I would love to have a real one, but we have a fake pre-lit. I just compensate by buying some fresh swags from the local nursery and put it on the coffee table so when we're all gathered around opening presents, you still have the "smell" of Christmas

I do - to close friends and family.

Start shopping early and take time to enjoy it. My job's ending in mid-September, so I fully intend to savor every moment of my extended "vacation" all the way through!

We do, but we have a Winter Wonderland where your child can get their pic taken with your camera (no charge for any of it). Then, we go to Big Cedar every year and on Saturdays they have a meet 'n greet outside with Santa and Mrs. Claus and, again, it's no charge to take a pic with your own camera. The elf will even take a family photo for you!

Cookies and milk (but it stays in the fridge; our Santa doesn't like warm milk) and oats/carrots for the reindeer.

General decorations start going up Black Friday (in the evening) and Saturday; the tree goes up on Sunday.

I'm not a fan of "All I want for Christmas (is my two front teeth)". There's a version of it on my Classics CD where the person does that whistling/lisping sound and it drives me batty.

I make up a general list of what I want for each person, but I mainly just keep an eye out for a really good deal and will get it if it falls in the same category.

In 05 we had a white Christmas, but usually we don't get anything. The most memorable Christmas was when I was still in elementary school and we had tornado warnings. I still remember my mom trying to convince me that Santa could make it through anything!

6-yr old DD still does, but she did ask a few more questions last year ...

We put them up the weekend after Thanksgiving and usually have the decorations boxed up by Dec 31st.

I have a Christmas club - for me, it's easier that they just take it straight from my paycheck so I don't have to!

The only noticeable markdown in toys here is the Fairytopia Mermaidia barbie (down to $3.24), but I passed. I stocked up on DD's sandals, though. Down to 75% which made them $3.24. I also picked up a few tanks w/ rhinestone detail for $1.24 (75%) and a short-sleeve embroidered tee for $2.49.

I just got back from Gap Kids and bought 15 shirts (polo, sleeveless, graphic crew, striped crew, etc) and a skirt for under $48! Most were $1.97, 2.97, 3.97. Saw a few denim shorts and skirts marked higher at $9.99, but still a great deal!
