  1. Thanks I will try and use it at Christmas. DS found a pumpkin pie on clearance at Walmart tonight and said Mom why don't you just use this? Well didn't have to tell me twice. I will be making the usual cherry cream pie, and attempting a tradtional apple pie this year though.
  2. Wow I am seriously impressed... and that takes a bit . You know you guys rock right? I can only imagine how much easier it would have been to have a lifeline to someone when I first started BF shopping on my own.
  3. Well I just recently figured out that there were some things that I was interested in getting on BF. I was still going don't get me wrong. I can't imagine not going on BF. We went one year and stood in line places that had GC just so I could shop some ... I had no money that year. So ya there is not a lot that would keep me from going shopping on BF .
  4. adrenaline so you are correct hun.
  5. Sniff sniff I guess I am Longview by myself. That's ok this is one time I have to say the less the merrier lol
  6. Baking is usually me and my DD with my DS sitting in the floor licking spoons etc. DH and I always make chex mix for friends and teachers and that is something we do together. Funny I have never thought about it before but we are usually watching a Christmas special and we pretty much know what we will be doing in cooking. I guess we have just been doing it so long its kind of unspoken. :)
  7. We try and get around the same amount of gifts. So they can take turns opening gifts on Christmas morning. I do try and stay closer to the same amount of $ so I have been known to put more than one thing in a box to even everything out number wise.
  8. Sounds great to me.
  9. DD is 13 and loves to go, this will be her 3rd year. It really depends on the child and the area. We are a fairly small town as BF shopping goes so no major danger. I probably would not let her shop with me on BF if I was in Dallas or another major city. She has always gotten her own gift card etc. for waiting in line. Course she is my child so I cringe to think what she would do if they tried to tell her no she could not have a giveaway or buy something. Her best friend asked to go with us tonight and I told her that is fine as long as you and your mother both agree that you fend for yourself ... you keep up with you and stay with the group ... any lagging will get you waiting in the truck until your mom comes to get you. I guess she saw the seriousness in my face and decided not to go, her mom was dying laughing because she knows how insane I get about BF.
  10. Anything in particular that she is into with scrapbooking? Maybe you could buy her some different Jolee stickers or something like that. What about some pre cut quilt squares in her favorite colors. A few high end pans or stoneware? Or a set of the silicone pans. Bed Bath and Beyond has a ton of awesome things that you could pick a few of and make a basket up for her that had to do with baking things.
  11. The last few years we have not had a theme it has just been whatever made it on the tree ... which I am not fond of. My favorite tree was when my kids were little bitty we had colored lights, salt dough ornaments ... all different shapes in primary colors, primary color bows that went from the top and ran down the tree. Most of our stuff now is blue. We are flipping after this year to Disney though. DH fell in love with Disney while we are there and I think he is well on his way to becoming as big of a Disney freak as I am. I am hopeing to find twinkle lights and buy a new tree topper this year (Disney ... hoping to find a Cinderellas castle) Over the next year I will be buying disney ornaments. We have decided to backdate and buy Enchanted Places ornaments from the year we were married 2001. DD's tree is going to be University of Texas stuff. DH and I have decided to buy her a few ornaments this year and then one a year each year after so that when she graduates she will have enough UT ornaments for a large tree. Unfortunately I probably won't be able to find them on sale . I found WWE stuff for DS this year that I am going to order for his tree since that is what he is into at the moment. Both the kids will be getting new fake trees after Christmas this year, we are hoping to find orange lights for DD's tree. :)
  12. Black Friday. We always do real so I cannot imagine putting it up earlier ... it would not last till New Years if we did. Dh is off this BF so we have already made plans to go ahead and go get it
  13. I have not made pies in years because the last ones I tried turned out icky. My DD asked me for a pumpkin pie this year. So I am asking the cooks in the group for a good pumpkin pie recipe. Also a good pecan pie or apple pie would be nice too. I am not an idiot when it comes to cooking ... I can make alfredo sauce from scratch. But for some reason I have never made a pie like that that turned out ok. I have some little pumpkins on my table can I use them for the pumpkin in a pie? Or should I just buy some of that canned stuff? Thanks in advance.
  14. Usually take out or something really easy.
  15. My DD has a Dooney that I think we paid 150 for if I am not mistaken. There are a lot of them around that price they are just not going to be big purses. Try Dillards or Macys. I have heard TJ Max sometimes has them as well though I have never caught them. Also I know Sam's carries D&B a lot of the time. I know you said you wanted to buy it in the store but check the websites so you can find out how much the purses are so you know ahead of time what is in your price range. The prices are 9 times out of 10 the same as they are in the store.
  16. I was in line with a Walmart manager earlier this week for the PS3 he said they were getting 29 Wii. There was one person in line when I checked at 3.
  17. Well it always starts out as just the four of us... and then it grows to whoever. We normally deep fry a turkey but this year DH is smoking one. We never have had a ham before but DH bought a cooks spiral ham last night so I guess he plans on cooking one. My big thing is veggies and sides. Usually we have : broc casserole yellow squash green bean casserole cranberry sauce yeast rolls asparagus mashed potatoes mushroom gravy stuffing cherry cream pie this year I am thinking of adding: four layer delight candied sweet potatoes probably other things as well never know lol
  18. Frid cheese, fried mushrooms, stuffed jalapeno peppers, rotel dip and chips.
  19. I am sure your daughter would love it. I would have to think long and hard though about if I would have enough time to devote to an animal after the baby is born. I would say a cat would be easier to deal with than a dog. If you do do it I would say fix a box of animal stuff and let your daughter actually pick out the animal. You have a better chance of her easily bonding with the animal. Our Zoe is a rescue cat and we could not have been happier without decision to adopt her.
  20. Have it shipped to your local Walmart and it is free .
  21. DH has no clue. I think he likes to think he knows ... but he knows he doesn't if that makes sense. We bought DD a purse last year for Easter and he said awww that is so cute. He bought me one for my bday a month later and came home saying OMG do you know how much Shelby's purse was! Course he is just as bad as I am ... I bought a PS 3 which I had no intentions of keeping. Now he is trying to talk me into keeping it for he and my DS to play. At least he did say that it would stay in the living room if we kept it because there is noway DS is going to have it in his room to get destroyed.
  22. We always play either card games or board games.
  23. That is why DD has one. So she can call me when the game or practice is over. The school is closed by that time and there are no phones in our gym. That and she can walk home and I feel ok about it if need be. We live about a block from the school but she can call me and we can talk till she gets back in our yard.
  24. Sometimes they do and sometimes they do not... honestly. Is it something you can order thru Macy's or Dillards? You might get a better deal going thru somewhere else. Just a thought.
  25. My daughter got one at 10 or 11 not sure which. We went prepaid for a few years and then last year we put her on our plan. DS will get one for Christmas he is 11. Prepaid and if he can handle that he will get put on our plan in a year. I think he will be fine though he is like my DH and hates the phone. :)
