  1. If these are "made in japan," this is a good price. I can't read the fine print of the circular online but I think it's 19.99 out the door. I'll be going tomorrow morning to check it out.
  2. No, neither are in college nor would they qualify for the epp.
  3. Ok, I'll see if she can wait. Yes, I remembered the visa warranty extension. Thanks for bringing it up.
  4. My sister wants a new desktop for her and the bro-n-law for websurfing, email, etc. They currently have a 10 yr old gateway - - so I know anything will be an improvement. I was looking at dell because their limit is around $500. Here's what I have so far: Dimension 2400 Series Intel® Celeron® Processor (2.40GHz, 400 FSB) Microsoft® Windows® XP Home Edition FREE Dell Color Printer 720! SAVE $60 (after rebate) 4Yr Ltd Warranty,At-Home Srvc + Nights and Weekend --because they are not pc literate and too far away for me to look at it 512MB DDR SDRAM at 400MHz 40GB Ultra ATA/100 7200RPM Hard Drive Single Drive: 48X CD-ROM Drive 17 inch E773 (16 inch viewable) Conventional CRT No speakers $498 with free shipping. The emphasis is low cost. I know I could reduce the cost with less ram but I think in the long run it will be worth it and that goes for the 4yr warranty also. I'm wondering if yall think a 2 or 3 yr warranty would suffice? Also, I realize the 20% off and free shipping ends today. Thanks for any advice/ideas/suggestions. :)
  5. Things do change. I remember buying my 19" syncmaster 955df some years ago for $300 and thinking I had gotten a deal because a few years before I had paid $300 for a 17" nec multisync fe700.
  6. Looks nice. I will have to think about this - hmmm.
  7. The keyboard is small but it is what I expected and not to hard to type on. The display is SWEET! The new lcd's are so much better than the older ones that I've worked on with older laptops.
  8. My 700m arrived today. In fact, I'm posting from it sitting on my couch. :) I like it. I will eventually get around to adding another stick of ram but other than that it's great for what I wanted.
  9. I was getting irritated at dell because my 700m had been in pre-production since last Friday but today it jumped to testing. I hope to get it next week instead of the estimated first week of May.
  10. Ok, the viewable area on the 17" lcd should be equivalent to a 19" crt right? Also, it's back in stock.
  11. WOW! Is this lcd any good? With lcd's is it 17" of viewable screen? For $200 I might just buy it for the wife. It's OOS.
  12. Try here for some guides on backing up and burning. This is where I go. If your dvd player is listed here you can find out what your dvd player can play. I've used 100's of Ritek/Ridata +R's and have never had a problem. I currently have 300 Fujifilm +R's, actually made by Taiyo Yuden which is considered by many to be one of the best, that I bought at Bestbuy when they were on sale. You can search media here.
  13. I recommend those panaflow L1a's. They are quiet and move a decent amount of air.
  14. It really is quite easy to make backups using either software. I could be either the media that was used or your player is just picky. I've never had any problems using dvddecrypter or dvdshrink.
  15. Dvddecrypter and DVDshrink are both freeware and very good at backing up dvds. I use both and both are great.
  16. Great find. I've done business with Directon before. I went ahead and got the 45 because their price is great. The DSP line was a little more than I wanted to spend- until you found that price. Thanks sdible.
  17. Looking for a good headset for talking on ventrilo, etc. Thanks.
