Perimeter Perusing at Target (Target Clearance Deals) - 2010
Rockfordmom replied to Brad's topic in Offline Hot Deals
I got a pack of pillowcases the other day at 75% off, but only a couple were marked 75%, the rest was only 50% or 30% off, but there was a lot of it, some on an endcap and more against the back wall. -
WALGREEN'S Deal Discussion - July - Sep '10

thanks Hanzie! I'll definitely make a stop there today. -
If you just return it they may reduce your merchandise by the amount of Kohl's cash, I think if you ask for a store credit then they won't reduce your Kohl's cash. Unless they changed that recently. It also depends on how much the dress was and how much Kohl's cash you got and what the promotion was; ie: if you got $10 Kohls cash for every $50 you spent, and you spent $120 so you got $20 Kohl's cash then if you return something that was under $20 then it wouldn't affect your Kohl's cash.

Perimeter Perusing at Target (Target Clearance Deals) - 2010
Rockfordmom replied to Brad's topic in Offline Hot Deals
But every single item gone first thing this morning? You can usually find a straggle item here & there for days, but they re-set the entire dollar spot already. And since when do they mark stuff down on a weekend? They used to wait until after the weekend so they could try to sell more at 50% off. -

Went to 2 stores Friday and brown dot dollar spot was 50% off and went first thing this morning and neither store had any brown dot stuff left at all!?!? Not 1 single thing! Not sure if it went to 75% over the weekend (??) and ALL sold out or if they removed all of it? Really weird... Signs said 50% off price was good through 9/19. Target has really been doing things differently, from putting clearance mixed in the regular isles, and constantly moving clearance around to different spots, not following any schedule anymore, leaving things at lower clearance for much longer, lowering the price on one item to 75% off but leaving another similar item at only 30% off, things disappearing before they get to 75% off, completely changing how they do holiday clearance... I swear they are revolting against Perimeter Perusers and clearance shoppers... -

I just got an ad booklet today in the mail about the size of a thin magazine, it says Liz Claiborne on the cover and has a $10 off $10 coupon inside the front cover. Haven't seen one of these in a while :)

Are Black Friday Sales REALLY that great or is it just the thrill?
Rockfordmom replied to bfaddict1977's topic in 2010
Everyone that says that they do it for "fun and tradition" or the "thrill" - do you sleep out? And if yes, you really sleep out because of fun and tradition and the thrill and not for the sales? If I didn't specifically want something that I thought they would be out of if I wasn't in the front of the line then I'd stay home and just go later in the day, the lines to pay are much shorter then. I'm just asking, is shopping on Black Friday the tradition or sleeping out in lines the tradition? And to everyone that says crowds aren't that bad, is Rockford the only place that you get shoved and pushed when the stores open? Over the past several years at one time or another I've been near the front of the line at Best Buy, TRU, Sears, Target several times, Kohls several times and Menards several times and I have been pushed and shoved every single time when the doors open and while waiting in line to pay at some of those places too. Almost got trampled at Menards once. There are places that it's not like that? I brought my 8 year old daughter to $1 flip flops at Old Navy last summer, I would never put her through that again. -
I agree, it couldn't hurt to try.

You got in line prior to Thanksgiving morning without wanting to purchase anything advertised on sale? -
What type of coupon was it? Was it one that printed out of the machine when someone else scanned their card that's linked to their account? I had 2 mailed to me recently and those ones I think anyone could use (if I didn't use them already).

really cute idea silverstreak24, I had not seen those before

I personally would never bring $800 cash into a place that crowded with people, I'd deposit it and bring a debit card or credit card or get one of those pre-paid credit cards. I also always have back-up credit cards just in case there is any problems. I've never gotten home and added up all my receipts so I have no idea what I've spent that day.

I think that most people don't get in fist fights. If it was only the possibility of getting a great deal then people wouldn't camp out. The closer you are to the front of the line the more likely it is that you will get what you want. -

thanks for posting that backpacks were 75% off! -
I've heard that you can find good deals on Christmas Eve, but I have my shopping done by then so I don't have to go out on Christmas Eve so I cannot verify that.

the backpacks that you are looking at do sell for $30 normally, and they have warranties for if the zipper breaks..., you won't need to buy a backpack for many years she probably typed it in on the price checker at her store -
buy the cups after the holiday when they are on clearance and put them away for the next year, same thing with pencils my daughters teacher gave the entire class pads of paper, pencils and crayons for christmas one year and my sons teacher gave the kids a pad of paper and pencils at the end of the year to keep writing through the summer, all of those school supplies you can get pretty cheap on clearance after school starts and put them away for later here's the thing though, know how much they cost on sale! those cups Walgreens sells for like 5/$1 on sale in their ad, so if they are regularly .59cents and go on "clearance" for 30% or 50% off of the .59 cents then it's not really a great price for them until they are 75% or 90% off
