  1. "Does Target price match? I just bought a costume for my son last week and it's on sale at Walgreens now for 33% off. (I know it killed me to pay retail but he wouldn't put it down. I figured I can get a price adjustment later when it goes on sale or if it goes on sale.)" end of quote If she bought it at Target and THEN saw it at Walgreens cheaper, she can buy it at Walgreens then take the Target receipt to Target to return. (If it's worth the running around--it would be to me--33%).
  2. No Target does not price match. The only way around it is to buy the item at Walgreen and return at Target (be sure you have the receipt or gift card--otherwise they will not let you do anything with your purchase).
  3. Does this mean that the BEST BUY list is out already?!?!?!?!?!?
  4. It seems as though kids are really into gadgets these days. My sons are 8 and 15. The youngest one wants an iPod shuffle which is usually about $90 on sale. I'm sure it will be less now that the iPod Nano is being launched, which runs about $125. Most kids love to listen to some type of music--even when they're studying or just hanging out. Outdoors stuff seems to get pretty pricey and since we're in the big city, I wouldn't get it, but if I were in a rural setting, then I think that the little mini cycles are neat and really popular. My 10 year old nephew in Carolina is getting one for Christmas. His best friend has one and it keeps them busy on weekends. If your sons are into sports, the stores seem to have an outdoor basketball hoop on sale every black friday. I know I purchased one two years ago and will purchase another one this year--one for each boy for a "real court" feel (they say). Every Christmas there's also an updated version of the Air Hoggs, which my oldest son has enjoyed for years and the youngest son is looking forward to getting this year (maybe). These are planes and rockets that are propelled by air pressure to make them project or soar really high. Bikes and rollerblades are good exercise if they're into them and don't have them...my sons also have a laser tag set that they enjoyed playing with their friends before we moved.
  5. I usually save one empty roll to roll up the leftover paper and put it inside the roll to keep it from getting damaged. Then I can pull out these small/oddsized pieces to use later, such as for a small gift box or item that is going into a stocking
  6. Everything gets wrapped within 24 hours and tagged, to a) prevent my family members from seeing it and to prevent me from deciding to keep it for myself.
  7. I dropped my teenaged son off at Target and was on line at Walmart by 3AM. He enjoyed the antics of the people on line. I don't remember anything we purchased except the great deal on the game cubes. I got about 10 of those to share with co-workers who couldn't make it to the sales. Then we went to the BX to do pricematches on the things that had sold out elsewhere and to get the $20 Coby DVD Players. :
  8. I do about 95% of my shopping on Black Friday, thanks to getting the ads several weeks before the event so that I can know what to get who. I have started some shopping already and I know that I will still do a little shopping the week before, because that's when the BX usually has major markdowns and lots of indoor specials. :
  9. This is a marathon event for me. No purse...it stays in the trunk until I'm done. Keys and two credit cards with license along with my list. Everything fits in the zipper pocket of my red jacket. The phone goes in my zipper pocket too. The less I have, the faster I can move and the less I have to worry about losing or being stolen in the crowds. Wal-mart can get pretty crowded and I've heard people say that they've had their wallets and cell phones stolen in the crowds. I might add that I never keep any keys on the same ring as my car key. That way, if I ever get car jacked, they don't have my house and other keys. Also, the weight of alot of keys on the car keyring can wear out the ignition switch, according to my mechanic.
  10. Wow...what kind of coupon was that and where can I get one?
  11. I'm SUPPOSED to be gift shopping for others, but I think that I get the best gifts--especially since my sons aren't old enough to get me presents, I get presents for me from them. I must say, they have really good taste when it comes to buying me presents. One of the overlooked perks of being a single parent.
  12. Hello Friends This is a really great website and I hope my newly joining friends will enjoy checking it out. :jump3:This site is dedicated to people (like me) who love to shop for bargains and want to beat the stores at their own game by getting the low down on what's going to be on sale way before the actual day of Black Friday. It gives those of us who are "Budget Conscious" the opportunity to start planning our finances :2dollar: and know how much to have available to shop on Black Friday-- the greatest day of the year (in terms of shopping).
  13. Last year my Walmart in Maryland had maps that told where stuff was suppossed to be but some of it wasn't. I was glad to grab the stuff I really wanted. This year is up in the air. Target gets on my nerve year round, but my son likes it, so I always send him there.
  14. I shop in the BX (military base store) and got a portable DVD player last year for $20. It works GREAT!! I think it's a Mintek. I hope to get some more of them this year, because I had purchased four at the time, but ended up giving three as Christmas gifts.
  15. Me personally...tempurpedic or sleep number bed...LOST season 1 DVD set...iPod w/camera and the most gigs. Son #1 wants the PSP, cash and an iPod. Son #2 wants the vtech vsmile, iPod shuffle and eight games for either of his game systems. Strange how technology changes people's wants. There was a time when all kids wanted for Christmas was their two front teeth.
  16. Last night's episode was GREAT...I KNEW that girl was one of "the others" when they threw her in the pit. What I DIDN'T know was that the Korean guy spoke English, although my youngest son did know. I really wanted to see what would happen if that button wasn't pushed.
  17. No I just saw the commercial a couple of times and my youngest said he wanted it...like everything else that appears on the tv Thanks for the welcome. I really enjoy watching LOST--especially Naveen Andrews. Just waiting for Barbara Hershey to let him go.
  18. Has anyone heard anything about the vtech handheld game where the parents in the commercial encourage their kids to play it? I was wondering if any of your kids/friends had checked it out and what they thought of it.
