Perimeter Perusing at Target (Target Clearance Deals) - 2007

I, for one, really appreciate the posters here who tell about what is on sale and also remind us of the expired coupons in the generator. I don't print off all those coupons ahead of time so it's nice when someone gives a heads up on this forum. Then I can make sure I print them off BEFORE I go to Target rather than get there and then see the item and wish that I had the coupon on the generator! That said... my super target has Driscoll strawberries on sale for $1.99 for a one pound container. There is a $1 off coupon on the generator, which makes them $1 for a pound. Not a bad price for strawberries. I had no idea I grabbed the organic container and she rang it up at $6.99!! Fortunately I saw it and told her they were supposed to be $1.99. I looked at the container and saw the word organic. I was ready to dash back and get the non organic kind, but she just changed the price. I would have been soooo mad if I got home and noticed I paid $6.99 for strawberries. I couldn't care less if they are organic or not (regular produce is fine with me). I return other things, but I don't return food so I would have been stuck with them. -

The cheap juice boxes are easy to spot. Most of the MM juice boxes are 15 packs and they have a big red label on the front that says 15 pack. The cheap boxes are only 10 packs, so they tend to stick out on the shelf a little bit. (Although it is true that the orange juice is NOT part of the "cheap stuff.") I too have only found grape, apple and fruit punch. Some have said that they have to dig a little bit to find them. However, I've found it to be sort of the opposite. Most of the times that I've found them, they've actually just sort of appeared to be quickly put on the shelf in the front or on top of the other boxes. I still haven't figured out a method to what time of day or day of the week they put them out... probably because it all depends on when the food court needs more and that varies from store to store. (The theory is that these boxes are supposed to be sold at the food court for 69 cents per individual box.) Hope this helps. -

Got lots of my little pony fruit snacks today. Those along with my ongoing collection of juice boxes when I can find them will make great contributions to the cul de sac summer snack kitty. There are 9 little girls in our cul de sac (no boys) ranging in age from 1 to 8. Everyone usually shares popsicles, ice cream bars, and other assorted snacks. When one kid comes out with one, they all want one. Those fruit snacks were CHEAP at 89 cents less the 75 cent expired coupon. I also combined some Betty Crocker manufacturers coupons and ended up with a little "profit" from Target of 75 cents after buying 9 boxes. THANKS so much to whoever posted that. I wouldn't have found them otherwise! :>) Also got 2 boxes of girls' pull ups (62 count) marked down to 1/2 price ($10). I used a $2 off coupon on each box, so 8 bucks for each box. Not bad. I also saw 2 Barbies that were kind of neat marked to 75% off. They were on a stand with ipod hook up so when an ipod (or mp3 player) got plugged into it, they would dance to the music. I almost took them but I just put them back. I've got such a stock pile of toys from Christmas sales at Target through the years. I am trying to control myself. They were $30 marked down to $7.50 though. (Oak Park store over by the stationary if anyone is interested.) Also saw a bunch of ??Smith and Hawkins??? outdoor decor stuff marked to 75% off... birdfeeders, birdfood, wreaths, etc. Scored one more box of MM juice today. The hunt for those is 1/2 the fun for me. -

I also think it is kind of silly to really believe that coupon users would make much of a ripple in the financial results of Target. There are so many people who shop that store besides the few of us chatting on this board. Thousands and thousands of people go into Target stores every day, never pay attention to what is on sale, never use a coupon and probably way overpay. That is Target's key demographic... completely opposite of Walmart. Target wants the upper/middle class folks with lots of disposable income to spend. Most if the time (not all) those are the people who couldn't care less about coupons. Target isn't the low cost store and they know that. Found all those story readers and software marked to 75% today at Super Target if anyone's been watching those. $8.xx for the reader and $3.xx for the software, I believe. -

The Oak Park and Stanly Targets were 75% today, but the OP Super wasn't. That's all I went to. I didn't think there was much of anything very good left. Either stuff is getting pretty shopped through at 50% off or I'm just getting pickier! LOL -

I go through the same thing with my husband... the whole idea of buying something and THEN finding a need for it completely escapes him. To him, first you need to have a reason to buy something and THEN you go out and buy it and spend whatever it costs. This, of course, is the complete opposite of how I shop at Target. I spend most money on stuff I don't have an immediate need for. The need will come eventually! -

Oh my gosh. CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Imagine finding that on clearance merchandise. I also went back today and looked for more bulbs. Every package had a nice neat slit in it. Many still had the $1 coupons still there. I thought maybe it was the store that was making sure it didn't give out a $100 card on clearance merchandise. I can't imagine someone just standing there slitting open every package. Kind of weird to me:razz: Even the dollar off was still a good deal when you applied it to the bulbs. Very cheap especially since my husband always yells at me for leaving lights on. I also found 4 grape juice packs today and by looking at how so many others also found some, I'm wondering if this is maybe one of the days to watch??? I suppose there is probably no method to how they stock those juices on the shelf, but it sure would be nice to at least know if there is a particular day to watch for! I always take a peak down the juice aisle for them when I go. I would also like to find apple. I've only found grape and fruit punch. (Of course I shouldn't be picky. I'm just happy to find some and my kiddos certainly don't care!! The apple is always nicer than grape or fruit punch when you consider the stain factor though! LOL.) -

Also found a kitchenaid knife set tonight for $24.xx. Don't need it, but it will make a great gift for my sister. Picked up 2 Little Mermaid flashlights for 75% off ($1.48). A spinning fish nighlight and a Cinderella princess nightlight for 75% off ($3.74 & $2.48). Lots of lightbulbs for 1/2 price (which I will have to tear into to check out these giftcards that someone was talking about!). Also got 4 dozen eggs for free. The kiddos will have fun decorating eggs on Saturday (I needed an indoor project for the weekend since we are back into winter now:mad: ) Then, I guess it's egg salad sandwiches/deviled eggs for awhile!:) -

That is so absurd. At Christmas time, Target is where I get all my ebay shipping boxes. Some days I only go there to box hunt as they are unpacking stuff in the aisles. At the Targets around here, they are more than happy to let me take as many boxes as I want .. (as long as they aren't the ones that they recycle). Hope that policy hasn't changed! -

I wonder if it is like those rewards cards that some of the grocery stores and pharmacies use. You get a certain price on something if you have their card but you are still able to use coupons. Maybe Target will offer fewer coupons on-line in favor of a rewards card. That way they can better track everyone's individual spending habits. Guess time will tell WHAT it is???? -

I DO know how to use the return button on my keyboard... guess I should have put some space in my paragraph above! In addition to the same craft/wrapping, etc... that seemed to be marked down everywhere here today, I found a bunch of Snickers 12 packs marked down to 1/2 price-- 74 cents. I used my $1 off coupons for each pack, so I "got" a 26 cent credit on each pack (bought 6 of them). There are still lots of Butterfingers and Almond Joys left (Oak Park Target IN the candy aisle) Also found Over the Hedge computer game for $4.98 (75% off) and Barnyard for $4.98 (75% off). They were also IN the computer software aisle. I also got a HUGE box of Huggies baby wipes (480 count). They were only marked down 15% ($11.05), but I gave her a handfull of Huggies coupons totaling over $5 and she took them all. That plus my 10% reward made for very cheap wipes. -

Found out something interesting tonight. I use a Target Red Card for all my purchases at Target... even though it's a Visa and can be used anywhere, I just use it exclusively at Target... helps me to track all the useless stuff I end up buying! LOL! Anyway, I get those 10% off Rewards every month. Sometimes when I start the day out, I'm never sure if I want to use the rewards that day or not. (It's only good for one full day and can be used as much as you want at as many Targets as you want.) Okay... so, I cashed in on a lot of the same goodies that everyone is talking about today... crafty/wrapping/scrapbooking "STUFF". But, I didn't realize I wanted to take advantage of the rewards card until I found this electronic fireproof safe for $37.xx (down from $150). That, plus the fact that I went to 5 Targets and ended up spending about an average of $75 at each one made me want to use the card. So, I went to customer service and gave them all of my receipts from the day and told them I wanted to use my rewards. I figured they would tell me I would have to go back to each and every Target to get a credit and redo the transaction (like a "fix it fast" transaction-- that's what they call it). BUT, the manager said that all they have to do if there are receipts from another store is calculate what 10% savings would be on each of the receipts; give ME a bonus dollar for MY trouble; give ME another bonus dollar for every $10 the savings added up to, which in my case was $20 and some change. So, not only did I get a credit back on my Target red card for the 10% savings (which was all I really wanted), I ended up with a $22 credit. (cause of the bonus dollars they were giving me for the trouble!) I told them I feel like it's ME who is causing the trouble for THEM. THEY shoud get the bonus dollars. (they just laughed.) That's the policy. This is a newer Target too and the newer ones "sometimes" (not always) tend to know the policies a little better. There was an actual form that she pulled out that they use to scan for accounting purposes. Anyway, I never realized that little tidbit of info and wasn't sure if there were others out there who get those 10% rewards each month, but are never quite sure if THIS is the day they want to invest in using it! You can just wait until the end of the day to decide! -

Leap Frog recalled the learn around playground item number 10200 (I think it's on the box somewhere.) Hopefully the one they sold you is a newer version. -

Found the huge, huge rubbermaid tubs marked to 1/2 tonight. $9.98 down from $20. I refer to them as the "coffin" sized tubs! Pretty cheap for those big boys. Someone must have returned a Shabby Chic floor cabinet. It was $60 marked to $15. It will work nice as a book shelf in dd's room. I also couldn't resist picking up more of those 4 cent packs of hershey bars. And now Spring break starts and my kindergartener (who hates Target) will be home for 11 days straight! I will have to choose my Target days carefully and bribe her mercilessly. I have been known to okay lollipops at 9:30 in the morning. Target stores should add supervised toy rooms/nurserys! -

Oh, It wasn't me that found it. I think I accidentially deleted an important tag when I hit the quote button. I was responding to someone else who found it. I had heard that they were recalled. I haven't seen any of those around here. -

Major score on the juice boxes... got 7 (4 grape/3 fruit punch) for 69 cents each. I have hardly found any of these so I was very happy. My kids (and my sisters) are set with juice boxes for the summer! Also found 12 pack snack size hershey bars and kit kats marked down to $1.04. I used the $1 off coupon (says snickers or twix, but she took them anyway). Got each package for 4 cents each! Also got 2 cans of Pringles for 50 cents each (had a register coupon and two expired Pringles coups as well). May have to go back for more of those candy bars... hmmm. -

My guess... tomorrow. It's just a guess, but I think they will take scrapbooking stuff and/or gift wrap stuff and maybe even office supplies to 75%. They are all in the same area at most of the Targets I go to. I have no basis for my guess. I'm just guessing:cheesy: -

I was out at the Speedway Target last night and they had some toys marked down to 1/2. The Leap Frog Quest AND a 3 pack of software to go with it were marked to $24.99 and $12.48. They also had the Fly Pen Algebra software down to $17.50 (reg. $35). The Quest handheld and software are actually in the Leap Frog aisle... were only red stickered once. It kind of looked like they went straight to 1/2. It's a fairly new store and I've seen new stores skip straight to 50% without going 15, 30 first. For some reason, Oreos are cheap at that store too. They are $2.04... every other Target has them for $2.89. When you use the $1 off coupon, that makes them pretty cheap. -

For anyone in the KC area... I just came from the Ward Parkway Target tonight (late) and they have an entire end cab full of Tide that is SIGNED at 15% off and stickered at 15% off, but scans and 1/2 price $6.44 down from $12.99. I came so close to walking away without scanning it. So if you missed the Tide somewhere else, you can hit that store and take as much as you want. They had tons. It is 100 ounces, but is 2x concentrated, so you theoretically (sp??) are getting 200 ounces since you only need to use 1/2 as much. For me, it is hard to find Tide for less than $4.50 to $4.99 per 100 ounces. I used $1 Target coupon and $1 manufacturers coupon on each one so that made them a pretty good deal $4.44 for 200 ounces. Now I just need to remember to use 1/2 as much since I'm so used to pouring the cup based on the regular formula! -

The Stateline Super Target is the only one in my area where I've seen the huge, huge pack of Charmin (30 rolls maybe???). Anyway, I was there last night and they had a few left. They are back by the frozen foods and seemed to be getting a bit hidden because they were unloading new packages of TP that weren't on sale and the Charmin was getting shoved around a bit. Anyway, they are marked to 1/2 price ($6.50). A week or so ago I got a Target receipt coupon for $1.50 off and also had a Target coupon for $1 off, so got the Charmin for $4. Pretty cheap and good to have on hand when ya got kiddos who think they need 12 feet of it each time they go to the bathroom! LOL -

I've always wondered just how huge stores like Target and Walmart get reimbursed for their coupons anyway. Do they really pay a clearinghouse to sit and sort through what 50 cent coupon goes to Proctor and Gamble; what 25 cents coupons go to Kimberly Clark, etc. etc... Do they do it in the store? I just can't imagine that it is cost effective to put that kind of time and money into such a tedious job for essentially pennies. All those stores, all those coupons... I've always wondered what happens to them, really. -

I remember when that $1 off Diet Coke coupon came out last summer, people on this forum were talking about how they were buying 50 or more jugs for wedding receptions. Guess giving away all that Diet Coke didn't make anyone at the corporate level worry too much cause they are still printing out some pretty good coupons (including the most recent FREE Choxie bars). -

When you really think about it, it is laughable to assume that Target is in any way worried about people over using coupons. Just look at the pages and pages of dialog this forum generates all talking about Target. They are in HEAVEN-- I believe. This publicity couldn't be any better if they paid for it themselves. Look at how well Target has been doing compared to Walmart. They are eating their lunch in terms of customer share of the disount store market. I just find it extremely hard to believe that the highly educated senior executives at the very top of Target Corp's food chain don't realize what they are doing when they allow their systems to accept coupons past the expiration date.. with or WITHOUT the date actually present on their coupon. These people aren't stupid. They know exactly what is going on. They are smart because they know they aren't the lowest price in town, but by having a liberal coupon policy, people go into their store to buy lotion and come out buying a 3 piece dresser set too!!! -
