not ok since it had no cameras but that has changed with the new HDs. Something else you could look into is SquareTrade Warranty to protect your investment. I just saw Amazon has their extended warranty for $89.99 for 2 years. SquareTrade is $44.99 for 2 years for the Kindle Fire and $54.99 (other tablets up to $500), $22.99 (for a $249 tablet).
  10. I pre ordered the 8.9inch HD that is shipping on 11/20 so I have quite a bit of time to start applying gift cards. I usually apply Amazon gift cards to my account all year so when I do order I have the option to use the gift card or not. This way if I am a little short I always have a credit with them lol The Samsung Galaxy is a full Android tablet meaning that you have access to Google Play Store and you can also download the Amazon app store and get apps from them (they offer a free app every day). The Kindles do not have a full android operating system so there is no access to Google Play Store unless you root the tablet and then your warranty is voided with Amazon. Also the Samsung I think has 2 cameras and also a slot for added memory via a microsd card. The Kindles only have 1 camera and no sd slot but you do have access to the Amazon Cloud free for all Amazon purchased stuff and there is a fee for other stuff not bought from Amazon. Those were the main reasons I did not go with a Kindle Fire last year for my teens now 16 and 14. I ended up getting DS16 the Asus Transformer 10 inch 16gb and gave him a 16gb microsd card now he has 32gb of memory. (purchased it on BF from BB for $249) DD14 got the 10inch Acer Iconia A500 with 16gb and additional 16gb microsd card. I got a really good deal on it ended up paying $189 at Kmart on BF. I was originally getting her the 7inch Acer from BB that was $189 on BF last year. We use their tablets for recording their swim meets so having the 2nd camera is great. This year the tablets are for me and DH so I have reserved the 8.9inch HDs but will be watching the ads on BF in case there are some deals on tablets again.
  11. Yes you can access Facebook on the older Kindles. Another option is to preorder the newer ones and every week buy Amazon gift cards and apply to the order. On Amazon you are not billed until your item ships. (I have done it before on pre orders its kind of like a layaway online) I have preordered 2 of the HD Kindles and every week I buy an Amazon gift card (no handling charges) on Amazon have it emailed to me and take the code # and apply it to my order. By the time November 20th comes around they will both be paid off. If I decide I don't want to get them I can always cancel my order with no penalty before they are shipped and my gift cards are put back on my account for future purchases. Buying the Kindles at Amazon I a also saving the tax I would pay in a brick and mortar store. I shop a lot on Amazon for the holidays and all year round.
  12. Sent my payment in for 2 shirts can't wait for them and BF. Love Gottadeal
  13. Just sent my payment for 2. Thanks Brad
  14. I just saw this. A new tablet geared towards kids coming out from Toys R Us. I do't hae younger kids mine are 14 and almost 17 but thought those looking for their kids this is another option. http://www.talkandroid.com/131344-toys-r-us-set-to-release-exclusive-tabeo-7-kid-friendly-tablet/ http://www.talkandroid.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/Toys_R_US-tabeo_01-420x229.jpg?3995d3 http://www.toysrus.com/shop/index.jsp?categoryId=12807709&camp=redirect:redirect:TRU:tabeo:80212
  15. Thanks. Of course I won't be home that Saturday night. Figures the one Saturday picked I have a wedding. Hope to be there for the next one.
  16. I am looking for the LIKE button??
  17. I like 5, 6 and 8 is my favorite. I think the blue with the the orange POP more than the orange with the blue.
  18. Yes you are correct. The Kindle Fire is a Tablet (you can also read books on it) Kindle ereaders are known by the following names Kindle Touch, Kindle Keyboard, Kindle DX, and the just announced Kindle Paperwhite.
  19. Last year we got my 13 year old a Tablet (actually was her gift from her Grandpa) She also got a new laptop from us
  20. I like #2 the best. I do like the blue shirt with the orange print though. #3 is nice but I think would cause too many problems. # 1 I like the front but the back is too crowded. Will you be getting these in long sleeve also for those of us in the cold (or sweatshirts)
  21. I don't remember them ever having layaway.
  22. Thanks, that is where I got ours from. I saw it was that price on Friday (I think) but DH had not tried out his so my Aunt said she wanted to wait.
  23. Just wanted to update. Gave DH the Slingbox for his birthday. He was not impressed when he opened it. Well today he set it up and can we say IMPRESSED!!! He is so happy that he now has "cable" in Queens at his Dad's who only has basic TV via antenna. Thanks bluebear for your help. Now will have to wait to find another deal on the Slingbox since my Aunt in California would like to get it for her Hubby out at the Cayes in Belize.
  24. 1. Saturday nite (or Sunday nite) is good. Other nites are ok but should start later 2, Like seeing the best deals, the best stores, online and brick & mortar 3. Love the chat the friendly banter, the discussions and of course the prizes (wish I could win) 4. Did not care much for the way to get into the webcasts it was confusing and I had a hard time getting to post. May have just been me 5. I think 2/3 hours max. 6. I love the webcasts that are on the day the big ads break. Just don't make them so long. I can never stay on for the entire webcast and I feel that I miss stuff
